Came here for dinner tonight and had amazing service and amazing sushi! Shayne was our server and helped us pick some delish rolls - the Red Top roll was one of the best sushi rolls I've ever had! We also got the Joe roll, spicy crawfish, and the pacific roll. All were super great but the pacific roll had a little too much Smokey flavor for me. We have enjoyed Takashi Bistro since it first opened. We usually order the teriyaki chicken or shrimp. We have only used the take out or delivery for the last year. All was well until our latest order. It was delivered this time, with no issue. Food was hot. However, though the rice and veggies were good, the teriyaki chicken was extremely dry. Hard to cut and even harder to chew. Don't know what happened. Hoping their chef will get the word. Not gonna trust it next time, or maybe we'll just reconsider all together. read more

We called in an order for takeout last Friday and was given an ETA of 30 min. We ordered the padthai, rainbow roll, shrimp tempura roll, salmon and avocado roll, and one other. At the 30 min mark we arrive at the restaurant to pick up the order but we're told it's not ready yet - no biggie. We pay and wait in the lobby area thinking it'll just be a few minutes. Time passes..and passes..and passes and it's not until 30 min later that I'm told our food was given away to another customer and that they are remaking the food for me. It takes them another 10-15 to make the food and after a whopping 1hr 15 min...we finally have a dinner to bring home. We really glad that we found this restaurant for our lunch break during our road trip. We were craving for asian food and initially gambled for this place. I turned out this place is a jewel. We waited 1 minute to be seated but it was normal as it was a lunch break. So the resto was pretty occupied. This place is also baby friendly but better not to bring your stroller. I ended up in Takashi one evening trying to avoid 5 o'clock traffic and I'm so glad I did! I've been back once a week since then. I normally have the vegetable hibachi or drunken noodles. Let me tell you, I've never had hibachi with so much flavor! No soy sauce. No yum yum sauce. And the best part is that everything is made fresh and in house. This is one of the best Asian cuisines in midtown Memphis area, I tried shrimp and chicken and noodles. All tasted good must go place.

This is a really easy place to grab dinner or lunch. It's one of the first restaurants I tried when I came to Memphis because it was close to my Airbnb. It's in a great location, right on Union avenue head and intersection with a light. There's plenty of easy parking around the restaurant. Online ordering can be done right through the website, which I love. The orders go through quickly and reliably. They have a big menu with a nice variety. I've done take out a bunch of times. Each time the food was waiting for me. You pay at the restaurant which I like. I've mostly gotten the shrimp tempura combo and a couple different sushi rolls. The tempura meal seems a bit pricey but there's plenty of food. Tempura shrimp and vegetables and fried rice and soup and salad. I tried another couple of places for tempura but Takashi had the best by far. It's light and crunchy and stays hot for a while! Important for take out. The sushi was good, too. Everything seemed fresh. The rice stayed together in the roll. One time they did mess up my order but they were very nice on the phone. Refunded me no problem. I could have gone back but I was lazy. Their integrity makes me want to return. I also ate in person once. Finally got to have the lunch time bento box. It comes with dumplings and California rolls. Who eats Japanese food in Memphis? I do! My husband and I were visiting a grandson at St. Jude's Children's Hospital and we're in search of a nice, quiet restaurant away from the busy city center, and boy did we find a gem! Nice atmosphere, great service, and the best Thai entree I've ever eaten - and I've eaten a LOT of Thai food. While the menu is primarily sushi and other Japanese plates, I couldn't get past the one page of Thai dishes, so I ordered the Pad Ka Pow. The flavor was absolutely amazing and the veges were sliced thinner than usual so you got a nice mixture in every mouthful. We also ate a delightful sushi roll, although I couldn't tell you which one. I simply asked the server for something spicy and crunchy and she delivered! My husband did enjoy a Japanese entree and liked it as well. My grandson will be in Memphis for another 6 months, so we will be back and we will definitely make another visit (or two!). read more

We weren't offered water or anything as if they didn't want to serve African Americans.
