I ordered appetizers, soup, and sushi through Uber Eats. It was fine , I've gotten it before and it's very average at best but I knew what I was getting. But....I also ordered 2 orders of pork fried rice which is a very simple thing to make and it holds up as takeout. It arrived and it was literally steamed rice w very little veggies and a minuscule amount of pork. Not only that, it was never fried which makes it even worse w/o the other ingredients. I called Jerry the manager and sent him pics and he just blew me off saying that they don't add soy sauce to their pork fried rice which is fine but what about actually frying it in a wok hence the name-pork "fried" rice. I'll never order from there again. Just the fact that he didn't care to try to make it right in any way is what turned me off from this place. Rating off of delivery order but rating food only of course. Ordered the Double Dragon Roll and Rainbow Roll Noted Allergic to Sesame seeds and review is 3 because it was not take serious enough. So with that being said, the rolls are pretty good, decent size, tasted fresh and presentation was nice. I did find 7 sesame seeds throughout 2 rolls. I feel an establishment should decline orders if they don't feel They cannot overcome such "a challenge". I am an adult and inspect each roll before I eat it. I typically don't lift the fish on top trusting they won't be hidden under there but man did I guess wrong. We are visiting Pompano Beach from DC, where over the past several months prices of sushi have gone up by at least a third, making it prohibitively expensive. So you can imagine how pleased we were to find this restaurant that was both reasonably priced and well rated on Yelp. We ordered takeout, so I can't speak to the eat-in experience - to the extent that we interacted with staff they were efficient and helpful. The food is excellent. When we got it in the car I noted how good and fresh it smelled - not fishy, just fresh and oceanic and a little bit savory. Upon opening out our takeout containers we found food that was well portioned and visually appetizing, and that held up well in transit, with ample containers of soy sauce, wasabi and ginger. The fish itself was super fresh, the nori high quality and flavorful. Overall flavors were delicate and balanced. They also did some unique things that made their rolls different from the standard things we're used to seeing over and over. In particular, the addition of scallions to the 4x4 roll - Take's answer to the standard salmon avocado roll - brings a new layer of complexity and makes the roll pop. My only nitpick is that, as a salmon lover, I wish they had more salmon options. Tuna and tempura shrimp lovers will rejoice. read more

Take sushi has been a staple in Pompano Beach for years. Family owned and operated and you can tell. They are always super friendly. I highly recommend starting off with their crab spinach soup and edamame. Both are a delicious and a great price for the amount you receive. Next I recommend their famous dirty roll. It's tuna salmon avocado cucumber spicy mayo crab & cream cheese. It's mixed and placed on top of the roll - super delicious and quite filling. For dessert always anything tempura with ice cream. I just ordered delivery and I am disappointed to say that I am unimpressed. The rice is large and too much is used in the roll. I was also not happy with the quality of the tuna used in my sushi and handroll. It wasn't inedible, but was to the point I did not finish it. I have very high standards when it comes to sushi and the way the tuna was cut thick also did not settle with me. Take Sushi is a near perfect little nitchy strip mall hole in wall restaurant. It's comfortable small, cozy, well appoint, has a beautiful little pleasant to the eyes fish tank aquarium, really great food served up in delightfully appearing presentation and a top notch friendly professional wait staff. There are several kind of quirky things about it. First off, the table setting is with chopsticks only, rather oddly Chinese, not Japanese chopsticks, so if you're like me or like the inept fat lady that sat near me who ended up slobbering food and juices all over herself, her table top and the floor, you'll have to ask for flatware. And, at the end of your meal you'll get a Chinese fortune cookie, even though this restaurant is clearly Japanese, not Chinese. When seated I was first presented with a complimentary bowl of noodles in broth. It didn't look like much, but the taste was totally delicious. The menu is large with all sorts of rolls and selections of varying fish. There is also a board of specials which is well worth a read and little note board tablets listing any new, not on the menu or daily specials board items. The one for the particular night I was there was for fired oysters, an item not found in most sushi places or area Japanese restaurants. I started off ordering the baby octopus salad which came with plenty of baby octopus, a leaf of greens, and shredded carrot. The octopus had a delightful firm texture and the sauce tasty; a perfect enhancement and compliment to the overall dish. I followed that with their "Red Dragon" roll which roll had a center core of yellowfin (ahi) tuna surrounded by a sticky rice, topped off with slices off with more bright red to the eye fresh sushi grade tuna. As rolls go, and I'm not usually one who orders rolls, it was one of best, properly prepared and presented on a special specifically made for rolls plate. Though the area has a lot of really good Japanese or sushi restaurants, because of the cozy ambiance and top notch service...waitresses who actually know how to properly count change....this happens to be one of my favorites. The place also affords, probably because so many of nearby businesses have closed or failed, plenty of space for parking, with spaces adequate enough that you don't need to worry about the sides of your car getting banged in by somebody else swing their doors open. read more

Was visiting Pompeno Beach for the long weekend. Family was craving sushi and remembered Take Sushi was up the street. We had the order delivered... ordered the Green Giant roll, yellow tail jalapeño, crabmeat Rangoon, Wahoo tataki roll, Moby dick roll, crazy roll, and Mexican roll. All of the rolls were fresh... the rice was fresh and full of flavor. The fish was very fresh delicious. The star for me was the yellow tail jalapeño as the yellow tail was sweet and paired well with a fresh slice of raw jalapeño pepper. I love Take Sushi for a couple of reasons : 1. The food not only smells amazing- it tastes equally amazing! 2. Their service is consistently warm and friendly (shoutout to Bosco!) 3. Their food is reasonably priced (shrimp fried rice for 9$) I moved to Pompano recently and this has become my go-to place for Japanese and Chinese food. They deliver dinner and takeout is quick. My favorite is the Shrimp Fried Rice. I combine that with a good old Sapporo some days. So yesterday was supposedly "International Sushi Day". It's not like I need an excuse to eat sushi, but this sure helped give me a little push. We had an event to attend in Pompano so we figured we'd drive up a little early and grab sushi in the area. Turning to my Yelp app, I found Take Sushi. Take Sushi is a perfect hole in the wall sushi spot, which is my kind of sushi place. I use a simple side salad with ginger dressing as my benchmark as to whether a place is overpriced or not, and Take Sushi is appropriately priced at $1.95. If I lived in the area Take Sushi would easily become my go-to sushi spot as the customer service was quick and attentive, the food came out super fast (we were in and out in 30mins), prices were cheap, and food was fresh. Steven C. started with a miso soup, which was pretty standard but seemed to have a little bit more tofu than usual. I started with a baby octopus salad which was good but the sauce wasn't quite right. We split a Green Giant Roll, Futomaki Roll and the Double Dragon Roll - which is half green dragon and half red dragon. The Double Dragon roll was probably my favorite and I liked that basically we got to try 4 different rolls here just by ordering 3. The Futomaki was comparable to my sushi spot and similar to other places in that the pieces were huge. The Green Giant Roll was good, but the "spinach crunch" wasn't all I had hoped for. Turns out it's just those crunchy flakes I've had on other rolls only dyed green. Still, good in taste and great in presentation but not quite as inventive as I was thinking. We hung out for a bit after paying the check as they had the World Cup game on. Two complaints - it was a bit cold inside, and the sushi pieces themselves had the tendency to fall apart once I picked them up. After reading other reviewers I was reluctant to try this spot as people either loved or hated it. However, after running out of options one night I gave it a try. The small, older restaurant is set in a busy strip mall with easy parking. It was fairly quiet when I arrived about 8 pm on a Thursday night, but in no time at all, all of the tables were filled with groups of people and couples on dates. The lighting is subtle and the atmosphere relaxed and fairly quiet. My server, Bosco was friendly and made helpful suggestions as to his favorite rolls. I ordered the Dirty Roll and Shumai and sat back to wait. What a pleasant surprise to be served a complimentary noodle appetizer, made with fresh ginger and rice wine vinegar - it was quite flavorful and a nice touch. The roll was so flavorful and really unique, and the shumai were delicate and perfectly steamed. All in all, the service by Bosco and food made my dining experience quite positive, yet I was reluctant to review based on others experiences. Soooo ... I went back and tried it again. This time I brought a friend who doesn't eat sushi. Bosco gave the same warm and friendly service, and my roll was just as fresh and delicious as the last time. My friend ordered the fried rice with pork, chicken & shrimp and it was so rich in flavor that I had to steal a few bites. The pork dumplings were also quite appetizing and so were the spring rolls. There are fancier spots in the area, but all in all, this is a cute, older, casual, local spot. Visited yesterday for the first time to celebrate an early Mothers day. I ordered the wahu tatake, calamari, sashimi, dirty dragon roll and oreo tempura with vanilla ice cream. The food tasted fresh and it definitely satisfied my taste buds. The only thing i wasnt fond of was the calamari appetizer. The dine - in area is fairly small which makes the restaurant setting more intimate. I will be back to eat more sushi.
