Crispy & Salty Popcorn Chicken CURRY COMBO Fried Chicken Cutlet Over Rice Tainan Braised Pork Over rice Deep Fried Tofu Braised Pork
    Maddie T.

Such a cute restaurant on State street! Nice place to hang out and get a quick meal with friends. We got the tainan braised pork over rice, the fried chicken cutlet curry combo, crispy salty popcorn chicken, and deep fried tofu braised pork. All were very good, but I liked the braised pork the best! It was so flavorful and delicious, I only wish the ratio of pork to rice was more balanced. Both of our bowls were left with a lot of rice when we were done eating, which I hate to have go to waste. The two sides were really good, I always like taiwanese popcorn chicken and this was excellent! I didn't know what to expect from the tofu, but it really was a crispy block of fried tofu with a scoop of the braised pork on top, delicious! Service is fast, you can order at the kiosk or at the window. Utensils / napkins / water are self serve and you bus the dishes in that same area. I will definitely return when I am in the area!

Taiwan Little Eats never misses! One of my all-time favorite restaurants in Madison. Their bubble teas are aromatic, the food is flavorful, and the restaurant itself is clean, has cute decor, and a homey vibe. The staff are also friendly! I have never been to Taiwan so personally I don't know how it feels, but when I eat at TLE, I feel as though I am eating in Taiwan, haha. Will continue coming here, whether it be for a quick bubble tea or a good meal. (:

Fried chicken cutlet oil noodle with curry sauce spicy

I took out lunch from here on a week day. Lunch was ready in 10 minutes. Fried chicken cutlet with oil noodle with curry sauce was my item. I ordered it spicy. I would say spicy was mild for me. Chcicken cutlet was fried nice and crisp. I think rice would have been better than oil noodle, especially when taking curry sauce. Curry sauce with oil noodle gets a bit wierd.

Authentic-ish, but good! Right on the State Street drag with all the ethnic restaurants, this feels more like a artsy coffee house than a small plates joint. From the eclectic art and furniture, to the compostable bamboo boba straws, it didn't look like traditional Taiwanese restaurant. But the food was good and the service was friendly. // Danzai Noodles A nice soup noodle dish with meat, shrimp, and veggies. The egg noodles were nice and chewy, the meat juicy, and the soup satisfying. There was a tea egg on there too. // Pork Belly on Rice Another traditional dish, with fatty meat on rice. They had some simple veggies, broccoli and carrots(?), but whatever. The meat was good. And hey, there was a tea egg! // Ginger Onion Chicken over Rice TBH, it *was* ginger, green onions, and chicken over rice. But we also know this dish as Hainan chicken. It was good, with the scallions sauteed in seasame oil. Winner! // Tea Eggs They have a big pot next to the register. Some of the dishes have tea eggs already, but you can never have too much tea egg. At $1.50 each, lets hope inflation doesn't push it up much more. The boba shop items were just okay. We did love the choice of boba straws. They had the traditional gyre bound plastic straws, but they also had bamboo straws. They still crack if you're not careful, but they're way better for the environment. -- Brown sugar milk tea, okay. The boba was chewy, but not as sweet as it should have been. -- Pouchong milk tea, which is a specialty mountain tea roasted just right. Flavor was good. -- Taiwanese style milk tea pretty standard. I dunno, if I wasn't eating, I probably wouldn't come here just for the tea.

Tiny hole in the wall. And it survived the pandemic. I love supporting small, family owned restaurants like this. And, I love eating here: no reservations, no fancy menus, no pretensions. As a native Taiwanese, I found the flavors authentic and delicious. Bring some friends or eat alone. Order a selection of small dishes and sample them all. Some of my faves? Tea-egg, minced pork over rice, boba tea. But really you won't go wrong with any of it.

TLE is a cute tiny place hidden off of state street. There's only street parking so you'll have to walk to get there. Not being from Madison, my husband and I did get lost walking from where we parked to find TLE. TLE is a cute little Cafe which has a drink menu and food menu. All the good sounded so good and after reviewing many other reviews, I also got a fruit smoothie. My husband ordered the Curry chicken cutlet rice bowl. I ordered the Pork belly rice bowl, pork taco bao and a the passion fruit smoothie. Everything was delicious! I could not stop drinking my smoothie. Best I've had - hands down. The tapioca pearls were still warm and this is definitely how a fruit smoothie/Bubba tea should taste like! Sad I didn't think to order one more to go. Or dishes were phenomenal. The cherry chicken was well balanced and not too over powering. The pork belly rice bowl was also well balanced. I'm not a big Bamboo person but the carrots, broccoli and sauce really balanced with the bamboo. The pork belly is a must! Seasoned well, not too salty sweet, and the fat just melts in your mouth! Cooked to perfection! Will definitely be visiting again whenever we are in town!

    G1. Giant Fried Chicken Cutlet
    Lico J.

If you like fried chicken, you have to try the Giant Fried Chicken Cutlet here. Fresh and very hot out of kitchen, the chicken cutlet is perfectly seasoned w salt and a bit five spices and fried to be very crispy. I like it's thin and large so every bite is delightful and you can enjoy it for a while haha. The restaurant itself is very cute and the servers are all very friendly. Next time when I go to Madison I will try other things on their menu which looks pretty diversified and authentic.

I was visiting Madison on a business trip and came across this quaint, little Taiwanese eatery. Authentic Taiwanese food is hard to find in most cities. So I was eager to check this place out. I ordered a Chiayi chicken rice bowl, fried squid balls, and a bubble tea. I'm happy to report that everything was delicious. My only regret is that they didn't have the Teppan steak over noodles for lunch and that was the one thing I really wanted to get. Oh well, I'll have to come back for dinner next time.

Got takeout. Danzai noodles and pork belly over rice. It was pretty good, the meat was fairly tasty and the noodles were good quality etc. Pork belly was a lil fatty, but to be expected. However, there was very little flavor, especially with the pork belly. Like the meat itself had seasoning but nothing else did. Maybe they forgot the sauce? I would go again but order different things, prob the bubble tea.

Atmosphere (5/5): The atmosphere was satisfactory. There were props reminiscent of Taiwan, the interior of the store was clean, and the sound of music in the store was not loud enough to interfere with conversation. Service (4/5): You can order through the staff or through the kiosk, so you won't have to wait long to order your food. The staff taking orders are friendly. However, after eating, each person need to put their plates and trays away in a designated area, just like at a fast food restaurant. Food(5/5): The food is very nice for the price. In the case of bento, the rice is not seasoned, so it feels a bit bland, but the danzai noodle menu and the meat (proteins) included in the bento were really tasty. I also recommend milk tea for dessert. Price: $20 per person (including tips)

    Smoothies (16oz) - Lychee

Order: Lychee smoothie My go to smoothie place in Madison! This place is absolutely incredible - HIGHLY RECOMMEND. Both the lychee and mango smoothies are excellent - sweet, fresh, crisp and delicious. Service is always friendly and quick and the inside is very comfortable and homey.

TLE is such a cute spot on state! Good drinks, tasty food, and fun vibes. I got the popcorn chicken meal with a side of veggies. The chicken was crispy and flavorful. The only critique I have is that the portions of the protein are on the smaller side compared to the amount of rice. I was satisfied with my meal but can definitely see it not being enough for others. Otherwise, it's a great spot and I love stopping by when I'm in Madison!

Looking for Taiwanese food in Madison WI? Well, here it is! Taiwan Little Eats offers great varieties delicious traditional Taiwanese snack food and refreshing boba tea to pair with. This place also has a fantastic relaxing vibe, friendly staffs and cozy interior style. What I ordered: Fried Pork Rib On Rice - The pork was perfectly seasoned, crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. This dish was also paired with sweet baby corn, steam broccoli with creamy sauce, potato, tea egg, pickled vegetables and steam white rice. Tea Egg - The fried pork rib on rice I ordered came with half of the tea egg. It was so good that I had to order another one separately. Great addition to your meal or enjoy it just alone as a snack! You really can't go wrong. Jasmine Green Milk Tea - Simply refreshing! I had the tea without boba, 25% sugar (if you don't want the tea too sweat) also less ice. Everyone knows that boba tea not only it will make your meals better but also your days as well! I can't wait for the next time to visit this amazing little spot again! Until next time Madison!

She was very careful about our allergy concerns and made sure to take care of us (my daughter has a severe fish allergy and needed her ramen free of fish cake & sauce). The Thai boba tea was delicious, too. I discovered that I prefer Thai ice tea better without boba, but I really enjoyed it in this form, as well. I enjoyed the clean and comfortable atmosphere. I was thankful for the interior photograph left by a previous Yelper because the Yelp reviews I read didn't mention that the place had a dine-in an option. The dining space want just accommodating, but lovely, as well.

For an appetizer, I had the gyoza, and it was perfect. Evenly fried and steamed, even if it was just frozen stuff from the bag like at the Japanese restaurant I used to work at, it was at least prepared with skill. My main entree was the garlic miso ramen. And while each component worked on its own, all of them put together made it seem less as a whole. My biggest issues were the chashu pork which came out a little overcooked. I know the reason, and probably shouldn't hold it against them, but it reminded me a bit of the overcooked pork of my childhood. The other issue was the broth. It was sweet on the backend, which really didn't do it for me the more I've thought about it. I'm not sure if it was the pork broth or the tare. My suspicion lies heavier towards the tare than the broth, but I could be wrong. Either way, I felt that such noticeable sweetness was out of place especially since it did too much to counter the garlic flavor. I suspect it was there to do that for those who don't like a heavy garlic flavor, but then again, if you don't like garlic flavor, you shouldn't be ordering something labeled as garlic on the menu. I will say that marinating the egg was a nice touch and gave it a depth of flavor that typically isn't there from other ramen places I've tried. Otherwise, it was good overall, it just felt like it didn't completely come together with the sweetness of the broth and the pork being a tad overcooked. Still, despite perhaps not looking like it, Zen Ramen was a solid little ramen shop on the East Side and I would not oppose going back to try some of their other ramen bowls. It might not blow your mind if you're a regular ramen connoisseur, but is still a solid spot if you want something affordable and unpretentious.

When I arrived, there was only one person waiting for an order, so I was able to place mine right away. However, it ended up taking quite a while for the drinks to be prepared. We had also ordered a whole pizza from Ian's Pizza, and we received and finished the pizza before our drinks were ready. In fact, I didn't get the notification that the drinks were ready until after we were done eating. The drinks themselves were good, but the wait time was surprisingly long, especially considering how few people appeared to be waiting. When I picked up my order, the customer who had been waiting before me was still there as well. Overall, I enjoyed the bubble tea, but I would be prepared for a potentially long wait.

When they use the cup sealer it's not sealed properly, sometimes it's got two of the seals, sometimes it's just not sealed on all the way. And then if that's okay well then the straw is too small so every boba bit gets stuck. Oh man but if those two are okay then it's the boba pearls itself. Ahh. Boba is not a new concept for me, I've had my fair share but when the boba is so over cooked that some of it seems to be melted and that as you sip the slush you are also accidentally swallowing the pearls because they're so soft, small, and mushy that you can't even feel it in your mouth until its too late. Completely different from someone swallowing a boba pearl that is firm and round where the moment it enters your mouth and is no longer in the straw you are aware. And because the pearls are so warm, it melts the bottom of your slush. Sure you can swirl it around but it'll still melt the nearby slush. It shouldn't be too warm or borderline hot. If I wanted milk tea I would've just ordered that. And then, on top of all that if if IF all that seems to be fine. It's the wait time. It seems like it takes so long to get your drink if there's people ordering food. Like if you go in and it's a board game meet up, good luck. It's gonna be a half hour for 2 slushy drinks. If they cannot work under the pressure of having to serve their whole space full of people in a board game meet up group, then just say it's for a private event or something. You don't even wait that long at bubbling teapot if you're getting drinks when the nearby schools have just gotten out. Honestly so ridiculous, and I forgot to mention that the taro flavor varies. Sometimes it's good like something you'd get in the PNW and sometimes it's a hint of taro, sometimes it tastes like a mouth full of powder. I'll give it 2 stars because when it's good it's good, but when is it good? Hmm well not when they're in a rush so get there right when they open IF they open on time?

They truly live up to their name "Hot-N-Spicy". The cultural significance of the chili pepper often represents hospitality, warmth, and resilience! They bring all the spice and don't hold back! If you are not used to spice/spicy hot dishes, I suggest you start at level one spice and work your way up. They will ask you on dishes made with chili peppers what spice level you want 1-4 and can even make it hotter also! Hot-N-Spicy is genuinely unique because they offer Issan food dishes and flavors that is uniquely from the Issan/Isan Northeast region of Thailand that is heavily influenced by Lao and Cambodian flavors with the use of heat, fresh herbs, and use of fish sauce that brings different flavors different from other regions of Thailand. Hot-N-Spicy used to be located in the back of the Viet Hoa Market. It is now located next door from the market in a larger space in the same strip mall that allows for a more comfortable sit-down seating experience of a full restaurant. I have tried almost everything on their menu and have never been disappointed! For appetizers, I love their angel wings which are deboned chicken wings stuffed with chicken, carrot, and bean thread noodles fried to pure crispy perfection! Their most popular selling appetizers are their amazingly addictively delicious crab rangoons! Their chicken satay is also a must try! I also recommend trying their beef jerky which is so delicious, it often sells out quickly during the day! Their main entrees are so outstanding, it is hard to order one entree! My absolute favorite that I recommend is their steak Laab which is the best Laab I have had in Madison! It is heavily influenced with Isaan flavors/culture with minced beef, tripe, red onion, cilantro, mint, fresh lime juice, rice powder, fish sauce and scallions. I love the beef steak Laab because it is unlike anything you will ever taste with so much flavor from a combination of flavors with hint of sour with the lime, salty/umami/pungence from the fish sauce, balanced with refreshing different herbs, texture with the tripe, while the toasted rice powder gives this dish a tiny bit of crunch/texture that gives a subtle nutty flavor! This dish is a minced meat salad traditionally eaten with your hands and sticky rice/vegetables like cucumber. I also really enjoy their Pad Thai, Pho, and Crispy Noodle Lad Na! Your visit wouldn't be complete without quenching your thirst with either their Thai iced coffee/tea! Hot-N-Spicy remains at the top of my list for Thai/Lao cuisine! If you are looking for true authentic flavors/traditionally prepared dishes, definitely try Hot-N-Spicy!

I ordered level 1 spice, and it was the perfect amount of heat without overwhelming the dish. The homemade curry paste, coconut milk, basil, peppers, and jasmine rice came together beautifully. It's also been great to see this local business grow. What started as a takeout spot inside Viet Hoa Market has expanded into a larger space on Monona Drive, and it's easy to see why. The food is consistently delicious, the portions are generous, and the new location offers plenty of seating.
