Wow! Corporate contacted me, regarding claim. My receipts shows inconsistent quality of oil used. I was charged for synthetic, when take 5 was putting blend, after, full synthetic. I sent receipts to a man named Don, with corporate. He offered me a free oil change since I've been a customer for years. NO thanks. I said Don? How would I know, if they are putting in the right oil & charging me the right price. I go to Walmart now. I'll never go back to take 5. I took my car here for an oil change after calling ahead to confirm they could service my vehicle. I was told it would not be a problem. After they informed me that the oil change was complete, my car would not stay running and repeatedly stalled. Employees instructed me to restart the vehicle and pull forward, but it continued to die each time. They then brought out a battery charger, which is when I had to step out of the car and point out that I never saw anyone add new oil to the vehicle. Only after I raised this concern did they apologize and admit they did not put oil in the car. Another employee then had to leave the store to purchase oil for my car. If the required oil was not available, I do not understand why I was told they could perform the service in the first place. What is most concerning is that they repeatedly attempted to have me start and drive the vehicle before any oil had been added. Once they finally added oil, my car's system indicated that the engine oil was overfilled. I am extremely disappointed that I paid for this service when such a serious mistake was made. The only response I received was a simple "sorry." To make matters worse, an employee told me, "I'm glad this is an Audi because it shuts off when there is no oil. Any other car would have blown the whole engine." That statement was not reassuring--it only reinforced how serious the situation was. Throughout the ordeal, I was repeatedly told that the vehicle would "reset itself" once I started driving. In reality, the problem was that there was no oil in the engine, which is why the car would not stay running in the first place. This experience demonstrated a concerning lack of attention to detail and professionalism, and it left me with serious concerns about the quality of service provided. Now I can only hope that my car is okay and now I have to pay even more money to get this fixed somewhere else. read more

They typically will offer you a bottle of water while you wait. This location can get busy. There isn't a lot of space for cars so the line can back up. On my most recent visit, I came for a state inspection. Whoever was working on my car the day that I went did not tighten up the top gasket correctly was missing a screw and all my oil leak leaked out. I took my 2018 Chevrolet Malibu to Take 5 location 12521 Kuykendahl Road, Houston Texas 77090. Store#0566 on October 10, 2025. I initially came in only for an oil change, but your staff insisted that I needed a coolant flush, claiming that my system contained more water than coolant. I found this unusual, as I have never added water to my radiator or reservoir, and I had already had a coolant flush performed about a year prior. A big red flag was one of the technicians didn't even know where the cabin filter went. Another tech had to direct him, and the same one was the one doing my coolant. If he didn't know something as simple as a cabin filter how can he know how to work the machine for the coolant? I eventually agreed to the service after the manager's insistence. However, within 15 minutes of leaving, I noticed a puddle of orange coolant under my car. I immediately returned to the shop, where I was told that the reservoir had been overfilled and that the leakage was due to excess coolant being released. I was advised to monitor the situation and return if it continued, as it might indicate a radiator leak. My radiator had no leaks or issues whatsoever prior to this service. The manager's explanation that I didn't notice a leak before because there was "no coolant in the radiator" makes no mechanical sense because my vehicle would have overheated if that were true. (My dad was a mechanic) By the following morning (October 11), the leak persisted, and my reservoir was completely empty, requiring me to add more coolant. When I returned to the shop again, the manager continued to deny responsibility but offered to refill my coolant jug. To my surprise, he mixed green coolant into the jug, even though the system was filled with orange coolant (Dex-Cool) the previous day. Mixing coolant types is well-known to cause chemical reactions that can lead to sludge, corrosion, and radiator damage. Afterward, when I brought my car to Firestone for inspection, I was informed that my radiator now needs replacement, with a repair estimate of $1,800. I paid $241 at Take 5 for what was supposed to be a simple oil change, and now face nearly $2,000 in repair costs directly resulting from this service. This entire situation was caused by: 1. Performing an unnecessary coolant flush, 2. Using improper procedures or excessive pressure during the flush, 3. Overfilling the coolant reservoir, and 4. Mixing incompatible coolant types afterward. read more

I've gone here previously for a speedy state inspection for both my vehicles in past years with no issues; we swung by this year and was told to wait at the front for a state inspection. 40 minutes pass and we just continue sitting in the car waiting around as they work on literally every other car there. There's about 5-7 employees and most of them are just shooting the crap and messing around and there's around 2 people actually working. Not one employee came up to ask us for our vehicle info or anything to get started and we're just sitting there waiting for something to happen. I don't know what happened here with this crew and while nobody looked excited to be working there, at least try to have any kind of customer service or courtesy to give us a timing or a"come back tomorrow" note. I wouldn't recommend this location and will not be back going forward. read more

I wish I would have checked the reviews prior to coming. I arrived and was the ONLY car there. I asked for an Emissions Inspection and the technician took his time coming over to start. Other cars arrived and their technicians immediately started working, while mine was too busy doing other things. I was eventually asked to pull out of the garage and to the side and that's when the employee plugged into my vehicle and started the inspection. Cars that arrived after Me left before me. The Employee that performed my inspection was very curt and intentionally slow. He treated me like I was an inconvenience to his work day. Got home to put in new air filter, and found this mess. Had to go and have a retailer clean it. With degreaser, so my $ 65 oil change became $ 120. The service person came to me about an antifreeze flush and showed me something clear like water stating my antifreeze was bad. knowing that some places take advantage of women I said I would check and get back to him. I just had the worst experience for a quick oil change & emissions test. I've been a regular customer at this location for years because it's close to home, & this time the "assistant manager" (as was labeled on his shirt) insisted to check my gas cap (for a motor oil change & emissions test ???) . He "YANKED" the cap off the factory designed tassel that was connected to the gas lid, and simply left it detached after he was done checking. Also he mentioned my coolant fluid was low and was trying to upsell me on a full flush for $200. I said no, & politely asked him TWICE to top off my coolant. He say it was done. After I drove away, I checked and the coolant was still low. I would pay the extra $20 if he wanted to charge me to top off. Just not the $200 for the full flush !!! He was also appearing very "Uninterested / Unmotivated" through the entire checkup. Even if I need a full flush, he would NOT be the one I would hire to do the job. read more

Went for a routine oil change on Friday, 11/21/2025 at 2 PM that was $108. Drove home to leave for a road trip the next day. Realized upon arrival to Tulsa from Houston, my car was leaking oil the entire drive. If you want your drain plug thread stripped, and you like an oil pan that's not flush at all causing you to lose all your oil and need a new oil pan along with new oik 2 days after paying $108 for a synthetic oil change, then this is the place to go. I have called and left the shop manager a message with details and to return my call ASAP. I will update and/or delete this review if/when the shop manager calls me back and refunds me for my oil change, a new oil pan and new synthetic oil. Funny how you guys say you help out military service members and it's also funny how my husband served in the military and we feel like we are not getting the service we deserve. On April 6th, we went to get an oil change and your technicians failed to put the proper amount of oil in our car which has resulted in needing a total engine replacement. This has been independently verified by a local, reputable mechanic. We've provided you with documentation of the mechanics report and photos of the incident and yet we have gotten nothing but silence from your supervisors. Not even a rental vehicle to help us out (since this was our only car for our family) while we figure how to solve this problem that your company has created. I arrived at 7:45 and saw a car in each of the two service lanes, making me the third in line. A guy wearing a durag approached my car and told me to slow down, though I wasn't sure why--there was no way to move fast in such a small carport. But I just went with it. I told him I needed an inspection and an oil change, to which he simply said "okay" and walked off. I then waited for 20 minutes. During that time, I noticed four employees--two of them standing around a car, moving at a snail's pace while chatting and looking under the hood. Meanwhile, another car arrived and was promptly serviced by the third employee, who seemed to be the only one actually working. At that point, the rude guy I had spoken to earlier walked past my car. I said, "Excuse me," but he ignored me. I said it again, and he kept walking. Finally, I honked to get his attention, as he had clearly heard me but chose to ignore me. He turned around and shot me a dirty look for honking. I asked how long the wait would be. His response: "I don't like giving a time because I don't want to be held to that--it could be 20 minutes, it could be 40 minutes. You'll just have to wait and see." At that point, I decided to leave. Except for one Hispanic employee who was actually working, the rest of them didn't seem in the mood to do their jobs. As I'm waiting and getting closer to 9, a blue truck arrives cussing out a storm as an why I'm park there. He gets super close to the car to the point that I felt it move and got out to see if any damaged was done. He said " I didn't do nothing, can you move your car". Keep in mind this location has a go @ area. He can easily go through the street area, as another car was also waiting for opening on other side. I was not on the way he was just being very rude. Stopped by this location for a state inspection. After being directed into an empty bay, we waited 30 minutes in the car while watching everyone around us getting their service with no greeting or explanation. We got so annoyed and just drove away. While I understand they don't make much on state inspections, this level of customer service is unacceptable. We absolutely will not come back again. read more

A 10 minute oil change was 1.75 hours. I sat in the bay with my hood up the entire time. They did try to pale me an engine filter for 3 times the amount that it can be purchased at an auto parts store. I chose not to purchase, then ask if they with give it to me as a courtesy for it taking them so long, but they refused. After finally getting the oil change done , I left but realized they did not reset my maintenance code. I called them , but was told they would call me back. They never called back. Now I'm going to have to make another trip there to get them to reset the code. Terrible experience! I recommend going elsewhere! read more
