I had an oil change done in February, the technicians didn't reinstall my drain plug and I had to have my car towed a few weeks later because all of the oil drained out of my car. Today I went to get an oil change and I was greeted by Gabrielle (svc writer) and her team at the Take 5 Shop78 on Lynnhaven in Virginia Beach. She was very courteous and knowledgeable of the things I need. Also, entertaining with respectful jokes that had me laughing while waiting for service to be finished. Her Team also was great at doing what needed to be done to complete the task at hand. Everything was done timely and effectively. It was worth the time and money spent. I was met by an employee who offered me a cold bottle of water , (it was hot out too), I let them know that the last shop (a competitor ) , that did a oil change over torqued the drain plug and rounded it off too. The manager , Chrissie , said they could take care of it. How tight was the plug ? The car shook when they broke it loose and there was a loud "crack" when it came loose. They looked up my past history , (about a year prior ) , knew what service I had had and we went with that. I also was able to use the armed forces discount which was greatly appreciated. They offered a bottle of water for the road as well. I was extremely satisfied considering I would not have got the stripped bolt off and replaced by myself. I came to this location my very first Take 5 visit, since I have been to several other locations and I have ALWAYS experienced the most expedited and kind efficient customer service. However, after coming back to this location today after not being back since the very first experience I can see why this is still my favorite location. I have been going to this location for about 2 to 3 years; however, it was a different crew than what I experience this week. The assistant manager was so rude! I mean really rude. Unfortunately, nothing from a business standpoint will be done. So hopefully this post will help others stay away. The lady clearly had an attitude she took out air filter mumble something at us and threw it back on the engine. Furthermore, she was talking to the computer monitor when talking to us and when asked if she was talking to us she rudely stated yes. Now the manager seem to be pleasant and checked on us. I wish the manager would check her assistant because it was inexcusable. I will not be returning to that location ever and plan to tell all my family and friends to stay away. Goodness gracious that was quick. Marquis took charge of my oil change and absolutely killed it. He was kind, professional, and took care of business. I was driving my wife's car today and decided to try them due to dash warning lights coming on. I didn't have time to take care of an oil change myself so I decided to try these guys. It is expensive but it is as advertised. Oil change, filter change, and they also cleared the lights on my dash. The only hold up during the whole process was when I fumbled around for the hood release. Definitely recommend them as they have many different options for oil and will change filters but ONLY if they need to be changed. Appreciated the honesty that saved me a few bucks! I wanted to try this place to see if I wanted to have my 5 delivery trucks come here for oil changes. There was only one car in a bay front rollup door are up see there is only one car inside. I pulled in the back and wait to see which bay they wanted me to pull up to, after about ten minutes the service guy comes to the open bay door looks at me and closes the door doesn't say a word. I asked for the least expensive oil after reading the sign which said $42.99 (I am also a veteran who used a coupon) + they told me the cheapest was $62.99. It was such an insult to my intelligence. So my car was way overdue for an oil change. I honestly didn't want to take it in because I hate being without my car even for just a few hours. I've been to the Take 5 location on Newtown Road before but didn't feel like going over there either. As I was driving down Lynnhaven last week I noticed this location. It replaced an old building that had been vacant for a few years adjacent to Panera Bread. When I pulled up there was no other customers so I pulled right into a bay. Since I was a customer at the other location they were able to pull up my information. As someone is taking your intake information another mechanic is physically starting the work. That is one of the keys to them getting you out so quickly. They work well as a team. You actually stay in your vehicle while the work is being performed and they offer you a beverage while you wait. It took approximately 10 minutes to complete the work. I have a large engine that takes extra oil so I don't fall into the 5 minute advertisement but that's ok by me. It still alleviates the hassle of getting an oil change. Hell you don't even get your car washed that quickly at the car spa down the street so you cant beat how fast this is. What I noticed about this location much like the Newtown Road location is the friendliness of the employees. I cant speak much on price as I use synthetic oil and I pay $100 whether or not I go to a dealership or mom and pop shop. Not sure what a regular oil change costs and how that compares. However I did get a $10 coupon today which brought me down to $90 so that was a nice touch. This is a great edition to the area. read more

Have been here several times. It gets worse each time. The past 3 times they said they were out of conventional oil (the less expensive type). I asked the manager why; he said there is an oil shortage. The last 2 times they said they would have it back in in 2 days. Tried to call over 2 weeks, cannot get through on the phone. Manager says they are waiting for phone repair. Only way to find out if desired product is in stock is to waste another trip and the gas it takes to get there - in this day and age, really? They are inconsistent when offering other services, like bottled water, checking tire pressures, etc. I called their customer service number - they asked if they wanted to have them email the manager. Poorly run, not customer friendly. I moved on to a competitor and had great service. This smacked of trying to pressure the customer to buy a more expensive product. All around, bad business practice. You lost a good customer. read more

I will literally never go back to Take 5. The "convenience" isn't worth the headache. I went to the one on Lynnhaven, and after they changed my oil my check engine light was suddenly on when I restarted my car. I pointed this out, and was told "oh it must have already been on" which it WASN'T. I started to drive away but even turned around and asked if they could please double check that everything was correct. They REFUSED. Outright would not even take a moment to check that everything was seated correctly under the hood. I went to Autozone, had them read the code, and it showed up as an oil sensor error. I called Take 5, told them this over the phone, they said come back. I get back and everything is locked up and they're all gone. I had to pop the hood and find that the issue was the dipstick wasn't seated correctly. There was also oil spilled everywhere and dripping down the front of my vehicle. I almost always come to this location, never any issues. Guy who seemed to be the manager (new to the store ?) was all smiles to my husband and I but the way he spoke to the other employees made us honestly feel bad for them, he seemed super impatient and condescending. A jerk. We were the only car there. They kept on working Nd did theyre but I feel like there is some better professionalism on his end needed, at the very least. It was super quiet and akward cause it was so quiet Oil change was done in less than 10 minutes.! Ok what even is this? I only go to Take 5. I recommend all my friends and family go to THE HILLTOP location. Why did I come to this one on Lynnhaven? It's closer to my house but if I knew it was this bad I would have made the trip to Laskin. Derek seemed nice but was doing another car. The guys Marquis I had was dropping things, losing everything, needed Derek to help with every.single.thing. He was complaining the whole time, kept talking about how he breaks tools all the time but never loses them. Kept making loud noises and saying nothing was fitting. Kept using the wrong tools to get the filter off. Said it was on too tight. Was this kid high?! I was there for about 30 min and he's still working on the filter. The car that came after me was literally done and gone before he did anything with This location needs some serious help....I'm at Hilltop never more than 15 min. read more

When we pulled up, Kevin (who was our service manager tech man) gave us bottles of water, and he was great! They were super fast, the guys all seemed chill and were talking to each other. It was cute to see. They got us in and out within 10 minutes. The guy who changed our oil was Ryan. They didn't try to pull anything or get us to spend a ton of money for stuff we didn't need like most places do. Holy crap this place was impressive! Not because it took only 25 minutes tops but the two gentleman who worked on our vehicle were great!!! As soon as we pulled up we were offered cold bottles of water! I believe their names were Derrick and Duane? but they worked very well together and got the job done quick. Loved that you didn't have to get out and that they offer several discounts on their website so just pull it up and see what applies to you then show them. Pretty awesome! Keep in mind you're paying for super quick convenience so it'll run you a fairly high price but it is is what it is and sometimes that's just what you opt to do. Noticed employees littering as I arrived to drop my car off. Yelled "hey man stop littering" and was verbally accosted by the employee that was littering in response. He launched a barrage of curses and slurs at me before another employee who identified himself as the manager walked over and restrained him (employee one was approaching my car in a threatening manor telling me to get out of car etc.) When I asked the manager why employees were allowed to litter I was told to mind my own business and to leave if I wasn't getting my oil changed. I listened and turned my vehicle around. While waiting to exit the premises, a third employee carrying an infant approached my car recording on his phone calling me a "wack @$$ n***a" among other things. When I asked him why he would expose his daughter to that kind of behavior and language I was told to "keep his daughter's name out of my mouth or he would beat my ass". Suffice to say I will never be back to this location. Called the corporate office to complain and was met with a voicemail for customer service encouraging me to leave a message with my negative experience to receive a call back. Guess what! Mailbox full (I wonder why). Most unprofessional experience I've ever encountered in my adult life UPDATE: I was told that my information was passed along to the head of the customer service team and that I would be contacted within 24 hours. It has been several days and I still have not received any communication from anyone in the Take 5 Corporate team. When I pulled in I told the two young men they expected to pay $100 for an oil change. This was at the location on Newtown Road in Virginia Beach they assured me that that is what I would pay. Interestingly enough, when I left my bill was $114.76. This must be the new math. Very disappointed and will not return. I absolutely appreciate this franchise and hope they are around forever. Long gone are the days of hours wasted at a dealership or auto shop for a simple oil change. From pulling up to driving away I think I was there a total of 25 minutes. 5 minutes of which were operator (me) error. I have a newer car and haven't needed any work so I didn't know how to open my hood or how to reset the sensor afterwards, but the crew was great, they helped me figure it out and we all had a good laugh! On top of the speedy service and awesome customer service, they are a strong team. While someone works, the others check the quality of the work all while explaining everything to you. That gives me confidence that they will do a great job every time. Like the other locations they offered a refreshing beverage while I waited, offered to fill my tires, topped off the fluids and unlike the other location they gave me a handful of vent air fresheners and cleaned my windshield. On a February late afternoon you would think it would be cold. But today it was 80 degrees so I pull up to this location with my windows down. I'm guessing the men working there wouldn't think I would hear them talking shit about me when I pulled up but I heard it. With an open spot in the garage I was told last time at a different location to pull right up but at this location I heard a shaggy haired white man talking shit to his coworker about how I just pulled in.
