No complaints here! Nice staff Delicious, simple Ramen meals Optional additional toppings Sushi, bao buns, rice bowls and appetizers for those that want to forego ramen or have an extra dish The Ramen was excellent and quality noodles. They were the straight kind, not the wavy kind. Nicely seasoned pork, egg and bamboo - one my favorite ramen garnishes. Maybe they can add a garnish or two for their base bowl but the price is actually reasonable compared to other places, so I'm not complaining. Will most likely be back. Definitely worth a try if you're in the area. But don't expect Tonkatsu because it's not on the menu :)

I really enjoyed this Ramen spot. The service was really kind and fast. Had a bite to eat at lunch. I will say that the prices are a little bit higher than I was expecting. I spent about $21 on a single person at lunch. The food was great! I had a fried chicken plate with shrimp fried rice. Funny enough I didn't even have Ramen! I will next time though. The shrimp was really good as well and I also liked to be boiled egg in my dish. Quiet little lunch spot in the energy corridor/memorial area. Shout out to my server, she was great. Clean and unique. Plenty of parking but during lunchtime, it will get busy.

Solid ramen spot! There's a lot of app options- the takoyaki was solid (more of a sphere of batter filled with octopus rather than a blend of octopus in a batter shaped into balls). I got the spicy quartz ramen, which had a good medium spice level. The noodles were bouncy and the broth was flavorful. I got it with chicken, I think it'd be better with pork. But a good option for people who don't eat pork! Can also make it vegan which is cool!

Must try! Service and atmosphere: Very good and attentive customer service. Good food knowledge and spot on advice. The restaurant is nicely decorated and organised. It won't make you feel like you are in an overcrowded place. Food and drinks: Ramens are outstanding. Vegetable based broth, great flavours and seasoning, right amount of spices, perfectly tea stained egg. Tokoyaki was great too. Green tea tiramisu was a good finish to a tasty meal. The restaurant offers alcoholic beverages. Pricing: $$ - entire experience was worth the price.

The ramen here left a lot to be desired. There wasn't a very strong flavor to the broth, and that was really my biggest pain point for this dish. It's definitely a lighter option for ramen if you like it, I just think it's really lacking in flavor. The building its in isn't very old, so the facilities are pretty solid and aesthetics are nice. I'd say, though, you're better off elsewhere.

I liked the ambiance of Rakkan since the ramen bar reminded me of Japan. They have a large variety of different soup bases all named after gem stones. I tried the quartz which is a creamy base. The toppings are two pieces of pork and an egg with some vegetables. I loved the cream base soup. The noodles were too but had a good chewiness to them. My friend got the amber which was more mushroom base and she let me have some. It wasn't as good as my quartz in the richness of broth. Service was excellent and they got us extra bowls and refilled our waters. Good experience with Rakkan food-wise. It was a little pricey but I appreciated the atmosphere and the good service.

The food was flavorful, hot and fresh! I enjoyed the quaint and cozy dining experience right in the middle of Westheimer. Fry the Japanese soda, you won't regret it

This Rakkan location is excellent! For starters, we enjoyed delicious Takoyaki. I had the creamy truffle vegan ramen (customized with chicken) for my main course, while my child enjoyed the kids' meal with miso, chicken, and fries. The Spicy Garnet was delicious as well. Our server, Thanh Q, provided outstanding service throughout our visit. The restaurant's cleanliness and attentive staff made for a wonderful dining experience. Highly recommend! FYI: Parking isn't complicated.

Creamy vegetable broth ramen. Amazing how they got this to taste like a tonkotsu broth! I added the green onions myself.

Nicely located close to our office during a business trip to Houston. Wasn't my first choice but due to time, made the stop in, Was a little suspect on the vegetable broth but the waiter proved me wrong. It was legit! Creamy Vegetable broth was fire! Ramen Noodles were on point and right up my alley for how I like them. Would go back again for sure and add to the regular visit list. Nicely done Raman Ramen team. Miso Ramen to go. Boring.

Heard alot about this place and finally tried it. Large menu but I only tried the Miso Ramen, to go. Was not impressed with lackluster broth and overall taste of everything. I do not like the fact that you fact you do not have the option to customize bowls. I will give this place one more try because there were items that seemed interesting.

I came here for their HRW, which I got to choose one appetizer, two bowls of ramen (regular size), and a dessert. The salmon sushi was ok. I found it weird to see scallion on top of the salmon sushi. I waited long for my 2 bowls of ramen. The spicy chilled mazen wasn't spicy though the menu stated "mildly spicy". Spice level is zero. The noodles had the right coldness, but the bell peppers didn't go well with the rest of the ingredients. The garnet ramen's broth was flavorful, and the noodles were good. I enjoyed it. I had the yuzu sorbet for dessert but it wasn't a sorbet. It was yuzu flavored crushed ice with small diced yuzu fruit. It was refreshing and a good ending to a full meal. The restaurant has a good number of seatings for big and small groups. There is plenty of parking spaces in the free parking lot.

Rakkan Ramen is an outstanding chic little ramen shop serving authentic Japanese ramen, rice bowls, sushi rolls, baos, gyoza, and other dishes. It's the newest Houston location from the Rakkan franchise that originates from Japan. Notably, all their ramen broths are vegetarian, and vegan options are also available. While we were skeptical that they would still be as flavorful as bone broths, we were blown away by the depth of flavor! Vibe: we went around 2pm on a Saturday for a BOGO special they were having. The restaurant is kinda small and beautifully decorated with a modern aesthetic. There's high tables, standard tables, and some bar seating in front of the kitchen. We sat at the bar area. Service: The servers and hostess were very kind, quick, and welcoming. We added our names to the waitlist and waited about 5-7 minutes since it was pretty busy. If there's a longer line when you go, you could go next door and grab a drink from Long coffee - we saw a couple others do that. The food came our pretty quickly after ordering, and the server did a good job explaining the menu and the deal since it was our first time. Food: Rakkan Ramen prides itself on its umami factor, one of the five basic tastes. It's that element of savoriness or depth of flavor that you often get from Japanese foods, especially ramen. However, their ramen is made with a vegetable broth and no meat or seafood, which is not usually done. We were pretty skeptical that the soup would attain the same level of flavor without meat (like our favorite pork bone broth ramen, tonkotsu), but we were blown away by how delicous and truly umami these soups were! We ordered the spicy beef gyoza, Garnet ramen, and Quartz ramen. The gyoza came right out of the fryer and were served with a lemon wedge, a dab of red spicy paste, and a soy-based dipping sauce with green onions. The gyoza were steaming hot, exterior was super crunchy, inside of the wrapper was soft, and the ratio of meat and veggies inside was perfect. The dipping sauce was incredible, and had soy sauce, citrus (yuzu?), and some other things that added further complexity to the flavor. The red paste had a good spicy kick and a surprising amount of flavor. I actually ended up liking the dipping sauce and red paste so much that I ended up dropping some in my ramen to further amp up the flavor. The garnet ramen had some miso in the creamy base, came with two slices of chashu, a marinated egg, bamboo shoots, and green onion. The quartz was the same, but we substituted the chashu for chicken kaarage. The portions are huge! The broths were full of umami and depth, and super creamy like tonkotsu. We really liked it! Chashu was tender and juicy. The kaarage was also juicy and delicious. We thought it wouldn't be that good since it wouldn't be crunchy anymore in the soup, but we were pleasantly surprised to find that it was still great! It tasted like it was also marinated because it had some additional flavors, like something citrusy and savory. The egg was cooked perfectly, and not too sweet in the center. I tried the chili oil provided at the table, and it paired well with the soup too. It has a lot of flavor and is actually kinda spicy, some sesame oil notes in there. Interestingly, the noodles are whole wheat so they are healthier than the traditional noodle. However, they still tasted great and were cooked perfectly. Perhaps because of how the soup is 100% plant-based and the noodles are whole wheat, we did not feel super bloated or full after eating them unlike when we eat at other more traditional ramen shops. I'd imagine this soup is also much healthier and has less calories, which is a big plus with ramen since it is usually so calorie-dense! Overall, everything we had at Rakkan Ramen was extraordinary and we will definitely be back for more. If you love ramen, you must give this place a try! This place is Let's Eat Houston approved .

    Chicken Karaage

We wanted to try something new. We saw the great reviews. It was quiet night when we got there. Only one other couple was eating. We were quickly shown to our table. For starters, we ordered the chicken karaage. It was ok. The batter was nothing special. The salad dressing was tasty. It was not crispy but they did use dark meat so it was juicy. We order two of the ramen... one with Miso based broth and soy sauce base broth. Oh yeah, they are using plant based broth and not the typical chicken or pork broth. The noodes were firm and came with 2 pieces of char shiu, half egg and bamboo. It does not come with additional toppings like others have like seaweed or mushroom/fungi. Only found out later those were additional toppings. It will get a little pricey with the additional toppings. Food is 3/5. Server was attentive and made sure our drinks were full and dropped by often. Not sure it was bec we were the only customer at that time but we appreciate it.... 5/5. Not sure why the overall high rating as food was average. Maybe bec of the excellent service?

I was very surprised. And my broth was so delicious. It had such a rich umami flavor due to the miso & I thought the spice level was perfect. Honestly - I could eat jhst that broth for a whole meal. Unlike buldak or some other spicy ramens - the main selling point wasn't the spice. You could get an additional "spice bomb" if you wanted some more heat. The ramen toppings were good but not outstanding - same with the noodles. I thought the "mi-so-hot" was easily 3x better than "the og". The broth in "the og" was pretty interesting and more unique tasting. It felt like the main notes were just umami, pork, and oil. Not bad, but felt like it was missing a little something to make it truly good. If I had just got the OG, I'd rate this place a bit lower - but as it stands I'd 100% come back here for the "mi-so-hot" The interior was pretty nice. It was more "communal style seating" with a couple of big tables. There is also some smaller booths. It's an "order at the counter" type restaurant as well. I saw several comments about parking & was a bit concerned when driving over. I know that part of westheimer is always packed! But there is an attached parking lot & at 3pm on a Sunday, there was plenty of parking! Also - there is some street parking in the neighborhood north of the shop. Overall - will 100% be coming back for some more spicy ramen. Would recommend

Tantan Tsukemen - Very interesting broth. Potent, salty, and full of bold flavor. My friend swapped the pork for chicken, and the chicken worked really well with the broth. They serve the chicken as a cold cut. This is a double-noodle dish with a soy milk-based dipping sauce. I normally would have ordered this because I LOVE tantan ramen, but I had to forgo it for the limited-time Creamy Truffle Ramen. Creamy Truffle Ramen - LOVED the broth. It was very light and creamy. I actually liked this a lot more than tonkotsu ramen. The truffle wasn't too overwhelming--just mild enough to hint at its flavor without becoming the only flavor profile you get. Truffle is like baking with rose water; finding that balance is quite hard. I will admit the whole table smelled like truffles, though. The torched king oyster mushroom paired wonderfully with the dish, and the broccolini was an equally interesting topping choice. I also found bits of melted Parmesan throughout the ramen, which the menu listed as an ingredient. The egg wasn't the best I've ever had, but it was still a decent soy egg. As I kept eating, the truffle oil became more intense, and the fattiness started to get a bit overwhelming without washing it down with water. Great flavor overall, but I think this dish is best paired with an appetizer to help cut through the richness. One of my favorite things about this place, which my BF mentioned, was the noodle texture. I noticed it too as I ate--a good bite with a slick texture that was just starchy enough to cling to the broth. We had leftover noodles from the Tantan Tsukemen at the end of the meal and ended up using the Creamy Truffle broth as a dipping sauce. Honestly, no regrets. The cold noodles didn't work quite as well in this dish, but the broth was definitely a banger. This was also the first ramen broth I couldn't finish but desperately wanted to bring home. (Obviously, I did.) Their to-go containers are surprisingly sleek, too. It's a weird thing to compliment, but I almost wanted to keep the container as much as the broth. Special comment on the utensils here--the soup spoons are ridiculously cute! Would love to have a similar set at home. Overall, the atmosphere was pleasant, and the service was thoughtful. The music wasn't too loud, and it wasn't that crowded for a Saturday night. They do play a lot of popular Japanese songs, so if you're an international music enthusiast, you'll appreciate hearing "Mayonaka no Door" by Miki Matsubara.

One waitress served everyone in the restaurant while I was there. She was speedy in taking and delivering orders. She seemed very nice! Food: ordered Tonkotsu Gachi and my mom ordered the yuzu. Food arrived very quickly, though we ordered no appetizers. The tonkotsu broth was rich and velvety in texture, but more like a mild umami in flavor. The chashu pork was pale, but melt in your mouth buttery and bursting with savory pork goodness! The marinated egg wasn't brought up to temperature with the broth -- a little cooler than room temperature, with a medium oozy yolk. It felt like the marinade penetrated all through to the yolk -- it was great! I welcomed the novel choice to use red onion over the usual scallions. It was a nice touch of color and brought in that bright, juicy onion flavor that I crave. Noodles were perfect texture. Not too hard or mushy. This bowl feels made to focus on the broth and flavor and not so much an instagram post. Delicious!! My only complaint was a very very very slight bitterness in the background. I couldn't pin where it was coming from. Maybe that's a risk of simmering bones for so long. I'll keep this short because I couldn't just eat my moms bowl... The flavor on the pork in the rice dish was better, but the rice was overcooked and mushy. I gave up on my bowl about halfway through and left unsatisfied. I don't think I'll be back.

Great sizzling & ramen spot in Bellaire + more…read more Really enjoyed our visit at Toyori in Bellaire. The food was delicious, flavorful, and comforting, and the service was friendly throughout our meal. The ambiance was nice and relaxing, making it a great place to sit down and enjoy ramen with family and friends. There were 18 in our group, so there was understandably a bit of a wait to accommodate us, but it was definitely worth the wait. Definitely recommend trying this place if you're craving good ramen and Asian fusion dishes in the Bellaire area! The Ribeye sizzling plate is a MUST-try--especially with their signature sauce. So flavorful and satisfying. Their takoyaki tasted so authentic, it felt like being in Japan--another must-try Overall, an excellent dining experience and we would definitely come back again!

Tried Toyori recently and honestly the experience was a mix for me…read more I had their sizzling beef before and wasn't too impressed, so this time I decided to try the ramen. It was decent, but nothing that really stood out flavor wise. The food overall was okay at best in my opinion. What I did enjoy was the ambiance and atmosphere. The restaurant has really nice decorations and a cozy vibe that makes it a pleasant place to hang out. The staff was also attentive and friendly throughout the visit, which I appreciated. While the food didn't fully win me over, the service and environment definitely made the experience better.
