I only came here for their bubble milk tea. The Okinawa Pearl Milk Tea was one of the best I have had in the States.

The food is good.. I like their oyster pancake but I love their milk tea the most.. Try the Okinawa milk tea.. Tasty!

Native Taiwanese here. Finally a legit Taiwanese place in Chicago! Everything from the food to the decor to the music to the server uniforms felt authentic. Of course nothing compares to actual food from Taiwan, and some dishes definitely could be more flavorful (looking at the noodle soups) but this is pretty much the best you can do (and the only place tbh) for a place in the Midwest. Came here for lunch with my husband and brother in law. We go to Taiwan on a yearly basis so we are used to getting good Taiwanese food. We were excited to see a Taiwanese place had finally opened in Chicago. The food is okay, but not great if you've actually been to Taiwan and had real Taiwanese food. The oyster pancake we heard was not good, so we did not order that. We had the pickled cucumbers, popcorn chicken, gua bao, chicken over rice, pig ears, Taiwanese sauage, squid soup, and meat sauce over rice. The popcorn chicken was pretty good but could use a bit more seasoning and more basil. I could also taste a bit too much flour in the batter. In Taiwan they fry it with basil so it's really tasty. The chicken over rice was comforting and the rice at the bottom of the bowl had lots of tasty chicken flavor. The pickled cucumbers were nice and refreshing. We ended the meal with bubble tea. I had the jasmine green tea and it was good. The bubbles were perfectly chewy and they do not seem to use powdered milk so that is good. However, I do not think they let you adjust for sugar and ice like kung fu tea does. Maybe they do and we just weren't aware? It would be nice if you could ask to reduce the amount of sugar. This place isn't cheap compared to some other places in Chinatown. Lunch for 3 was about 60 bucks (before tip). However, we did each get a bubble tea and those will run you about 4 dollars each. Disclaimer: This was my first experience with a Taiwanese restaurant. I generally love many kinds of Asian restaurants, but won't be returning to this one. The crispy bbq pork was good - different and well-prepared. Liked the turnip soup that comes with your entree. The chicken wings were ok but totally normal. Otherwise, things did not go so well. The spring rolls and dumplings were greasy and the fillings had gristle in them. The pork in the bento box has a mushy texture and was not at all appetizing. We didn't make a fuss about it as some of the meal was decent, but we left wondering why yelpers rate it as highly as they do. read more

The beef in noodles is hard to chew and the soup of noodles tastes like keep cooking again and again. The popcorn chicken and crispy BBQ pork look same, but the crispy BBQ pork is super salty. The mixed berry square Q is quite oily. read more

My first visit here and I was very impressed. The food was absolutely fresh and delicious. The servers were very attentive and easily available for questions and assistance. The restaurant itself is very clean (as well as the restroom) and uncluttered. Taipei has an extensive milk tea selection that would work for every taste bud out there! I liked the milk tea but the food itself wasn't good. The portions were small and the cost was high in comparison. The flavor was bland and the food was nothing close to what was pictured. I did like the app tofu dish. The service was nice, although they forgot to offer us any water or tea until almost the end of our meal. Guess they were too busy. I do not have refined taste buds to differentiate between all of the cuisines from Asia so if you're looking for a review that reports authentic tasting food, then this isn't it. I just know that everything I ate tasted delicious. From the bao, to the pork rice bowl, and tasting my mom's danzai soup, I enjoyed it all. We got there sorta close to closing time so I just got something small and Taipei Milk Tea. oh boy that milk tea is the best milk tea i've ever had, Not too sweet which is perfect. Back in LA I haven't had a good good milk tea, most are very sweet and some places water it down. But man I'm craving this place, the food was excellent as well. Had family in from out of town and wanted something different. So we went here, was not impressed with the food. Had the sausage, had a funny taste to it and the pork chops were over cooked for me. We had some other dishes that were not memorable, the dessert was the only thing about the meal. Mango ice dish, can't remember the name of the dish. It was refreshing and couldn't get enough of it. The first time I got carry out. Couldn't find a menu online so I went there to order food. The girl worked in the front didn't know much English so I had to point out what I wanted. After paying for my food she told me they didn't have what I wanted so I ordered something else and they didn't have that either. Kinda disappointing but the food I order wasn't bad it was pretty good. But they did forgot my soup that came with my meal. So the next day I had a taste for the food again. I got smart and took a menu and order ahead of time. Got there and they made my order wrong and had to wait longer. After they fixed my food they forgot my soup again. So I had to wait again. So overall the food is good but if you doing carry out and you speak English please make them repeat your order and make sure it's right when you pick it up before you leave. They really need someone that is bilingual that answers the phone. Maybe dining in will be a better experience. read more

I was very excited when I saw this place opening. I am a huge fan of beef noodle soup and I was thrill that a Taiwanese place was opening by my area. They have a parking lot in the front, but spots are pretty limited, so it will probably be easier to park in the streets. The menu is pretty small, but you can definitely find a bunch of stuff to order ranging from appetizers to main courses and desserts. We started with the Popcorn Chicken, Potstickers, and Oyster Omelet for appetizers. The appetizers were good and probably one of the best things we ordered. The oyster omelet was different for me and the way it was made was very good. The texture and consistency is different from the omelets I am accustomed too, but very good still! The Spicy Beef Noodle Soup was very bland. I had this from many different places and sadly this was probably the worse. The drinks we ordered are pretty standard and didn't really stand out. I had the Matcha Green Tea with Red Bean and it was just okay. The Matcha Squares are a must get. It was really good. Overall, a meal here can be pretty expensive if you order full course with a drink and dessert, but the food does not match the price range. I would honestly come back here in the future for just the appetizers and desserts. read more

This is my new go to spot for noodle soups and craves for bubble tea. I usually order the spicy beef tendon noodle soup and get a pretty big portion of noodles so I never end up finishing it but if you're someone who can eat, I would say one bowl can fill you up pretty good in under $10. I'm a bit picky with my milk tea where the taste of milk and tea has to balance out and texture on the tapioca has to be soft and chewy enough whereas it's not hard so this is the place to go! I kind of wished they had more variety on the food menu though but other than that, you need to give this place a try! read more

I always order food delivery from them and I really like their food, but I think I'm gonna stop eating from here cause it keeps making me nauseous and I always end up vomiting. My friend is the same as well. I think they are not using good quality food supplies. Got the Danzai noodle and pearl milk tea. The milk tea was better than what you can get at a kungfu tea or chatime. The Danzai noodle was not good at all even though I read so many good reviews about it. Soup base was bland. Noodles weren't chewy enough. Shrimp was tasteless and not fresh. I like this place for their beef noodle soup and some of the appetizers. Drinks are good but kind of pricey. People have different preferences when it comes to the beef in beef noodle soup, but I'd prefer if it was leaner with the fat and tough parts removed. It can be kind of hit or miss here. It would be nice if, in addition to the spicy beef noodle soup and tomato beef noodle soup, they would sell those same dishes without the beef for a cheaper price -- just broth, noodles, and vegetables (like 牛肉湯麵). read more

Ok. My first review on Yelp and it has to be a bad one sorry to say. I was really excited to hear there was a new Taiwanese restaurant around but we were very very disappointed. First of all the service was terrible! The price was reasonable but to have that bad of service it wasn't worth it. The beef noodle soup was a joke. Nothing like the authentic Taiwanese beef noodle soup. At least the drinks were good. If you want some really good beef noodle soup don't have the one there. It's terrible. Tried a few things on the menu last friday. Pickled cucumber - good Crispy pork - very fatty, could have been fried longer for more crisp. Dan Zai Noodle Soup - Broth has very bland flavor, noodles themselves could be tastier. Bao - fantastic Service needs a bit more coordination.
