SASHIMI COOKED TAKO (OCTOPUS)
Caroline H.

This place is a hidden gem. I didn't know about this place until my friend told me. It's been open for about 7 months now. It's in a strip mall area on the end behind Moby Dick. Plenty of parking and space inside. We went on a Tuesday night so it wasn't crowded at all. The food was amazing. A little cheaper than other spots around time. We got a little bit of everything. Combination fried rice was so flavorful. All the meat was cooked perfectly even the steak. The Takashi deep fried role was good. I could've done without the mayo on it but it was good. My niece liked her I don't know roll as well. She also got the beef stir fry. It tasted really good. It kind of had a sweetness to it. My son liked his shrimp teriyaki too. He's picky about his food and he enjoyed it. We even tried 3 different boba teas. They liked all 3 flavors. Can't miss here. We will be back. Can't wait to try more food.

This place is very good and tasty! I got the Bibimbop with chicken and it was amazing! The salad and soup were really good, although the soup was a little salty. The place is decorated really well and feels comfy. The floor is slightly sticky, which wasn't a big deal but annoying to walk around. Service was great and constant and even very accommodating to our little one. Looking forward to going back and trying the ramen!

This is one of those hidden gems I have driven by so many times. It's behind Moby Dick's in Fern Creek. Take the time to find them . Lunch time gives a wonderful price and some of the best sushi I've ever had. But your not limited to sushi. My dish was tonkatsu Red snapper served with miso soup, grilled veggies and fried rice for 14 dollar's ! My grandson indulged two rolls of sushi one Red Bull the other high roller full size very detailed in ingredients I'm looking forward to returning soon. The menu is very exstive the service was great.

Fun place we discovered with friends who live in the area. Food was awesome! Shared Yakisoba, Crab Roll, Bowl, Salad and Beef Fried Rice simply amazing! Amy was the best. Perfect timing on checking with us and letting us savor our meal. Fun time with friends. Great customer service. Good atmosphere. Clean restaurant. Would definitely recommend highly! We would be regulars if we lived in the area!

Great new place! We ate there for lunch today and it was delicious. I had the shrimp tempura ramen and the broth especially had a good depth of flavor. I especially enjoyed the fish cakes in it. We also had the garlic steak hibachi. The portion was huge and again flavor was great. We order the beef yakisoba noodles which were yummy. We ordered 2 deep fried sushi rolls and the rolls were gigantic. I loved the combination of flavors. The staff in the restaurant was very attentive and friendly. The restaurant itself is huge, nicely decorated and clean. This was a great new find and we'll be back.

Great portions.

Great atmosphere and service. The food was awesome too. They have sushi rolls on there which aren't at other places.

Starting with the waiter, she was very sweet and kind. Asking us about her recommendation and the environment of the restaurant is very pleasing. Food was absolutely amazing just like I expected to be. This place is a 10/10 will come often.

JALAPENO ATTACK

Love this place!! Ambiance was nice, service was GREAT and food was AMAZING!!! I got the jalapeño attack sushi appetizer and fried scallop poke bowl. When I tell you everything was beyond flavorful and cooked to perfection...I was in heaven. They give you a lot of food so I had left overs. I was going to save it for lunch the next day, but ended up eating it later that night for dinner. Lol. It took a little bit to get our food once we ordered. I seen where people complained about that. It didn't bother us because everything was made fresh to order. It was worth the wait (which wasn't too crazy). Their menu is extensive. I was very indecisive about what to order. I rolled the dice and just picked what sounded the best to me and it was a good choice!! Our bill was less than $30-WINNING I'll def be back and would HIGHLY recommend.

Tried this place out after a friend recommended it and I have to say it was a really enjoyable experience. First off their menu is extensive, I mean they have a little bit of everything. Sushi, ramen, katsu, bibimbop, habachi meals, and more. The seating area is large and there is also bar seating available. Service was great, we will definitely be back.

I had a half ruben sandwich and a bowl of white chili. Both were excellent. A huge half sandwich and a large hearty bowl of white chili. The chili was flavorful but not spicy. It had lots of shredded chicken, beans and corn (which could have been left out in my opinion). My friend had the chicken salad sandwich and the white chili and said her sandwich was good, also a very large. Nice atmosphere, friendly staff, parking on the side and in the back of the building. I had not been for years but it was a good choice for a late lunch.

The restaurant includes a long row of bar seating that extends to the other end of the restaurant, so there was no problem for me to find a seat on a busy day. I ordered the Mac n cheese and braised greens, and the Mac n cheese was really good and creamy. The braised greens were just okay, it wasn't the best greens I've had and it could use extra flavor. I don't know if this is a thing they do at Doc Crow's, but in my opinion the bartender excessively kept asking me what I wanted even while I was still looking at the menu. This definitely frustrated me since it was clear that I wasn't ready yet. I think she should have done a better job reading my cues to figure out when I am ready to order.

My top-tier chum who literally went to the school of hospitality and I spent most of the afternoon on a bourbon tour and a post-tour distillery so...food was needed. And quickly. In our mild defense, we didn't really know how the day was going to go or when we were actually going to have dinner, which made it a little tougher to pre-plan, but no research went into this at all and we paid for it. We wrapped up our bourbon adventures at the Angel's Envy distillery probably five or six blocks from here. Instead of being grownups and doing at least a quick/impromptu recon for spots, we literally just walked outside and down W Main St until we hit something. And we hit this, which was right on the edge of the main tourist area, pretty much Louisville's equivalent of the Times Square/MSG area. And as someone who works and used to live in NYC, you'd have to do a lot of convincing to get me to eat in that particular area - it's overpriced and the food/service just tends to not be very good, which makes you wonder what the appeal is for tourists beyond the convenience. But regardless, it's always struck me as an odd way for a tourism spot to put its best foot forward (or not). Doc Crow's is enormous, and when we were brought further into the restaurant to our table, I think we literally walked through three or four large rooms and navigated through multiple passageways. If you told me this place took up an entire city block or close to it, I'd believe you. Beyond the size/scope, there's nothing really distinctive that separates it from the myriad of other restaurants you'd expect to see catering to out-of-towners. It was the Friday evening of Memorial Day Weekend, so a place that I suspect is usually pretty busy was even busier and louder than that. Maybe not the greatest recipe after a bourbon tour, but who can say. On the app front, we got the Crispy Salmon Bites, which were fine. Not an item I typically see on a menu, even one with more of a seafood bent. I thought the cornmeal/panko breading was the right call; I'm a big catfish aficionado, so I'm of the opinion that cornmeal is underutilized, at least in the Northeast where I come from. Otherwise, nothing really mind-blowing there; probably would have made sense for it to be a different type of fish given the prep (I think salmon is best raw in a sushi roll or grilled), but it could have been worse. I don't think a ton of thought went into this on my end, but I went with the full rack BBQ ribs, along with a side of mac n' cheese. Again, okay, though not as flavorful as I would have hoped and I thought the ribs were on the dry side. Not their fault, but I always regret getting the full rack in hindsight because ribs have a deceptively significant amount of meat on the bones and a half rack is a very decent portion by itself; I am a work in progress just like everyone else. The mac n' cheese was also pretty dry, which I think you can see pretty obviously in the accompanying picture. Tasted and felt reheated at least once or twice. The service was pretty efficient given how busy it was, but our waiter was just on robotic autopilot. Not remotely personable and everything I said to him was responded to with, "For sure, for sure." Maybe he was having a rough night to start the holiday weekend, but it felt like he was just going through the motions and just checking off some boxes there. I went into this already predisposed to not like the generic tourist trap places, so grain of salt. But my recommendation if you have the time/bandwidth (now that I'm a cagey Louisville vet) is to bypass this area if you can and find something tastier and more interesting in the Highlands neighborhood. That's where the real ones are.

I think my cocktail was called the Tokyo Pop? Not positive but you have to get it. Gin, bubbles, sake, and a hint of lemon in a flute glass. Refreshing, a hint of sweet, a hint of lemon, and extremely drinkable. It would be too easy to throw a ton of these back. But I was demure and had one. I enjoyed the calamari--my go-to here. Crispy, with a bit of heat from pickled peppers, a bit a of sweet form a sweet glaze, and a nice herby zing from mint, herbs, and scallions. They also top the calamari with a a nice portion of greens dressed in a lemon vinaigrette, making this appetizer feel close to a light meal.
