Octopus Tacos Ahogada TORTA Papas Bravas Street Corn (esquites)
    Devona S.

Attentive staff! And so kind and accommodating as we had our pups. We sat outside and it was nice views but still private which I enjoyed. They were out of the nacho appetizer that we originally wanted but we were still happy with our choices. The octopus taco tasted amazing and had the best texture. So much good flavor. The Papas Bravas is always a staple must have order and didnt disappoint. My partner got the torta and it was also really good but a little sad about the portion sizes. Definitely a trendy restaurant that you pay more for because of aesthetics. Thats the only reason Im giving 4 stars, the price isn't worth the small sizes.

Meh... this was just ok for me. The service was weird and not just because of the weird robot rolling out delivery orders... it just seemed very generic to me and our tacos were too overdressed, couldn't taste anything but the sauce which also just made them soggy. Disappointing...

Attended the love island trivia night at tako torta and had a blast! The burning flower cocktail was super tasty and I absolutely loved both of my tacos. Service was friendly and it was such a fun night. Can't wait for the next trivia night!

Came for dinner with family just in time to catch the end of happy hour. Honestly the loaded nachos were the best part of the meal. The cheese sauce was delicious and so was the guacamole and salsa. The tacos were fine, but not my favorite. Service was fairly fast and the takeout containers are designed for tacos which is cool.

    COLD Octopus (Täkō) Taco

Tako Torta must be Japanese for Cold Food. I have no idea how they did what they did, but these were not served appropriately. Here's a taco run down! Carne Asada Taco - The meat was almost refrigerator cold Octopus Taco - It was tender and delicious, but lukewarm at best Fried Shrimp - The shrimp was cold, but still crunchy Buffalo Chicken - The chicken was the warmest of them all, but not hot. I got this after I said something about the other tacos and this one STILL wasn't hot. Our server disappeared for a while after the food came, so it took forever to let her know about the issue. The last thing I wanted was to get sick from food in the Danger Zone. Seafood in the danger zone is even worse. Finally I was able to tell her about it and she was trying to figure out why they were cold. The manager came and apologized and said it came right from the kitchen to our table via the robot server. He said everything is fresh and they don't have heat lamps (maybe they need them, lol). I had to ask him for water refills because our server surely didn't notice. I've eaten many a fried chicken sandwich and if you get one right out of the fryer, you cannot eat it quickly as it's really hot. I ate this fried buffalo chicken taco like it was a leftover chick-fil-a sandwich. There's no way this thing was fresh, even though they said it was. It would be steaming hot if I bit into it. Same with Fried Shrimp. If I get an order at a restaurant, even the last one still has some heat to it. Not a Tako Torta! Cold Crunchy Fried! It's an art form for sure, just not an edible one. The server asked if the "fresh" buffalo chicken taco was better and I said not really and she was just kind of "oh well" about it. They did take the two tacos I didn't eat off the bill, but when the rest of the tacos were cold, it was just a disappointment. I enjoyed Sheetz tacos more than this place (I'm not just saying that either... even my last one of 6 was still hot) It's a shame as the place is beautiful and located in a busy area of town. There's a reason it was mostly empty inside (on a Thursday evening) while the food hall across the street was pretty busy. The Downtown Tako location is amazing (or at least it was when I was there a few years ago). I wish this location lived up to that memory. With a few tweaks (hot food, not lying about their food being fresh, and servers who at least care), this place could be a winner. Right now, it's a (non) hot mess!

Since I had last been here, the menu has changed completely! There are no longer bowls on the menu and there are wait staff (rather than ordering at the counter). I had the nachos with chorizo. The staff accommodated my gluten allergy but using different cheese than the nachos the menu, which I really appreciate! The margaritas here are fresh too. Overall I liked the meal. I think the food is on the expensive side, but I'll definitely be back for drinks! On a weeknight my group of 3 was sat immediately, so I don't think you need reservations for a week day!

A new restaurant in Bakery Square. Parking in the garage less than 2 hours is free and a short walk to the restaurant. We chose to order via the QR code on the table (or you can wait for wait staff) and the food is brought out to you on a robot. I liked that most allergies were listed for each item so that you could select and have the food prepared appropriately. This was a fun experience expect our food was delivered about 15 mins apart since we ordered separately. The pico salsa was a bit spicy (and good), which is listed as mild, and a lot of chips. The octopus was cooked well and quite filling. Hopefully they work some of the kinks out soon.

    Chicken tacos

Cool modern spot for tacos, tortas, and several other classics. Tortas are essentially Mexican sandwiches. They have a few options for those. But, I decided to try out some of their tacos and a dessert to see their baseline. I tried the classic chicken tacos and a tres leches. First thing I noticed is this place is really quite expensive. A single taco can cost $7+. And they are huge tacos or anything like that, just regular size. Now, the quality is pretty high. The chicken was nicely roasted and quite flavorful and tender. They used a nice amount of spice. The cheese they had was kind of plasticy and not my favorite, though. The tortilla itself was nice and thin, soaked up the sauce, and I enjoyed it. The tres leches was also kind of disappointing. Small portion for the price. They also use a lot of blueberries, and that kind of masked the creamy, milky flavorful. Too overpowering. Wouldn't really recommend. All in all, an ok taco and torta place. They have some unique offerings, but the place is expensive and I don't think the quality makes up for the price.

Okay so update- I posted my original review two days ago (it was sitting my drafts for a while and I finally got around to posting it). I went to tako torta yesterday and it's different now! It's now a sit down with a menu (before you would order at the front and pick up your own food). The menu is a little bit different too, so the build your own bowls that I was talking about are no longer on there :( anyways, I got the chips and guac and the Carnitas taco, the shrimp taco and the fish taco and as usual it was all delicious! All the tacos were sooo flavorful. With the new menu, you can order different types of tacos, which I love! My friends actually thought the food was better since the change! Tako torta is one of my go to spots!

    Prickly Pear Margarita

Fun, large space - cool design with inviting outdoor space. Started with a margarita. It was a little too sweet but a good beginning. My husband's nachos were great. With all the toppings on the side, you are able to get the right amount of salsa, guac, etc. per chip. My Mediterranean bowl was good except the Brussel sprouts were burnt. The menu says charred carrots. The carrots were charred and delicious. The Brussel sprouts were burnt and inedible. I mentioned to the server asking if they were supposed to be that well done. The server mumbled something and walked away never addressing my question. We sat at the bar after dinner for another drink and trivia which was a good time. We will be back for the bar and apps plus trivia but passing on the table service and burnt Brussel sprouts.

It's a shame because the food is decent. But the self service and bar wait times leave you sat on your own for half of your meal.

(I reviewed my free meal under the listing for that event.) My husband is not a Yelper, so he paid for his meal. Guacamole and tostadas - 4.5 stars - This appetizer was a large size. The tostadas were nicely crispy and had the perfect amount of salt. The guacamole was fresh. My husband said that it was probably the best value that we have even gotten for chips and guacamole at any restaurant. Carne-asada street tacos - 3.5 stars - Again, the serving size was large. The tortillas reminded me a bit of my husband's Mexican grandma's tortillas. As for the carne-asada meat, my husband said, "I don't know what that was supposed to be." Eek! However, he added, "The beans and rice are very good. There's definitely a Mexican in that kitchen." Well, I do not know who the chefs are, but I hope that they accept that last comment as a compliment. These two menu items cost $42 plus tax and tip.
