Got the negitori oshinko classic roll which came with less pieces, like 6 total. But I'd say it was my favorite. It was so fresh and delicious, totally hit the spot. Sometimes you want more raw and other times you want more crunch and flavor bomb, you know? That's something that makes LA so special, triangulate yourself on Yelp and find a gem! Will travel from the Westside for this place lol my main favorite was the yellowtail bowl and I added jalapeno to it half rice and greens. So so so good and huge. The crispy rice was a little over done but the food was so fantastic I didn't care I'm sure it will be perfect next time! I loved the albacore social no rice I want all of those. I get jalapeno poppers everywhere they're offered so glad the tuna inside wasn't cooked like some spots. Props on having all of the sauces on each table and ginger and wasabi on the counter with the self serve water and after meal hi chews and treats! I got a few pieces of nigiri, some rolls, and crispy rice with tuna. The nigiri was fresh and delicious and the rolls were just as great! The order was ready by the time I went inside, and the guy in the front really packed them well since he placed a piece of cardboard to separate the Snow White roll, which was baked and hot, from the other rolls. Not good. I don't know where the solid reviews are coming from. The website describes the ambiance as "minimalist / self serve". I would describe it more as clinical and cold. The interior is all gray and black with no warmth or color anywhere. And as is typical with many eateries in Koreatown, they've erased any human element from the experience. You are not greeted when you walk in, and you can make the choice to order from an iPad at the counter or through a barcode on your phone. The ginger, wasabi, and miso soup are self-serve on a counter in the back-- very strange. The wasabi and ginger were both ice cold like they'd both been recently thawed. The miso soup had no tofu in it. It was literally just broth. The spicy garlic edamame came to our table cold with no dish to put the scraps. The albacore on the Cilantro Albacore Roll had a slightly fishy taste and an unappealing, pre-frozen texture -- as though it had just been thawed. The tuna in the Spicy Tuna Crispy Rice had zero flavor-- all you could taste was an overpowering amount of sesame oil. The food is a bit cheaper than a typical nice sit-down sushi restaurant, ranging from $14 - 21. Nowadays it's typical for rolls to start at $17 and go up from there. But I'd much rather pay a few extra dollars for fresh, flavorful fish and BASIC customer service. I regret spending my money here. read more
