I take my Doberman pinscher here frequently during the summer! The staff is awesome and you can really tell they love being around dogs!

I have been taking my dogs here the past year with out any issues. They were great with them and priced pretty well. However, recently I boarded them for 4 nights and when I picked them up, one of them was covered in urine. Her fur was matted down and felt sticky and she smelled very strong of urine. The other ended up looking like she scraped her two back legs. I understand staffing can be an issue and that they may not be let out as often as they are at home but, 1. my one pup was covered in so much urine it was worth multiple accidents it covered her whole body. and 2. what happened to my other dog's leg and they failed to even mention it at all. Maybe i'm overreacting but i was very upset for my poor dogs when i picked them up. read more

I boarded my dog here for 10 days while on vacation. He was coughing the day I picked him up and it's now much worse. I brought him to the vet and he's been diagnosed with Kennel Cough. Any money you save in boarding will be spent at the vet to treat the cough. I sent extra wet and dry food in case we were delayed, none was returned. My dog was also dirty and exhausted from the stress of staying here. Too many dogs and not enough attention to the health of the dogs. I will not board here again. read more

So we just used this place for boarding for the second time. First time we didn't have any issues. This time we asked for our puppy to be bathed, nails done, etc. while she stayed over. When I picked her up today 10/22/22, the girl asked if was just the boarding and I explained she was supposed be bathed. I was told a simple, "Sorry we didn't bathe her." That's was it...once I got home I noticed an odor of urine my wife immediately smelled it as well and also noticed that her paws were red. We called our regular groomer (who had Tail Waggin Ranch and others on a list of preferred boarding options) and she was able to get us in right away. She explained that the redness was most likely from her sitting/laying in urine for an extended period of time. When we went to pick her up she explained that the bath water was "Horrendous". She apologized even though she had nothing to do with it and explained that after seeing the condition of our puppy they will be removing them from the list of preferred boarders. We did call and ask to speak to the owner and was told they aren't there very often but the manager would give us a call back. Still haven't heard from anyone and that was about 3 hours ago. read more

Hello everyone, When I was first looking for a dog daycare, I was worried about this place from the bad reviews on here. I was very wrong. This place is AMAZING. I also realized that the bad reviews were from years ago. Must be they have gotten new management since then, because I have never had an issue. I have a dog, Millie, who loves going there. I also wanted to add that I only take Millie maybe once a week, and every worker knows Millie by name. I think that is pretty cool! The staff are easy to get along with, and always tell me how Millie did that day. They have cameras which is nice if you are worried, and apparently are trying to add more activities for the dogs. My wife and I were apprehensive about putting our dog with a pet sitter while vacationing, as she has never been away from us and wasn't socialized with other dogs other than the occasional trip to the dog park. She was a puppy and kennel cough was running rampant and they didn't say a word, Not one person there told me or had a sign up saying that it was going around and my puppy ended up suffering and dying. Her death could've been potentially avoided had they been more upfront about kennel cough going around the establishment as I wouldn't have brought my 10 month old puppy in. We boarded our dogs at Tail Waggin Ranch while on vacation. When we picked up our dogs on Saturday we noticed they both had a strange cough, eye drainage and very runny noses. Our smaller dog was acting lethargic, not eating, and labored breathing. Both had diarrhea that pick-up day as well. Their condition did not improve so we took them to the emergency vet the next day to find out it was indeed an aggressive form of kennel cough. The smaller dog had a fever and was instantly put on oxygen and IV antibiotics as her condition worsened quickly. The vet told us her kennel cough progressed to pneumonia. Currently, she is still at the emergency vet fighting for her life. The prognosis does not look good. Our other dog did not require hospitalization but is suffering at home while completing his medication. DO NOT take your dogs here! The viruses/bacteria that my dogs were exposed to were fierce. I feel they are not adequately skilled or trained to identify signs of sickness or maintain a healthy, safe environment. There was no phone call, no attempt to get them to a vet, or no comment upon picking them up. I regret taking my dogs here. My small dog's condition had progressed to pneumonia while in their care. I understand that there is a risk when boarding pets but as the ultimate caregivers of pets during the boarding period employees need to be diligent about observing for signs of sickness. In my opinion, they failed my dogs. If the symptoms were noticed, we could have received vet care more quickly to help control the virus. We hope for a miracle to happen for our one dog but wanted to get a review in before any other dogs have to suffer like ours are now. If you choose to send your dog to Tail Waggin Ranch, be prepared for the possibility of extreme heartbreak and outrageous vet bills. read more

We have been taking our dog to Tail Waggin for a couple years now and we love it and so does our dog! The employees have been really good to our dog and us! Our dog actually gets excited as we get close and he just makes himself at home and doesn't even look back! We have also left him overnight without any issues. We looked around at other boarding and no place had anyone that stayed overnight with the animals. They have cameras so you can check on your pet and we have always noticed the areas to be nice and clean!! What it lacks in appearance it makes up with the love and attention our babies get while they are there. read more

Three times we've taken our dogs to this place. Each time, we'd asked that they be groomed and it was not done. The weekend of January 18 we dropped them off while we were out of town. One came one with kennel cough..then she began to get fat - she was pregnant. We contacted Tail Waggin Ranch several times wanting to know what unfixed males they exposed her to (which they never denied) and they said that she played with a n Australian Shepherd shepherd. Five puppies were born on March 23. Now the employees refuse to connect us to the owner,..through our polite repeated requests (and subsequent denials) the staff has become accusatory and downright rude. Never taking my dog again. Came home with a bite on his ear and his back foot pad bloody. When we pulled up to get him, the entire staff was outside smoking. I don't know who "treats their dog" like this but honestly, I'm upset with the business and myself for bringing him there more then once. We moved here in Feb 2014 and was looking for a place to take good care of our little dog during the day. We found Tail Waggin Ranch due to their large billboard on 24. I called and was given all the information I needed from the nice man, Skylar, that answered the phone. It was a really simply process. I was able to print all the forms at home and take them in fully filled out. The initial check-in process was quick and efficient, plus the first time is FREE!! This gives dog parents a chance to check it out and see if it is a good fit for their dog. My dog loves going to Tail Waggin! In fact, the first time he was there when my husband went to pick him up, he tried to run into the back and stay longer. When we go to drop him off, as soon as I pull in front, he begins to go crazy!! He jumps out the car and runs inside to greet everyone. What is really cool, is that the staff all know him by name and he doesn't even go everyday. Tail Waggin takes very good care of my little guy. This is evident from as soon as we enter, he is so anxious to get into the back that he just leaves me without even saying goodbye. (Which is never the case with my dog) It is such a relief to trust that my dog is in good hands while at daycare. I love the option to watch my dog on the cameras, it is really cool to see how he interacts with the group. I often see the staff in the playpens with the dogs, which I think is great. I can tell by my dog's interaction with staff and when arriving and leaving the establishment that he is being taken care of by caring and dedicated individuals. Awful. I'm sure glad the first day is free! It's 20 dogs in one fenced in pin, smaller than a small back yard! I really like the camera though because without them I wouldn't have know how horrible they are! The have "pools" I say that with quotations because the pools are plastic kiddie pools, they don't play or interact with the dogs either. It's just dogs in a pin. Today I saw dogs get peed on, I saw dogs lay in pee and I saw one of the employees walk past a bowel movement on the floor but I did see them come mop up some pee before. I also saw my dog being humped by another dog OVER AND OVER! My poor dog would run away and the dog would never leave him a lone. I watched for at least 15 minutes just thinking it would stop but it happened more than 10 times in that period of time- which to me made me think it happened all day. They told my husband there was a dog that might do that but we assumed they'd stop it. After minutes of this I called and told them and as I was speaking the person on the phone laughed and spoke as I spoke. I wasn't done talking so I finished what I had to say, he said something again and as I began to speak he spoke over me but I continued. After I finished talking there was silence, I had to say "are you going to do anything?!" and then he said he'd go get the dog right now which I assumed was my dog BC I hadn't said which dog is was. I watched on the camera as he took the other dog out. Which makes me think they knew and saw it happening the whole time & did nothing! Its sad and disgusting for me to watch my dog trying to escape and not being able too. I meant to check later and see if they put him back in there with all the dogs but I was too busy. I do know my dog will never go there again. The dogs just laid down and walked around, there was no playing. It looked very depressing. I'd give this place no stars if I could. I understand that dogs hump each other, it's not a big deal, I take him to the dog park and sometimes it happens but it isn't a constant thing where he's freaking out trying to get away and has to keep moving and running away. It wasn't like they were chasing each other or anything, my dog was clearly not playing with this dog he didn't want to be near him. He couldn't lay down or stop moving at all. read more

DO NOT BOARD YOUR DOG HERE!!!! They are left in their cages at nighttime from 6:30 PM until someone comes in to relieve them in the AM (7ish). 12 HOURS of being caged and not having anywhere to relieve themselves. Caretakers I met with (Chaz and nice young lady) admitted that this was a bad set up and that there was nothing they can do. Dogs bedding had been saturated in urine and they both have upper respiratory infections. I had used this place based on recommendations from friends. Well they are all witnessing how changed my 11 months old dogs are after I left them there for 7 days. Absolutely horrible. Witnessing dogs being yelled at by a worker (Justin) there when I picked them up as well as one of my dogs cowering down when he approached us outside with the rest of our items. WHAT DID THEY DO TO MY PUPPIES????? One of our males was afraid of human daddy the first few hours after being home!! Very SAD!!!! I have left several messages for the owner to call me before I posted anything negative to get this resolved however there has never been a call back. THEY HAVE A "F" RATING WITH THE BBB which tells me that they don't care!!! I have tried remaining proactive and have called every morning since Tuesday. ALSO BE AWARE THAT YOUR DOGS ARE NOT SAFE!!! There is not an attendant there every night like I was told. Just caged dogs scared and alone!!!!! USE ANY SERVICE THERE AT YOUR OWN RISK! I didn't like what I witnessed and my VET'S evaluation of the state my dogs are now in validated exactly how I was feeling. Skyler has reassured me they are changing to make things better. I called again this morning and spoke to Skyler who told me that the owner wanted me to email him to forward to the owner. Also said that everyone knows the way they board the dogs at this facility. I have spoken to the friends of mine that referred me and they certainly didn't know that and also agreed that it was not ok. At this point I'm assuming that the owner has no idea of how bad the conditions are at the Ranch. Hopefully this post will reach him. I wouldn't leave my dogs in their care until those CAMERA's are fixed if I were you!!!! My dogs won't be returning at all!!!!! read more

I boarded my dog at Tail Waggin Ranch over Memorial Day weekend. I am usually pretty nervous about boarding her but I must say that this is hands down the best experience I have had! The staff here is wonderful and I felt comfortable leaving my dog with them. Watching her play with other dogs on the web cams while I was gone was nice. Also, I had them trim her nails while she was there- and their groomer did the best job I have ever seen on her nails! I will definitely be taking her back again!!!! read more

This place is horrible!! We used them while on vacation and my dog had to be picked up early by a friend because he was scared and they "Could not handle him." He is never aggressive towards people so I'm not sure what happened!! They assured me that they are very experienced, that certainly was not the case!! They provide all services from dog grooming, to boarding. They give that personal touch that your dog needs when you can't be there to give it. I give Tail Waggin Ranch 5 stars and will take my dog Sammy there as long as I live in Swansboro.
