Disclaimer: My party was working all day and finally got to sit down and eat. The food was amazing regardless of the long wait time in between getting each dish. The ambiance was normal for a Japanese style restaurant in the states. One gripe that took off 4 stars is that our initial server, I'll call him messy perm head (MPH), was being inappropriate towards a female in my group. Me and her bf went to the restroom and he got back to the table first, so he shared what he saw as MPH moving his crotch closer to the female's shoulder and reach around her to put plates down onto the table. Her mother was waiting for him to go further to speak up when her bf came out and MPH. When bf walked up to him, MPH looked back, saw the bigger size difference and backed off. Afterwards he didn't serve us anymore even after being told the drinks while the bf and I were away. He even waved off the bf when bf tried calling him over to ask what happened with the drinks. What saved our experience were the servers who picked up his slack and one who helped us with a dropped wallet. I'll call the new server nice bowl cut (NBC). NBC was thoroughly attentive to all our needs and understanding when the kitchen made a mistake with our onion "allergy". Our leave was also very friendly and heartwarming. Will come back, but I highly discourage female-only groups from coming for your safety. Having a guy can be reassuring and a deterrent. Not a misogynist btw. It's just MPH really soured my initial impression. Final disclaimer, MPH's actions may also have been a misunderstanding and have led to awkwardness that made him refuse working with us any further. Also, I was more focused on getting to the restroom so I only heard from the others that MPH was our initial server. read more

I'm usually a sushi elitist, but Takara blew my expectations out of the water. For just $28, you get a massive, all-you-can-eat menu that even includes sashimi. Seriously, the value here is unreal. ​The whole vibe is super chill great music and modern, attractive decor make for a perfect dining experience. ​But the real MVP was our server, Carlos. He was amazing and gave spot-on recommendations. I reluctantly took his advice and tried the Texas Roll and I'm man enough to admit it's fantastic. That alone should tell you something. Came to Takara around 8:30 PM on a weekday and opted for a la carte. They were kind enough to offer me their very late menu, which was not only affordable but also had smaller portions, perfect for trying a bit of everything without overdoing it. We ordered so many rolls and sashimi, and I also got some udon. Everything was super fresh and absolutely delicious. The quality of the fish really stood out. Food - We ordered so many items I'm not able to highlight everything, but here's what really stood out for me: - Salmon Belly Sashimi - this was special as they don't always carry it. But this is a premium, luxurious cut with a very velvety texture compared to regular salmon sashimi. - Seaweed and Squid Salad - These are two separate appetizers, but we combined them into one. The squid was soft and tender, and the seaweed had the right slipperiness. Combined, it was like I ordered this from a fancy sushi place - Yellowtail Jalapeno - Like the salads above, the Yellowtail was fresh like I ordered it at a fancy place. Care though - my jalapenos were cut thick and had tons of heat that even the sauce couldn't cool me down. - Seared beef nigiri - A thin slice of beef is heated and served over nigiri rice. Since I'm a Texas, this was a very juicy bite of beef without being to thick. - Fried Oreo - Two Oreos are fried. I know I can get these at the State Fair, but dessert is included in your meal! The quality of the sushi is very good when you compare it to the price. Now, it's not the best in the world, but it's much better than I thought. 1 Star. Will I Return? - Yes! This location lost its sushi restaurant a few years ago, so I'm very happy Takara moved it. This place is absolutely amazing and well worth the price. I only visit during the dinner menu as the sashimi is a must. All of the food so far has been of excellent quality, especially given that it is a rather fast-paced and quantity-based restaurant. The atmosphere is perfect: the music is almost jazz tempo versions of popular songs, the dining room is large and spacious, and the decor makes for a charming yet fun environment. We decided to look around to see if anything was closer to home. Particularly in the Dallas area. Lord behold, we have found something of a gem! Since April we have came back literally every week whether it is for lunch or dinner. Service is great, wait staff is on point and knows what we like by second visit based on our orders. First visit was with family of 8 both kids and adults included. The kids loved it! My four year old ate alot usually she only eats fries and steam rice. She ate the fried rice, her favorite fried shrimp tempura, and BBQ pork bun. We've probably tried mostly everything on menu. The tuna and salmon sashimi is hands down. Fresh and no smell. My sister who doesn't eat raw now eats raw fish! That's how no smell it is. Must try if you like mussels. Their dynamite mussels is a hit for me and I order 6 orders (2 pieces an order) hubby likes it too. Warm out of the oven or freshly baked hot cheesy and creamy with a hint of sweetness. They have fried rolls too. The Tokyo and Bath House roll seems to be a hit with sister. I haven't identified a favorite just yet. Udon noodles is flavorful and filled with veggies. So many nice things to say about this place. Prices are fair lunch $22.99 but menu items some are aimed for dinner items so to order that AYCE you must opt in for dinner price of $33.99, Kids are priced fairly for both lunch $5.99 3-5 YO and dinner $10.99 6-10 YO AO 5/13. Tried this newly opened place on a Monday night. We got the appetizers first and they were all delish. They came in 2 pcs per order so it was perfect so you can try a lot of stuff. We had takoyaki , calamari, hamachi kama, tuna and steak tayaki, soft shell crab , butterfly kiss ( we had 2) . Then we moved on to their sashimi tuna, salmon , surf clam, tuna , white tuna, octopus, squid , mackerel and roe. We went for lunch today. It was not busy at all, had may be 3 tables with not more than four people at each. The ambiance is nice, it was calming and quiet. At $18.99 for AYCE lunch, it is great value for money. The menu is very clearly marked with what's included for lunch vs dinner. Our favorites were the udon, hibachi, poke bowl, ramen, french fries and salads. The food was on the sweeter side with low salt, so requested some sriracha. The only thing that could be improved on was service, it was not very friendly and was very slow. The server prioritized cleaning tables over serving customers. Sushi vs Fried Food The sushi was horrible. The fish was good & fresh but half of every sushi dish was rice. The rice was very dry, hard, was not sushi grade rice & lacked vinegar. They used a different species of rice that was not sushi rice. They did not cook it with enough water & they did not use enough vinegar. The menu said "must eat all rice" or you will be fined. They have multiple video cameras trained on you to ensure that you do not waste any rice! They should put up signs saying, "must eat all sand," because that rice tasted like dry sand. Also, there was way too much rice & not enough fish. Check out my photos of the nigiri & Ahi tower. Furthermore, the poke bowl with salad had no rice but it was a big salad with just 2 tiny pieces of eel. The salmon poke bowl had just a tablespoon of salmon odds & ends. It was literally 1 tablespoon of tiny salmon scraps. See my photos of the poke bowls. All the sushi dishes were sad & impoverished. On the bright side, all their cooked food was good. The fried squid & shrimp tempura was not too greasy, crispy & hot. The Teppan shrimp was not waterlogged & seasoned just right. My date thought that it was too salty, though. The Teppan steak was surprisingly good cuz it was sirloin, not the usual skirt steak served at other all you can eat lunches. However, the cooking skill was inconsistent. I ordered it the first time without mentioning how to cook it & it came out perfect: medium rare. However, I ordered it medium rare the second time, but it came out well done. On my third order, it came out as ordered: rare. The chicken Takoyaki came out perfectly seasoned & was not dry. Service The waitress was friendly & prompt. When there were only 4 customers right after they opened, the kitchen was fast. However, after the arrival of a large table of 8, the kitchen slowed down & it took longer to receive my food. Ambience Everything was shiny & new. There was a high ceiling, so it felt very spacious & relaxing. They played soft rock in English instead of some foreign music that I didn't understand. This place is now one of my favorites sushi ayce places. It's $35 for dinner which is a good price for what you get. It includes the cooked foods such as ramen, soft shell crab, and more. They also have sweet shrimp! I feel like not many ayce sushi places have those. The fish were fresh and rice proportion was normal. One of the young ladies that attended the restaurant with me was allergic to shellfish and before we called the restaurant and asked if it was still OK for her to come due to her allergy and they said that it was OK that she comes. We kept telling the waiter that she's allergic to shellfish because he kept putting the shellfish, right in front of her after we asked them multiple times to please just put the food with shellfish at the end of the table and we bring it down to our side. But he didn't stop instead ignored it. He didn't care about anything that we asked about. He didn't care about if we were satisfied . He barely even asked how we were doing. I ordered a drink and a drink with extremely strong so I ask for something else, but that didn't work. I just took the drink back altogether with barely any indication that the drink had been drunk, as he brought the check, he speaks to me that I still have to pay for the drink because I ordered it. But I didn't even remotely touch the drink. I ended up telling him with the bartender and then he decided to take it off. He even went as far as getting mad and showing off his anger when he seen that one of us didn't tip. Overall, I would've gave this experience a five if there were better customer service read more

Who needs Omakase when you can have the Takara AYCE premium menu! We were delighted to have discovered this Takara location on a trip out to The Ranch for drinks. Unlike other smaller locations, this one is fully staffed large location with many sushi chefs working nonstop fulfilling orders. Staff are super friendly as in all other smaller Takara locations. And robot food delivery carts are working overdrive to help the servers to deliver orders. Vibe is fusion Izakaya, a cross between a Kura Sushi and a Yard House. Decoration of Japanese artifacts mixed with Anime/Magna touches and BGM is soft retro American. Seating are well spaced out and seoarated giving that intimacy feeling often lacking in AYCE joints. Because of its high constant volume, the basic sushi and food quality is actually significantly higher than slower and smaller AYCE. Basically they can offer better fish (cut) knowing that it won't be sitting around for too long or going to waste. The wine and drinks list is extremely reasonably priced making a family night out or date night affordable. Californian Meiomi Chardonnay (my favorite white at less than house wine price) . Of note is the availability of their Premium Menu which we tried on our second visit and is priced at double their weekday lunch menu pricing but WELL WORTH the premium. You get to order unlimited PREMIUM sashimi of fish (such as Otoro and Scallops) usually only found at higher end sushi places or Omakase. And they are all prepared adequately and plated beautifully like most mid-range a la cart sushi restaurants. So glad that this place recently opened up! The servers are incredibly kind, and very accommodating with families. We had children running around, and they were extremely helpful. The all you can eat is a great deal, and still good quality. It includes sushi items along with poke noodles, rice and appetizers, so you can't really go wrong. The tuna killer roll was really good, as well as the sashimi items, which were fresh. Also tried some of their Tataki and fried appetizers. The best part is, they have robots come to the table to deliver the food, it's a fun extra detail. I wish I had more photos of the food, but we were eating it pretty quickly! The rice was not freshly cooked extremely chewy and dry. The eggs were partly burnt. The five dollar salad was a few pieces of iceberg lettuce with a runny water sauce and two little cucumbers.
