It has been numerous years since we have dined here, but tonight's experience surpassed my recollection of the last time. Our server, Karie, was very knowledgeable, friendly and efficient. The food was so very good. I had the beef tips with gnocchi and pesto cream sauce and it was delicious. I am pretty certain that I will have to order that again. The filets were tender, juicy and flavorful and the au gratin potatoes were a great accompaniment. The pork steak was flavorful and the sauce was spicy. The summer sangria and house Sauv Blanc were refreshing, as expected. Bishop's Post has beautiful outdoor dining, complete with a waterfall. We chose indoors this time, due to the hot outdoor temp. Indoor dining feels upscale comfortable, but can get a bit loud when it is busy. All in all, this was an excellent dining experience. read more

The bishop post is the place to be for a patio night. They have invested a lot of money on the patio decorations to their landscaping. My family and I ordered their appetizer of calamari. The breading was spot on and had just the right amount of salt. I ordered their Prime Rip dip. I will say the sandwich was spectacular. The dip seemed to have a lot of seasoning in it. This made it a bit salty to eat with it. However, my wife ordered their steak and fries. The steak was cooked to perfection. The Fries were good but nothing to rave about. Overall, the food was good but nothing to rave about. Really what you are paying for is the patio and the relaxation that the restaurant provides. I haven't been here for a little while, but I do love sitting on the patio! In my opinion, it's the best patio in St. Louis. There are a few others that are really nice, and while they may serve food, they're also party places, which is great. I'll say this is the best patio for dining! We went there on a Friday night with friends and the weather was perfect for dining on the patio! I think we were there for about three hours. We had a reservation and were seated right away. There were a lot of people inside and outside when we got there. It wasn't as crowded when we left! I can't remember our servers name, but she was really good. We had a few cocktails, then ordered starters. Then another cocktail and then we ordered dinner. I was full from having lunch out that day and the starters, so I just had a salad and an appetizer for my meal. The bacon wrapped shrimp were delicious. I ordered the wedge salad and asked to have it chopped up for me. I forgot to order dressing on the side, and there was way too much on the salad. My husband got a fish special and said it was the best meal he's had at Bishop's Post! I don't remember what our friends ordered, but they enjoyed their meals. A friend has been goin' ON about this place and was finally in the neighborhood to try it. Glad we finally made it. I ordered the House Smoked Salmon Salad and THOROUGHLY enjoyed it. And it was a filling salad, not wimpy at all. We split a Flourless Chocolate Torte, which was absolutely WONDERFUL! All in all, the food was GREAT. Phenomenal! Came here with business partners for a group dinner. I had heard Bishops patio was very nice but it far exceeded my expectations. The pond with the waterfall, all the birds singing in the trees, strands of lights and potted flowers and it really brought a sense of calm and let you relax without feeling rushed. First, let's talk service. Our waitress worked very hard tonight. She was present and attentive and patient. Offered to change out utensils for clean ones which was a lovely touch. But all the staff helped each other with removing plates and making guests feel welcome. Second, the food. The starter salad hit all those notes with being fresh and crisp. I had the Caesar and they could've tossed lettuce in a bowl with scant dressing. If a starter looks and tastes this good, is a big indication the rest of the meal will, too. And the beef gnocchi delivered! The beef was medium rare and were tender and melted in your mouth. The gnocchi were silky pillows resting in a drinkable herbaceous creamy pesto. The right amount of blistered tomatoes to cut through all that fatty richness. Wonderful! Everyone else in my party had nothing but great things to say for each of their dishes and there was a resounding agreement of having another visit and dinner here in the fall. Just as we concluded, and dessert was offered, only two were going with a slice of key lime pie and somehow learning of the connection with the recipe and the owner, everyone at the table got a slice! My mom really enjoys coming here, and I love the patio. This visit it was a bit chilly so we sat inside. If the weather is cooperating, patio I the way to go! It's really beautiful and big, aesthetic is really pretty. We came for a late lunch so it wasn't super crowded. I got a Caesar salad and the prime rib dip. The food was good! It's pricy but I enjoyed. The Caesar had just the right amount of dressing needed and the prime rib was good, I prefer a bit more of a medium preparation. Stopped in for the first time this past week for a coworkers celebration and absolutely loved this place. Upscale ambiance and great service! We were sat in the front room- lovely view of the outdoor area and fountain. They have a great wine selection, so most of the table had wine for their drink choice. We split the spinach and artichoke dip and charcuterie board, and the spin dip was one of the best I've had. So good! For entrees I had the scallops. It was delicious. Decent portion size. For dessert we tried the chocolate tarte and crème brûlée. Both were fantastic! All in all, great date night, business or special occasion place. Highly recommend. read more

Visited for lunch on Saturday to celebrate Mother's Day and my brother in law's birthday. Glad we had reservations as there was an event on the patio for 200 people. Gorgeous outdoor space with water fall. We had the dining room all to ourselves. Our serverer was wonderful. Even offered to take a picture of our group. I've been here a few times before. My wife and I were joined by good friends for an early dinner on Saturday at Bishop's Post. It was our first time visiting. Jasmine was our server and she was absolutely amazing. So much so we tipped her 50%. We originally planned to sit outside but the weather was too hot and humid. This place has an amazing pavilion complete with a waterfall. We started with drinks (the best old fashioned I've had in a long time) and beignets (more like hush puppies) and fried calamari. Yummy! For entrees, 2 of us enjoyed the pork chop. Fries are nice! - chopped shrimp salad (3.5/5): Shrimp we're tasty (and probably straight from the freezer). Salad mix and dressing was a bit basic. Menu claims that dressing was a remoulade but it seemed more like a Cajun ranch or something. - Meatloaf (3/5): generous portion, tangy topping, meatloaf mix lacked flavor and seasoning. Since my first visit in 2018, BP has been a staple in my restaurant library. Having visited for Happy Hours, Dinners and Lunches both outside patio and inside dining the experience had been just as enjoyable as the first visit. The menu options have something for everyone and makes for a great location when entertaining work colleagues. Lunch was not great. Had a reservation, but still had to wait 10-15 minutes. A first. Then they forgot the "turkey" on my turkey club. The pasta salad side was one step up from Suddenly Salad. (Theirs made my mouth numb and tingly in the same way, too.) Their new menu stresses that all their pasta is now "homemade" which is great, but all that fresh goodness was smothered by too many competing spices. Seems like they try harder for dinner than lunch in terms of food quality and service. They need to hire more servers for lunch. Seems like they cut them in half compared to last year. There were 7 of us. The outside area was very nice, but one of the umbrellas wasn't working, so the sun came in on us. One person didn't care much for the spices in the fried chicken dish. I ordered the Vegan Ramen noodles and at first I thought it needed some more flavor. But, as I continued eating it, it grew on me and I ended up liking it. My wife also had that and liked it a lot. My daughter ordered the vegetarian dish and said it was 'ok'. Another person had a Caesar Salad and thought the dressing had a touch too much of the anchovy flavor, and I agreed. The ambience was wonderful, but the service was just fair. We had to wait for silverware and asked for lemons, which my wife ended up getting for the table. We have heard lots of good things about the place and so with the higher prices, I expected more. I felt the prices were a bit too high. The food all came out pretty fast. We don't feel that it is a place we would rush back to or even go back to. Maybe it was an off night for them. I would give a solid 3.5 stars, but as I can't do that, and due to a few things, they will get 3 stars. Sorry about that... read more

Had dinner at Bishops Post last night and the food was fantastic! We had the shrimp and crab beignets for our starter and for dinner I had the meatloaf with whipped potatoes and green beans. The green beans were cooked perfectly and well-seasoned. The whipped potatoes were delicious and the meatloaf was great. The restaurant was clean and well lit. Our server was great but the gentleman who bussed the tables would interrupt her while she was trying to take orders and reach in front of her and cut her off grabbing dirty dishes, which was a little odd. I had to try this restaurant due to a recommendation from a friend and her husband did the landscaping which btw is AMAZING! Had a wonderful dinner here. I was greeted with warm smiles from the hostess' and my waitress was wonderful. Very friendly, attentive and offered suggestions on her favorites and most popular dishes on the menu. We reserved the Post Room to celebrate an engagement through Jade, who was very pleasant to deal with. She was willing to accommodate my request for choice of salad, as well as additional guest count from original number. Our server was PmP? (per receipt) and she did a fabulous job keeping drinks filled, dishes cleared, and orders taken timely. I opted to do a pre-fix menu as was told that would be from catering kitchen as opposed to regular kitchen, and possibly more timely, given the restaurant capacity for the evening. The food was fine, but nothing spectacular; maybe next time would go off regular menu/kitchen and take chances that would be served timely. It's in an area that is under cover but open to the outside. We were greeted by our lovely server after being seated. She went through the specials and was very knowledgeable of the menu. They have a great wine list here with plenty of by the glass offerings. We started with an order of calamari and it was really good. I went with the fish special that came with a Caesar salad. Since our party was only 6 people we requested a smaller one and we got seated by the waterfall feature. I got the hamburger which was perfectly prepared to my order. The service was quite good. The manager spent time reorienting our table umbrella to provide shade. All in all this restaurant has the most attentive staff I have seen in quite some time. My recent experiences here have included a baby shower, dinner in the garden area and a recent one in a quiet space. All three were excellent experiences! The baby shower was set up with a buffet in a pleasant separate room. It was a a group of about 25 and the servers handled it with grace and efficiency. The garden area was so pleasant and service was spot on. Most recently, we were seated in a room which was also quiet enough to not have to shout like some restaurants, and the star of the show was the most delicious Chilean sea bass I have ever tasted. They have a simple menu of apps, salads, entrees, desserts and drinks. A seasonal drink menu always has new concoctions and there is a solid wine and liquor selection. Some app highlights include spinach artichoke. Dip with crostini's, calamari, and charcuterie board. Gumbo is a popular soup or enjoy a nice wedge salad. (Fun fact..my dad and I always split the salads and they serve it on two plates which I love!) I can't say no to scollops or their chicken dinner but the signature dish at Bishops is the meatloaf. Seriously it's well known around town. Dessert wise you have a traditional St. Louis gooey butter cake but if that's not for you they'll present you the Wheel Of Desserts. Friendly hosts, servers and wait staff make this place a popular go to. I cannot recommend enough going out on their beautiful patio.
