This restaurant is located in a shopping plaza with other businesses. Shared parking is located out front. There were several booths located inside of the restaurant. Some of their booths are open on both sides where someone can exit without forcing someone to get up to let you out. We were seated right away. Our server was attentive and answered all of our questions. I got the lunch special general tso's chicken bento Box. My meal came with soup, vegetable Rolls, and sushi. The miso soup was hot and flavorful. I also enjoyed the crab sushi. It was flavorful and had some spice. My chicken was a little dry. If I came back again I would probably try some more of their sushi rolls from their large sushi menu. read more

I saw a Facebook event celebrating their one year anniversary so I decided to stop in for dinner. The restaurant is in a strip mall so parking was easy. We were sat and immediately told everything would be 15% off today, and if we spent $50 we would get to draw from a price bucket and $100 would allow us to spin a wheel. The restaurant was clean and despite being packed it wasn't loud. I really appreciate the individual lights at each table, these almost 30 year old eyes need to be able to read the menu. Speaking of menu, this menu is extensive. It took us a while to choose but we settled on chicken hibachi, pork belly Ramen, OMG roll and another sushi roll my partner ordered. As we waited for our food, we noticed how cheerful everyone working at this restaurant was. Laughter and smiles filled the air and I couldn't help but join in. I told my partner I've never had such friendly servers. They worked together re filling our waters and bringing out our food. The sushi was delicious, I'm new to sushi so I don't have much to compare it too, but, my partner said it was the best he had ever had. The ramen broth was packed with flavor but, I wasn't fan of the pork belly (too tough for me). The chicken hibachi was good, maybe not the best I've ever had but 4/5 stars. At the end of our meal, we were able to draw from a price bucket, I won a free appetizer for next time. She gave me a pen to take home and said if you sign up for emails you get 20% off your next meal (sounds pretty good to me) I really enjoyed this dinner experience, the staff were so positive and friendly and the food was pretty tasty. This place is a hidden gem. I didn't know about this place until my friend told me. It's been open for about 7 months now. It's in a strip mall area on the end behind Moby Dick. Plenty of parking and space inside. We went on a Tuesday night so it wasn't crowded at all. The food was amazing. A little cheaper than other spots around time. We got a little bit of everything. Combination fried rice was so flavorful. All the meat was cooked perfectly even the steak. The Takashi deep fried role was good. I could've done without the mayo on it but it was good. My niece liked her I don't know roll as well. She also got the beef stir fry. It tasted really good. It kind of had a sweetness to it. My son liked his shrimp teriyaki too. He's picky about his food and he enjoyed it. We even tried 3 different boba teas. They liked all 3 flavors. Can't miss here. We will be back. Can't wait to try more food. read more

This place is very good and tasty! I got the Bibimbop with chicken and it was amazing! The salad and soup were really good, although the soup was a little salty. The place is decorated really well and feels comfy. The floor is slightly sticky, which wasn't a big deal but annoying to walk around. This is one of those hidden gems I have driven by so many times. It's behind Moby Dick's in Fern Creek. Take the time to find them . Lunch time gives a wonderful price and some of the best sushi I've ever had. But your not limited to sushi. My dish was tonkatsu Red snapper served with miso soup, grilled veggies and fried rice for 14 dollar's ! My grandson indulged two rolls of sushi one Red Bull the other high roller full size very detailed in ingredients I'm looking forward to returning soon. Subject: Extremely Disappointed - Walked Out After 20 Minutes of Being Ignored ​I'm writing this review to express my extreme disappointment with the service at TAKASHI LOUISVILLE on 18 November 2025. My experience was so poor that I had to walk out before even being served. ​After arriving, I was seated promptly, but that's where any semblance of service ended. I sat at my table for a full 20 minutes, and not a single staff member approached me. No one came to take a drink order, offer water, or even acknowledge my presence to say they'd be with me shortly. ​It felt as if I was completely invisible. After 20 minutes of being ignored, I became too frustrated to wait any longer and left the establishment. I understand places can be busy, but a complete lack of acknowledgment for that long is unacceptable. I can't comment on the food or drinks because I was never given the opportunity to order any. This was a very frustrating and disappointing experience. I do plan to make another visit to the restaurant in the near future to see if any changes have been made as to how they treat new customers or if this is normal behavior. At which time I will be writing a follow-up review on my personal experience with this establishment. read more

Oh, my gosh. So yum! This place opened not too long ago and my parents have been raving about it so the 4 of us stopped in for a late lunch on Sunday. We were sat immediately but our service was pretty slow to start, however, that was remedied quickly. We ordered the spicy edamame, several rolls, the chicken hibachi dinner and of course, the ginger salad is always a must. Everything came out in a timely manner and the food was absolutely delicious! The edamame was perfectly spicy and cooked well. The roll that I had, the Nemo Roll, with red tuna, salmon, avocado, and a wasabi honey sauce was amazing. I'm not a huge cucumber fan and it can be hard to find uncooked rolls without it so this was a huge win! This place is way bigger than I expected and it's decorated really nicely. This would be a good place for a larger group, too. We will 100% be back! read more

Perhaps we came on a bad day because the service and food were incredibly disappointing. We waited 1 hour to receive the food after ordering. There was no apology or compensation from the server or the manager for the very long wait for food. Upon receiving the hibachi, the chicken was hard and overcooked, veggies were soggy and overcooked, steak was supposed to be medium but came out well done. In hindsight I think we should have asked to speak to management since the food was poor quality in addition to a very long wait. But we were hungry and did not want to wait another hour for food so we simply paid the bill and left. I would not return here again after today's terrible experience. read more

Great new place! We ate there for lunch today and it was delicious. I had the shrimp tempura ramen and the broth especially had a good depth of flavor. I especially enjoyed the fish cakes in it. We also had the garlic steak hibachi. The portion was huge and again flavor was great. We order the beef yakisoba noodles which were yummy. We ordered 2 deep fried sushi rolls and the rolls were gigantic. I loved the combination of flavors. The staff in the restaurant was very attentive and friendly. The restaurant itself is huge, nicely decorated and clean. This was a great new find and we'll be back. read more

When I tell you everything was beyond flavorful and cooked to perfection...I was in heaven. They give you a lot of food so I had left overs. I was going to save it for lunch the next day, but ended up eating it later that night for dinner. Lol. It took a little bit to get our food once we ordered. I seen where people complained about that. It didn't bother us because everything was made fresh to order. It was worth the wait (which wasn't too crazy). Their menu is extensive. I rarely post negative reviews but after a horrible experience at Takashi, I just needed to. My husband and I placed a to go order and we waited almost an hour for our food. The server kept telling my husband that our order is almost ready, but we found out that the kitchen staff forgot to make one of our orders; hence, the delay. I understand that new restaurants need a lot of time to adjust, and this would normally not have upset us. However, one of the servers (who I was told was the wife of the owner) not only accused us that we just got there to pick up our online order and that we didn't really wait that long. Below is a photo of our receipt where my husband placed a to go order in person at 8:00 pm. We finally got our orders at 8:50 pm. We would have left and gone someplace else, but my husband has already paid and even gave them a tip. In exchange for their mistake and for our time and frustation, they just gave us a small bowl of fried rice which we did not ask for and did not want. Additionally, the said server continuously tried to put her arms around me without my permission, and tried to appease me by promising that our food will come out soon. I did not know this server personally, and her actions made me feel very uncomfortable. She invaded my personal space and was downright unprofessional. Food is overpriced for the quality and quantity. They also charged us extra for sauce. We have had much better poke bowls and bibimbaps at other places. Takashi is owned and run by Filipinos, and as a fellow Filipino myself, I really wanted to support this restaurant. However, we are deeply appalled by our experience and we will never return. If you are looking for an authentic Japanese restaurant with exceptional service, I would recommend looking elsewhere. Takashi is simply not it. read more

The only issues we had with our visit was it was so smokey in the dining area that our eyes were burning and we had to cut our "catching up time" short because it was so uncomfortable. Stopped by and wanted to try a new restaurant with family and friends. Went around 8-8:30, wasn't very busy. Staff was very friendly and helpful with giving recommendations on what to try. The food was AMAZING, came out in a timely manner. I tried the Chicken Yakisoba for the first time and it was sweet and savory. I love gyoza so I had to try theirs, they grill the gyoza instead of it being steamed/pan fried. The bottom was crispy but it was soft and savory. I also tried their fruit tea for the first time. It came out in a beautiful glass and was very sweet. The only thing I would change is trying theirs fruit tea with jelly boba instead of the classic tapioca pearls. My friend ordered the fried calamari, it came with a spicy tangy orange saucy, the calamari breading was nice and crispy and the calamari wasn't rubbery like it is at other restaurants. Definitely would love to come back and try more items and recommend this to people looking for something new in the area! read more

Love the food but there is confusion depending on who is working if they interpret on the extra sauce that's ordered. One server will say I place too many sauces and then I correct it for the next order and a different server (young girl) says I didn't order enough sauces. When I looked at my receipt tonight, I ordered exactly what I was supposed to order and the server shorted me two sauces. I paid $2.40 for 4 sauces (.60 each) and each time she tries to give me only 2 sauces. It sounds silly but it gets aggravating when I'm ordering takeout at least once a week and depending on who puts my order together depends on if they get the right. It's to the point that I might just have to stop getting takeout. Easy math don't get why there's always confusion. I've already had to turn around once before because the same girl gave me a wrong order and I had to come back and return it because the person came to get the order they gave me. This place is PHENOMENAL. Some of the best Japanese food I've had. Everything we got seemed homemade and fresh. We got crab Rangoon, a sushi roll, the generals chicken bento box, and fried rice. We were extremely impressed with the quality of it all. The seaweed in the sushi roll was probably the softest seaweed I've had in a roll which makes for much more pleasant mouth feel, the general's chicken was on another level, super clean pieces of real chicken with a light, hand-battered coating and a spot-on general's sauce. Fried rice was delicious and they bring you a whole bottle of yum-yum type sauce to keep at your table if you ask for it. Top notch place right here, hopefully they last!
