I had an absolutely dreadful experience at this place due to the worst customer service I've ever encountered. From the moment I arrived, I was met with rudeness and hostility. An employee approached me without so much as a greeting, immediately displaying a terrible attitude. He curtly told me to pull my car forward, but when I didn't hear him the first time, he stormed over and snapped, "Don't let me tell you again, pull it forward." I mean, they're the only oil change spot close to the house, so I'm kind of stuck with them. But the girl had me move from the front spot of lane three to put the person at the end of lane 1 there, and we all sat there over an hour waiting to get our oil changed. It doesn't make any sense how or why she did that. It was a little perturbing seeing them move POCs to the front of the lines and non-POCs to the back, but I guess that's the nature of companies allowing politics to dictate business decisions. I took my 2009 Hyundai Accent to this particular location (Take 5 Indian River VB) for a quick oil change and for a few days everything seemed fine. Days later my spouse calls and tells me there's oil all over the driveway and down the street. I had a certified mechanic check it out because I'm stationed in Millington, TN and could not check myself. Come to find out they either didn't put filter back on properly or they put wrong filter in car. Also, they did not fully drain the oil pan because the oil that leaked out was very dark. I've been coming to this location for the last 5 years. Until my last visit, I had no problems. I don't know if it's New Management or just staffing. But they damaged my oil filter housing cap which caused a major oil leak on my vehicle. I returned at a later date once I discovered the leak to inform them of what was going on. They initially tried to deny any wrongdoing until I showed them the pictures and they checked my receipts. The oil leak we caused my serpentine belt to come off and me having to purchase a new oil filter housing cap. I filed a claim to see if they were going to reimburse me or try to correct the situation but they never responded. They didn't even clean my engine after discovering the leak. With that horrible service they just lost a loyal customer. read more

This is close to home , but this is the 3rd Saturday in a row I've been up here for over a hour+ waiting. The employees have you switch lanes with other cars to sit and wait another 30+ mins before they even talk to you. I've left both Saturday's once in the morning and one in the late afternoon to go to a different location. This was the first time I visited Take 5. I called ahead to confirm if I could bring my own oil and additives. Once I arrived the tech checked me in and gave the price for service. As one tech went underneath the other continue to ask questions. ***I am not revealing the names of techs. I Told them the reason why I do not use Jiffy Lube. They always failed to replace all bolts that hold the trucks body shield in place. I stayed in the service bay for almost 20mins. The had trouble putting the unbody shield back in place. After the service, I paid the charge and told the tech to keep the change, nearly $10 (rounded up). I got home, look under the truck to find out they left one bolt out of the shield, this after being warned about my experience with Jiffy Lube. I called to only get a voice mail box that was full. I drove back up there and another Tech had me pull in, he went over to the bay where they serviced my truck, found the bolt and put it in. To recap: 1. It took longer than 5mins, waste time having to return back to the shop. 2. They did not know how to put back into place a truck's underbody shield, I guess its too heavy for them. 3. They did not learn from my past experiences and allowed it to happen again with Take 5. 4. They had me start the truck, causing oil splitter in the engine bay and did not clean it up. UPDATE: 01/21/25 The truck has been leaking oil since the service, which mean they did not put the filter on tight. Do yourself a favor, and change your oil yourself if time and resources allow it. Came on a busy day waited 30 minutes and decided to come back when they were less busy. Returned when I saw there was no line or wait and was refused service because they were closing in 30 minutes . I guess you can't really get a 5 minute oil change at this place just like they don't really close at 8pm but at 7:27pm. Would not recommend. My wife took her suburban with no previous oil leaks here for an oil change. They either did not fully tighten or put the wrong filter on, because when she got home, oil was pouring out around the filter. I had to change the filter and replace the oil myself. When my wife went to complain, they tried to intimidate her and told her that the new oil they put in ruined her main rear seal. They would not stand behind their work. read more

I have to give them 2/5 stars here. The reason for this is 1) cost of an oil change, 2) time it took, and 3) unfamiliarity with car functions. I'll explain in depth below. First of all, this is not a cheap oil change. And there's pressure to get other things done, like windshield blades, various air filters, etc. My car takes 3.5 of full synthetic oil and it cost me $84 - this was after a coupon! I get free oil changes with the dealership but I couldn't get an appointment before an upcoming road trip. Is this the price of convenience? I can get it cheaper at one of the places across or down the road. Sure, they topped off my windshield washer fluid, but I can do that. They charge an additional, separate $3.49 shop fee on top of the oil change price. Second issue was the time it took. They advertise 15 minutes but I was in the bay over twice that and waited an additional 10+ beforehand. Most of the time spent was because of reason three... Third, my car is a two year old base model Honda. It shouldn't be that hard to work on. They put in a thinner oil, cause the computer said it was ok, then had to tell me cause the oil cap says another kind. Hopefully my car runs ok, it seems ok, and I did get an explanation of why it "should be" OK from the manager. They couldn't get my air filter out, they asked if it was OK to skip that since it was gonna take a while. Luckily I had that replaced recently. They still marked it as clean on the write up, though. My tires were also marked given air, as well as a window cleaning, neither of which happened. The scrape pan/guard under the car, that covers where the oil is removed, took three people to get back on correctly. I do appreciate the manager getting down there for a final safety check. There seemed to be adequate staff there. All three bays were open. The location is good. But whatever time I may save coming here is not outweighed by the excessive cost and seemingly corner cutting experience on my visit. The receipt and write up paper I got were filthy, marred with oil (I assume) or dirt. So was the pen I had to use for the receipt. read more

I was told by several people to bring my car here. My dad's coworkers rave about this place and so I felt confident they'd do good work. My dad offered to bring my car by for a quick oil change since he had the day off and I was swamped with online school for the kids. The employees here refused to give my car an oil change. They claimed my car's engine was making strange noises. I drove all the way from Georgia to visit my family and not once did I hear a strange noise during the drive up. My dad comes home and tells me what happened and I'm frustrated and now obviously concerned. I call Honda and explain my issues and they squeeze me in (thankfully). They told me "the noise" they heard was completely normal and that it was just the fuel injectors. I don't think I'd ever need another oil change on a visit back up here, but I can't say that this is where I'd go if I did. Had the best customer service ever on my lunch break. I didn't even have to get out of my car. Gabrielle and Charles were very fast (10 minutes) and polite. This was an extremely bad experience. I've used this location over the years with no problem, but some semi-recent staffing changes have now severed that relationship. We recently moved back as well, so I'm not sure exactly when said staffing change happened. Eventually, I was helped (more like herded) by a gentleman who was EXTREMELY irritable. This man was seething. I get it, they were very busy. We're all human. But he just kept adding on the layers; going so far as to complain to me in detail about the customer ahead of me. I still let it go. Everyone has bad days and people suck sometimes (yes, including the customers). Never mind the initial 30 minute wait - again, they were slammed, and that's understandable. BUT... what is NOT understandable, NOR acceptable is the fact that I concluded my oil change, then literally made it only THREE MILES up the road before losing the front half end of my skid plate due to it being poorly attached. It has never fallen off before. It was scraping the ground so fiercely that I was unable to drive the car any further and ended up stranded at a gas station. Thank GOODNESS I was close to home and that my husband was able to come help. Upon calling Take 5 management to let them know what happened, they advised that I just drive the car anyhow, skid plate just a-hanging *in the worst possible way* to be moving forward, spitting up sparks, and they said I should just cruise on back over so they could fix it. I declined, as I know how many other problems this could cause. So, once my husband was able to get me and temporarily secure the skid plate, the car was finally safe to drive. We returned to the establishment for Take 5 to correct their mistake. I am not exaggerating when I say we waited 1.5 hours to be greeted. This was after calling ahead to confirm we would be back (like they asked me to). Once we were finally greeted, it was the same person who acted like he'd never seen us and asked what type of oil change we'd like. Hmm... we'll take the time machine special please, good sir? And... it gets better. Possibly, the second wait was so much worse because they were also working on another vehicle that had been damaged in a separate bay!! Something about a broken off dip stick. Sounds like a real pain! Two in one day! Not great! Nonetheless, our full time investment for our 5-10 minute oil change is as follows: initial wait time: ~30 minutes; initial service time: ~15 minutes; vehicular failure and evaluation: ~45 minutes; second wait time at establishment to be greeted: 1.5 hours; second wait time at establishment to actually drive off: ~30 minutes. That is roughly 3.5 HOURS of unnecessary roughness, y'all. And I am being kind on that time valuation. What was their ultimate resolution, you might be wondering? Zip ties. My car is not BRAND new... but it is not to the zip tie phase yet, trust me. It doesn't even have 50,000 miles on it! Zip ties? Already?? Eventually, we drove off with our zip ties holding together my not-so-old vehicle. Ironically, the same guy who gave up on even attaching the thing in the first place was the one to re-attach it. He offered no apology, only more complaints. It was truly an awful experience and his energy was incredibly bad throughout each experience. You could audibly hear him cussing and complain about the public during both encounters. He didn't even have the initiative to clear my oil change light, much less put the dang car back together! What's more to be said, is I did hear more than one employee come over to him and ask him to please calm down during my time at this establishment. Employees who appeared to be at the age when they should be looking up to him for guidance, not vice versa. As bad as I feel making the poor guy's day worse, this sure was a "clown party in the gutter" experience. I will not go back. And it honestly is only because of that one employee. I'm sorry dude, you really need a different job. It'll be better for your health and anyone's health who visits Take 5 on Indian River. read more

So, this was my first time using this service. However, they have changed the oil in my vehicle before. I had someone else bring my vehicle for the last oil change. I guess because I did not pay for the services it did not resonate how expensive their services are. By the time I left, it cost me $82.10 for an oil change. I also felt pressured if I didn't select the service option they presented "supposedly " recommended by the vehicle manufacturers I was told I would have to sign a release of liability. As I pulled into the bay, the instructions were given so fast I couldn't understand the instructions that were given to me. This was a hard lesson in these tough financial times, if you don't properly plan to have these services done, or you find yourself in a jam and need to get it done for whatever reason...you are going to pay big time for the convenience and not necessarily for the service.
