On February 28th, 2026, I went to Take 5 on Toepperwein Road to get an oil change. As I was being serviced, the mechanic named Jay stated I needed a coolant exchange. I ask the price and agree to get the service done. The total amount for oil change and coolant exchange came out to $229.29 with military discount. After the service was completed, I headed to the HEB on kitty hawk road (about 8 minutes away). Before I could reach the parking lot, a red light was going off and stating the engine was overheating. A second yellow light also came on as well. I pull into the parking lot and turn off the engine. I open the hood and it was clear liquid where the coolant should be. I was naturally upset and freaking out. While waiting for the engine to cool down, I walk my son to the Great Clips to get a haircut. While there, I called the Take 5 office twice and left voice message because no one answered. Afterwards, I headed back to Take 5. My vehicle overheated again within a few minutes before I could reach Take 5, so I pull over into the Ben Miller parking lot to let it cool down again. I wait awhile and try to call again. I start the car and continue to Take 5. As I am pulling into the Take 5 parking lot, my car overheats for the third time. I tell the manager it has been overheating three times since I left. He directs me into the shop and begins to access the problem. I explain everything that happen and he redid the coolant exchange and test drove it. As my son and I were waiting while my car was being test drove, I heard the other mechanic, JJ, say, "I wonder what I did wrong." The manager apologized for the incident and told me to return in a week to check the levels. On March 11th, 2026, I left home to go to church. My car started overheating for the fourth time. I was on O'Conner road, so I pull into the Lowes parking lot since it was nearby. I turn my car off so it could cool down and open the hood. When I looked under the hood, the coolant was completely empty. I went inside the Lowes to purchase coolant and funnel ($20.12) to fill up until I could make it to Take 5. As I backed up out of the parking spot, I noticed a wet shiny spot. I headed back to Take 5 and spoke to the manager. I explained everything that happen and he directed my car into the shop for assessment. He apologized and stated he was going to put in for a refund for the coolant exchange and corporate would call for details. I was still concerned with my vehicle, so I headed down the street to Goodyear. I explained to the Goodyear employee everything that happen at Take 5 with coolant exchange, vehicle overheating four times and empty coolant. I had to leave my car overnight because the weren't able to assess the vehicle until the next morning. Thursday morning, Goodyear called and stated the thermostat housing was cracked and leaking coolant and it was due to the pressure from the machine when doing the coolant exchange incorrectly. The total to fix was $316.80. I called Take 5 service issue line and a claim was open. I also called the Take 5 shop and the manager sent up a claim as well. After Goodyear fixed the issue, I had to Uber ($8.95) to the shop to retrieve my vehicle. After following up on my claim, I received a phone call stating my claim was denied and it wasn't their fault. I went in for a simple oil change and left out with $500 plus dollars in damage to my car that Take 5 refused to take responsibility for due to a young and inexperienced mechanic screwing my vehicle up. read more

Quickest and most attentive oil change I've had to date. Drove over a little bell as I circled my way to the back of the building, I was greeted by one of the mechanics with a cold water bottle and after stating the purpose of my visit (standard oil change), I was told I'd be up in just a couple minutes. They had two lanes open, a car ahead of me in each and I after about three minutes I was pulling forward for my service. My entire visit was finished within about ten minutes, I didn't even have to get out of my car. I wound up with the oil change and a new filter being installed and the guys helping me out set me up with a profile for even faster service on future visits. What's normally such a chore that I'll put off for daaaays I was able to wedge in between a couple quick errands and it made me feel like I'd had the most productive day. I went on a Saturday evening. The service was very quick and efficient, and they were very informational and provided an excellent service.

The employees are always polite and quick. The manager, Omar is also very polite and attentive

I usually come here for an oil change but they need to check out the people that get transferred here and make sure they have proper training. Last time I came in for a oil change I was greeted by a young man that introduced himself unprofessionally and was just goofing around when he had nothing else to do, then the person that serviced my Lincoln was super messy and didn't install the new oil filter correctly and caused my oil to slowly leak which resulted in me having to change my oil myself and put in a new filter. He even left oil smudges on my hood and inside of my engine bay. I usually have no problems here but this is definitely not the ideal to go to for an oil change . If you do go here make sure the Lowered Lexus is out on the side so you know there's people that know what's going on, if not avoid this place at any cost and save your money read more

This was the worst take 5 location I have ever been to. The one in Schertz or even Universal City is so much better. I had to wait maybe 15 mins which I don't understand because there was only 1 other car here. The "manager" is who waited on me and I asked before starting the oil change if they would take my $20 off coupon to which he said yes after looking at it. Then he tried to upsell me 5 different products after I told him I was only interested in the oil change. I then told him I would just opt to not get my oil change and he said it was already done. The only reason I gave 2 stars is because he was nice and did offer me a 15% which was less than my coupon but it was something. Next time I'll just go to the location I prefer. read more

I went today to get my oil changed grained yes it was 4:50 PM but they close at 5 o'clock. They were still open. I was told that their systems are already shut down then maybe you need to change your hours and that you close at 4:50 not 5 PM it doesn't matter what time I got there your hours say you're open till 5 PM then service people till 5 PM when it's convenient for your employees you have now lost my permanent business and I've been going there for years read more

Took my truck in for inspection and failed because the turn signal was out. Ran to auto zone and changed it out and ran right back, apparently I changed the wrong one or did it wrong because it still wasn't working when I went back to have the inspection re-done. Leevi and Herb went out of their way using the tools at the shop to help me change it correctly right there so I could pass and not have to keep running around. Get your shit together Take 5! There are lots of people who drove VWs. Carry the right product. I have a VW Atlas Went on Saturday. Manager said they didn't have the right filter. Try the Pat Booker location. Otherwise they get shipments on Tuesday and will definitely have one after 11. Pat Booker didn't have it so planned to go bacl To Topperwein on Tuesday. On Tuesday, they first told me they don't service VWs at all. When I explained the manager said to come back they agreed to service me but didn't have the filter again. Maybe Wednesday or they said we could buy our own. That's what we did. Bought our filter. Went over today (Wednesday) and they now have the filter but not the oil. I'm now supposed to carry around a case of oil and the right oil filter for my car so the only place that does stay in your car oil changes can service my vehicle? Lame. read more

I have migrated toward Take 5 for my oil changes, and I'm extremely happy. For starters, the waiting times are always less, the staff is courteous and they offer water while you wait in your car. I went to this Take 5 Oil Change before getting on the road to Dallas to have my oil changed. I was told that my oil did not need changing. I asked if they were sure because the sticker in my window read that I was close to mileage for an oil change. I was told that I did not need an oil change again and that the sticker was referring to fluid level top offs. I explained that I would be driving to Dallas the next day (Saturday) for Easter and I wanted to make sure the car was good, they assured me again that I did not need an oil change. On my way back from Dallas probably about the last hour or so the car starts to drive slower (of course I think oil but everything is now closed) now the car is at 30mpr I looked down because the oil light flashed on and then off ( this happened 2-3 times), I finally make it home. The next morning I take the car back to Take 5 Oil Change on Toepperwein Road and tell them you said my car didn't need oil but I have flashing oil lights and my car is not running properly now. They tell me to drive the car into the bay, they take a look at it and then ask me to drive it around the block to see if the car is driving normal again; this happens 2-3 times before they refer me to the Take 5 Oil Change on Blanco b/c he did not know what the problem was or how to fix it. It is and was the oil you should have changed it as requested b/c you are in the business of oil change it's even in the name "Take 5 Oil Change"!!!! Thank you Take 5 Oil Change Team my car has been inoperable for about two weeks now, I'm out of $2,500.00 and my car still doesn't work..... there is more.... Take 5 Oil Change Team only gets better... not when I go to the location on Blanco Road (5). I take the the vehicle there and they immediately state the guys there are lazy, they always send their work here, don't worry we will take care of it. They really went out of their way to assure me that the vehicle would be taken care of properly this time. So, they say we need to take a look to see what's going on; I go to have a seat an hour or so later they come back with a diagnosis & it's the turbo. Keep in mind that all of this started with Take 5 Oil Change not changing the oil...they say the bad news is it could cost about $2,200.00 I sigh but agree because I need the car to be fixed. I will skip to me going to pick the vehicle up... they assure me that the vehicle is working/running/driving great now that the turbo has been replaced they also showed me the oil that was in my vehicle (super thick and dark); I paid for an oil change at the Take 5 Oil Change on Topperwin Road. As I'm driving the car home (about 40 min away, I notice the rattling in the back of the vehicle, the splutter noise that was happening before the turbo was replaced and it made me question if they even drove the vehicle to see how it would drive/run/work properly. The next morning I had an appointment after 15 minuetes of driving the check engine light came on along with the spluttering and rattling so, I call Take 5 Oil Change on Blanco Road; They tell me to bring the car in so they can have another look. They immediately start to reassure me that it's okay but I remind them of what they told me "we drove the vehicle it drives/run/works great no problems" (this is a big problem). Again they do another diagnostic on the vehicle ... diagnosis is the turbo (WT?), I thought you fixed it more reassuring leave the car with us so we can figure it out. This got me praying. I go back and now it's the boost which according to them is a secondary problem... of course they don't know how to fix it or won't so they send me to a 3rd Take 5 Oil Change that's located on Thousand Oak Drive..... there is more..... It's Wednesday my car is not fixed, I don't have transportation, I'm out of $2,500.00 and it's been about 2 weeks and I need a new car. $2,500.00 that's a paycheck for me, my Mom is here with me, she has appointments, I have appointments, I have work; this car is our only mode of transportation and Take 5 Oil Change at this point is inconsiderate of my time, money and lively hood. Based on the information given I may need a new motor which equates to a new car and I can not afford that. All because Take 5 Oil Change did not change the oil as requested (Toepperwein Road) and negligence (Blanco). All creditability has been lost with Take 5 Oil Change. read more

The attendant was very nice, professional, and patient when I forgot my insurance card and gave me time to get it emailed to me. They also charge only $7 for the service and don't try to up charge you as it's been my experience elsewhere. Will be back for an oil change when I need it. read more

Some people would like additional information before driving to the facility that the website doesn't provide, such as prices! I mean, I would like to know what I'm looking at paying before heading over. People compare prices all the time, especially during these hard times! But I guess speaking to a live person is no longer a thing. So sad. It's great that the service is awesome, and I probably would've experienced it for myself, had I been able to get my questions answered first. Phone calls are still an important part of customer service, but I think businesses like this one forget that. They think substituting with recordings is good enough. Had I talked to a person by phone and been happy with the service I received by phone, I probably would've paid $100 for this oil change and not cared!
