I went to Taj Mahal Masala today and had the best experience. The decor made me feel as if I had stepped out of Vero for an hour or two. The service was attentive, helpful in choosing our dishes, and prompt. Our meals were fabulous I had chicken Rogan Josh medium spicy and garlic naan. The rice was perfectly cooked. My partner had butter chicken mild as she doesn't tolerate spicy and she was super happy. Yum! I reviewed Taj Mahal when it first reopened and it was decent, but after today's experience I am sad to say I will not be returning. I must first give credit to the lovely employees who were so kind and gave wonderful service when I ordered Togo with my husband. But that is the only pleasant part. Sitting waiting for our food, I noticed that the interior of the restaurant is not very clean. There were smudges, dirt, and dust all over the walls, doors, and host stand. Not the most pleasant to see while waiting for food as it made me question the sanitation of the kitchen if that's how the entry..where every customer sees, is maintained. We received our food after about 35 minutes waiting, which was fine as we know fresh food takes time. But upon opening it at home, it was not as expected. The Tandoori mixed platter was sitting in two inches of oil. The flavor lacked any depth despite the spice level being sufficient, it was quite unflavorful. The portion of rice we received with it was also not enough for the portion of meat so I had to cook more at home myself.. We also ordered garlic Paneer Naan, I immediately opened it as I was excited for it, but it was absolutely cold and mushy! We live not even 10 minutes from the restaurant so there is no way it should be cold. Also it had no paneer. The only nice thing I can say about this meal is the mint chutney was nice. We were pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food at this place. We had avoided it for years after an unpleasant experience, but since it's now under new ownership we gave it a try. We were delighted with the dishes we tried out. Our waitress was very nice, and checked on us regularly. We had appetizers and soup and shared the vegetable madras curry and garlic naan. All tasty. The naan could have been baked a little longer for my personal taste but other than that no comments. The restaurant is in one of Vero's older buildings; this is probably the only decent place in the entire building. It looks abandoned on the other side! Ate here a few months ago, and it was not bad. We went again last week, and it was pretty disappointing. First, I wonder if they even have a tandoor oven. Lately, I've been receiving some odd naan, certainly not made in a tandoor. Last time we were there, naan was not great, and this time, even worse. Indian food is pretty much my favorite cuisine and have had it all over the world. Sadly, I hear from people how they don't like curry, and the meal I had is the kind of meal that will certainly turn people off Indian food. Our samosa were ok, not quite sure if they use besan for the crust. Chutneys with them were watery, cilantro and tamarind. Husband got the paneer chili and I figured it was coming in that generic red sauce that goes on cheap Chinese food, and yes, that's what it was. Husband got chicken malvani, now that was tasty. Its flavor didn't hold as a leftover, but during dinner, it was quite nice. I got lamb bhuna. According to the menu it is packed with intense flavor and minimal sauce. According to what I got, the sauce tasted of nothing but onion. One measly cilantro leaf on top Yes, it's a carmelized onion base, but I think some got a little scorched. I tasted zero spices and it was quite sauce-heavy. The lamb was nice, but a few gristly fatty pieces that were inedible. If a newbie ate this curry, they'd never order Indian food again. Very disappointing. I took leftovers home and put some spice into it, was a little better. Now the naan. What has happened to nice fluffy soft naan that is charred in a tandoor? I got garlic and my husband Kashmiri that's supposed to have a sweet-ish nutty filling. My naan - bread, whatever it was, I believe they serve everyone a roti and hope they don't know the difference - the first one was so slathered in ghee (was to be garlic naan) it was inedible. I sent it back. Asked for plain, so they brought me what I still believe is a roti, and it was not cooked properly so there were raw dough spots. Do they think people don't know the difference between a naan and a roti? So, I'm not quite sure we'll be back. We figured this might be a nice spot instead of having to drive to Melbourne, but I'll drive an hour for better food. read more

Food was quite good-Certainly the best Indian food in Vero. The prices are fair but on higher end of what I would expect for Indian as compared to other parts of Florida. I know that rent and cost of living is high so I understand it and can tolerate it. The biggest issue I had here is that the Air conditioning is awful and unless it's replaced I cannot eat inside the restaurant again. We don't order takeout from real restaurants we only take out foods like burritos or pizza because they don't lose much in translation, so please post when AC is COLD because I'd really like to go back. Everything I had was simply delicious! The Biryani rice was so flavorfu, the tiki masala had a very nice sauce, the Naan bread was sooo delicious! And my new favorite is Chicken 65! Chicken 65 is a new dish to me - it's a south Indian style very small breaded and fried chicken pieces/strips with a super flavorful, slightly sweet and spicy, and deeply savory cooked with curry leaves and cabbage on top for good texture andcontrast. I was lucky enough to get to dine at Taj Mahal Masala with my parents on a Saturday afternoon, and it was absolutely a triumph and a pleasure. My parents and brother have enjoyed it before, but this was my initial visit, and it lived up to and exceeded the significant hype. The restaurant is beautifully appointed inside, and the service and the team could not have been better. The mango lassi was an absolute dream, and I was quite impressed with the drink list, specifically the beer selection - great Indian and Nepalese options, from the delicious known to some really cool special options! We started with the vegetable samosas and the samosa chaat, both of which were amazing. Flavorful, perfectly seasoned, and not at all greasy. All of our entrees were fabulous, and the naan was absolutely perfect. I stuck with the Indian selections, although next time I think I might try some of the Nepalese options! The menu is diverse and fantastic - really unique and wonderful. We were lucky enough to get to spend some time with the owner, who couldn't have been more lovely and personable. This establishment is not only a wonderful addition to the Treasure Coast dining community, but is a beautiful treat to all who get to dine there. What a great find in Vero! I love Indian food and have eaten it all over the USA as well as Australia and the UK. This is one of the best I've been to. The food is amazing, the wait staff attentive. I went on a Wednesday night with a large group and everyone was pleased -we ate so fast i took no food photos ! Most of the group never had Indian cuisine before-spice levels vary and most had mild..everything from the Tandoori sampler to the Chicken Tikka,the Roti/Naan breads were perfect !! Rice accompanies most of the entrees. The moderate level spice is fairly hot if you don't frequent spice ..but not too much that you can't eat it!!! The pepper Calamari was excellent and I don't usually like seafood or lamb but i loved the lamb variations I tasted-they were perfectly seasoned ! There are many delicious vegan options also! ! I will definitely return to try more dishes! We were too full for dessert! Ambiance is nice and staff was great about ordering,choosing spice levels is an option for each dish. A friend and I went to the Taj Mahal Masala restaurant for lunch. We both had Chicken Tikka Masala Thali from the lunch menu. The serving was extremely generous--all those little dishes add up to quite a feast. You can have a mild, medium or hot level of spiciness. We both ordered "medium" heat level for our food and it was perfect. Our servers were attentive, friendly and more than happy to explain the dishes on our tray. The restaurant is small, quiet and pleasant. We sat in a booth near the window in the side dining room and were very comfortable. The lunch menu prices seem extremely reasonable. You get a lot of delicious food for the money. There is parking in the back and it was easy to get in and out. We look forward to eating there again. read more

Do I let the secret out, and fear I won't get in the next time I visit? The food is amazing: every dish we had was fantastic! The service was literally perfect: they noticed we were low on rice, and more rice appeared, without us even asking for it. I love Indian food, from all of the various regions, and I can tell you each dish was superb! Really hard to pick a favorite- from the Tikka Masala, the Lamb Vindaloo, tandoori, cauliflower-everything was spectacular! The best was talking with Been (the table next to us was so loud, we couldn't hear his name properly!), the owner/ manager. I wholeheartedly reviewed this restaurant last year and must tell you it is now even BETTER than ever. The exotic flavors explode in your mouth, while the heat levels are customized and controlled to your specific instructions. If I could order only one entree, it would be the Bhindi Masala. It's okra, tomatoes and onions in a magical blend of spices that tastes like nothing else. We had lunch there on New Year's Eve and took home two giant bags full of luscious food. I did not ask anyone to reinvent the recipe for the chicken tikka. The chicken tikka should already be marinated in the yogurt and spices and then cooked in the tandoori oven so all he had to do was take the chicken out of the tandoori oven put it on a plate and add some sautéed onion and green pepper. But taste of India in Melbourne makes premium chicken tikka and is worth every minute It takes to drive there and back to get it. Since I work in Palm Bay on Friday mornings, it's easy for me to drive 15 minutes north to the restaurant so I can have my chicken tikka when I get out around noon.
