This is the top Indian restaurant in the Midwest. We are originally from Chicago and had high expectations for catering for our wedding that was in Missouri. PJ Farhana and their staff over delivered for our wedding. We still have relatives from Florida, California and Texas that are still raving about how good the food was. What sold us about this place was the quality of the food. We tried out multiple lunch buffets and dinners around the midwest but none are on par with Taj Palace. The Butter Chicken was full of flavor. Sauce was nice and thick. You can choose level of spicy on the dishes. We also had Saag Paneer and the Tandoori Chicken. Both were really good. Food tasted fresh and we had a generous serving. The garlic naan was also very good. Workers were friendly but it got busy and you just had to call if you needed anything. Lamb Korma was the highlight of the evening! Very glad that they are in the neighborhood. I don't know much about Indian food but I decided that it was time to see what my teenage daughter thought of something new. An overwhelming success! The only down side is that we ordered too much food. An appetizer (naan w/lamb) plus two entrees was at least one entree too many and we both ate heartily. I travel a lot for work and due to that I dine out very often. I don't usually post about my experiences due to the sheer volume and probably a bit of laziness on my part but Taj Palace is definitely post worthy. A young man with a beard almost as cool as my own waited on me tonight. I ordered goat vindaloo and chili garlic naan. The young gentlemen was willing to alter the spice level of the dish at my request. I like spicy food! So out comes this succulent goat and buttery garlic naan with a hint of chili. It was excellent. The brownish red gravy had the perfect amount of spice that I knew I was going in for the long haul on the dish but wasn't going to sweat like wildebeest while getting after it. Delish!!! The really moving moment was on my way out as I was paying and the wonderful, motherly woman, who I assume was one of the owners, asked me if I had left room for dessert. I had gorged myself on the entree and naan that I just couldn't take in another bite. This just wouldn't due must have crossed her mind and she ran back into the kitchen and came back with a to-go pint of kier. My favorite. No charge. I got the sense that after such a wonderful meal that it was almost sacrilege to not have something cool to settle the tummy. That was a moment when you didn't feel like just another patron but for a moment you were sharing a meal with their family. It was a small gesture of kindness but it really grabbed my attention of what hospitality is really all about. If you are in the area, I strongly recommend you pop in for a meal at Taj Palace. My friend told us this restaurant is very good. We had a small lunch party here. All you can eat lunch buffet is very good. Every kind of curry is good. Goat curry is everyone's favorite. I also like the ginger milk tea. Self-sweeten is a very good idea. I love my milk tea less sweet. It is a pity that they only serve buffet every lunch, not for dinner. I ordered a "kabab dinner".... (spellings taken from restaurants website) It should have read "dinner for 2" or 3. With the $28 dinner I received soup (Dal lentil), flavored bread (Garlic Nan), two side dishes (a great cheesy peas & something else), rice plus a large plate of Indian spicy lamb sausage, my thought on Seekh Kabab, over vegetables. I also orders a very good Lager beer from India, but my ADD kicked in & I forgot to write it down. From others I tried the chicken vindaloos that had a descent kick to it, but not a burn. The lamb saag that tasted too much like the vegetables for me to think of as a main dish. I am not sure how much I like Indian food.... However, I did enjoy trying something different. In my view, good food means: flavor, taste, and presentation. I don't believe in keeping it authentic (there is no such thing). Food at Taj Palace tastes creamy and buttery...this is especially made for American pallet. This is not what we eat in India...not even close. It has a TON of calories but it tastes wonderful (who cares). Buffet is a standard menu- chicken tandoori, one chicken curry, beef kofta, 2 veg curries (spinach and navaratn kurma..mostly), veg biryani, rice, naans, pakora, gulabjam, kheer/mango pudding. This is what I ate every time I went. So pretty soon you'll be done with it. Service - very prompt. And most importantly - affordable. read more

We went at noon on a Saturday. Parking was easy. The restaurant was quite popular at this time due to the buffet, but we were still able to get a seat. We sat down and weren't sure if we were going to do the buffet or or order from the menu. We sat for about 5 minutes before anyone came to our table. The waiter came to give us water and we asked for some menus. We ended up deciding to go with the buffet, so we could try multiple items. We were not disappointed by the buffet. They had a great selection of items. They had your standard rice, butter chicken, and some different currys. I did the butter chicken, goat curry, a fried vegetable appetizer (I don't remember the name of it), and naan. It was all delicious. The buffet was a little overpriced in my opinion, but we will definitely be back. The only suggestion I have is for the waiters to remember that not everyone has been there before, so it may be good to stop by the table right away and ask if your customers are doing buffet or would like a menu. We didn't know what we wanted to do at first and once we had decided on the buffet, we didn't know we should just go help ourselves. read more

You know this place is really good when you walk into the dining room at lunch and its 3/4 full......ten minutes before the buffet is even setup. By the time they ring the lunch bell there is a line for tables and everyone scurries to lineup to make their plates. I'm no Indian food connoisseur, but I know this: the food is delicious. Everything I had was better than the next thing.... and I tried to try as much as I could. Impossible to try it all in one visit. The owner is on hand and the staff are buzzing around providing good service. It will now be a regular lunch spot for me. I was psyched to stumble upon this place in a mall strip mall post outlet shopping with two small children. The buffet had a large selection of delicious vegetarian and meat options. My boyfriend and I have ordered takeout with Taj Palace a few times. We decided not to be hermit crabs and dine in at Taj Palace. There are a lot of chain restaurants in Chesterfield Valley, but Taj Palace definitely diversifies the food options just a little bit. When we first walked in, one thing I took noticed is how open and clean the restaurant is. I love the windows and the interior is pretty clean and spacious. The staff is very friendly and the service is great. We usually go for the dinner special which is just enough food and you can sample a little bit of different entree. Our favorite is the Lamb Saag on the Mixed Curry Dinner Special. Plus the dinner special comes with soup, basket of naan, basmati rice, and dessert. If you are ordering outside the dinner special, I recommend starting out with samosas. They are great starters. As for curry entrees, you can't go wrong with any dish. I love the chicken tikka masala or the butter chicken. Also the lamb vindaloo is another great dish. We will be coming back again since the experience much more enjoyable than takeout! read more
