While the presenters were competent…read moreand the small cocktails tasty, there were a number of issues mainly with the venue itself. First the start time was given as 10 pm but upon arrival the previous show was just exiting and we had to stand in a very long line in a gentle mist for about 15 minutes before taking our seats. It was first come first seated, unfortunately little notice was given so we ended up with limited options for seating. The venue was the Dresden Castle in Cudahy Wisconsin. It was a church that had been converted into an event space. Not sure why they chose the name, it resembled little of a castle inside or out. While the space probably works well for wedding and party events, it was ill suited for this type of production. The sound system was horrible, making it almost impossible to understand the performers. We moved our seats once hoping for a better experience, but it didn't really help. Only once, when actor didn't use a microphone and the sound system were we able to understand what was being said. Unfortunately this made for a disappointing experience. The production company also could have improved things a bit. The staging was minimal and could easily have been more visually interesting with just a few additions. Really love Poe's work but wouldn't recommend this venue for seeing this production.

Sheridan's brunch and food is great. I've never gone wrong with the Oatmeal-Blueberry Pancakes or…read moreEggs Sheridan or the Pulled Pork Benedict. It's a nicely decorated place, with comfortable seating, and a fireplace in the back dining room. And while I like visiting, service has always seemed to be lacking, from taking that first order, to refilling the coffee, to getting the check, and I see others have pointed that out. They serve Valentine Coffee, which I love, but get bigger cups (and Splenda)! Tea cups don't do us coffee drinkers justice if the coffee service is slow. Yelper Cliches: Can we stop calling restaurants that have been on Yelp for a full decade with over 100 reviews a "hidden gem"? Sheridan's is in plain view on Lake Drive (four lane highway 32), and everyone in the area knows about Sheridan's. Sheridan's is not bad, could be better, A-Okay 3-stars.

On the second day, they apparently decided to change our keys without telling us. We were stuck outside in the rain with no way to get into the building, and no one to buzz us in. They said "we changed your keys and slipped your new keys under the door." Big help that is when we are stuck outside in the rain. What a ridiculous thing to do. The walls and floors are paper thin. There is no water to drink.

Picture a church basement and that will set your expectations to the right level. We were warmly greeted by every employee we encountered. We were solely there to try the fish fry which seems to get a lot of attention on social media. The fish was good as were the fries. I would definitely come back for it. The fish sandwich was served a massive roll which was a bit much. I would put Pat's on my Lenten fish fry rotation. I am sure it gets incredibly busy. They do have take out so that is an option.

Of the options I had bookmarked that I had never been to, Pat's Oak Manor was my choice that day. I went with the all you can eat beer battered cod and potato pancakes. The potato pancakes were stellar. While not crispy, they were mostly firm on the outside, so they stayed together pretty well, and the flavor on the inside was an array of potato, onion, and spices. I made a good choice and they make a good potato pancake. The beer battered cod was good, though the third piece on my initial plate was getting a little soggy on the bottom by the time I got to it due to the grease in the breading. The rest of the fish I got during my meal didn't have that problem. I was impressed with how quickly they were able to get additional plates of cod out, although I would have preferred the option of more than only two pieces at a time. Even though the banquet hall was getting full and I only saw three people waiting tables, the person waiting on me seemed to be pleasant and in good spirits. I didn't catch her name otherwise I would shout her out specifically.
