    Hummus

It's an excellent lunch spot to try something new in Sanford. It is a locally-owned restaurant, and the food is delicious. Two people were in the open kitchen area when I first walked in. Turns out they were the only employees at the time. Regardless of the short staff, we were greeted, and the owners (I assumed) were kind and friendly. The restaurant is casual; just a heads up if you expect something more. The menu is simple and has excellent options. My husband and I opted for the combos. I had the Doner (Gyro), and my husband had the Philly Cheese Steak, both with fries & canned soda. Both were delicious and tasty. We also ordered the hummus, and it has been one of the ones I have had. Due to the short staff, we waited a bit for our food, but it was no big deal. The lady checked on us a few times to ensure we were all good. I will return to the restaurant to try one of their entrees and kebabs. One tip: they had a sign about a discount if you pay with cash.

Wow!!! What a find in Sanford! Authentic small mom and pop shop with delicious food and friendly service! Don't expect fancy, this is anything but! However, if you want delicious home cooked food served with a smile this is your spot! I thought the food was very good, nice portion sizes and lots of flavor. I wouldn't say this is traditional Turkish but more towards street food/halal! Enjoyed our last minute find and will def be back for more! Oh and do yourself a favor... get the baklava! The best I've ever had! (Ate it too fast to take a pic)

You walk up to the counter and place your order and they bring the food to your table. Everything was very good and fresh and delicious. There are some things on the menu that we're already looking forward to coming back and trying. Like stuffed cabbage!

This mom and pop shop is truly a hidden gem! My husband and I had dinner here a few nights ago for the first time and definitely plan on making this a regular spot! The owners are very friendly and welcoming. We started with delicious baba ganoush for our appetizer. Then for our entrees, we ordered the mixed grill kebab and doner kebab. All of the meat in mixed grill was very flavorful. My favorite was the gyros. The rice and salad that came with the entrees were really great and fresh. They served us Turkish tea towards the end of our dinner. I highly recommend this spot - especially for the gyros!

Heard about this place from Instagram/fellow yelper. Wasn't planning on eating here but Sanford was too busy so we diverted to Taksim. We arrived at 630 and there were a couple people dining. We waited at the front for a few minutes, looking over the special board. Finally we decided to grab menus and seat ourselves. There were two guys working in the open kitchen. They looked busy. We weren't sure if there were any wait staff or host etc. so we perused the menu for awhile. A bunch of people were coming to pick up to go orders. Just as I was getting up to order at the cash register, the guy announced he was coming over to serve us. So I sat down. We started with the hummus appetizer and two bottled waters. For dinner, we shared the lamb shank which was on special $2 off menu price. It came with a side salad. We also had the gyro a la carte and the chicken Adana kebap, which came with a side salad. Everything was great. I love how they toasted the pita bread with the hummus. It came with a reddish oil on it- which is red pepper but not hot pepper. The rice on the Adana kebap plate was delicious. So buttery. We ate everything. We only had a little humus and pita to take home. So while the guy said it was a lot of food for two people, I don't think it was. It was just right. The two guys are doing everything for the place. So as it started to get busier, the wait for food got longer. We were lucky to arrive before the big groups. The baklava was not my favorite. Not enough crispy layers. I'm glad we shared one piece and didn't get a full order. I would recommend this place. The guys are nice and know what they're doing. Check out the daily special board. Bring your own bottled water. And don't get the baklava. It's a casual spot, so dining in was not an issue, but we would've been more comfortable at home. Maybe to go is the real answer here.

The employees here are so sweet. Customer interaction was 10/10. It's a very simple restaurant with tables to dine in, or you hAve the option to also walk up to the counter and order your food to go. The food was pretty delicious. The only downside is that due to a small staff, you may have to wait awhile for your food. Our kids food came out first and we maybe waited another ten or so until the kitchen brought my husband and my food out. My lamb Adana kabap was so flavorful with a good portion of rice and a tart salad to accompany everything. A nice touch was also some pita bread on the plate. The price is pretty comparable to another Turkish restaurant we frequent in Winter Park. The baklava was so sweet and sticky- perfect! One kid got a burger, which was surprisingly yummy... good fries as well. The other child got a Philly cheesesteak which was great!!

Stopped in for lunch, had the islander kebab. Pretty good. definitely has that Mediterranean feel as you walk in or the café style dining but nonetheless nice .Will go again.

Absolutely delicious! They have a great lunch special! Everything is under $10 on their lunch special menu! Pictured here though is their Chicken Adana Kabob plate! So good!

As we entered the restaurant it took a while for them to even great us until we said something. Then we ordered and my chicken gyro had bad chicken on it I had to spit most of it out and was hard in some areas. It seemed as they seasoned and cooked little like 15 times over and over again. Nasty (and I despise calling food nasty but this one was). Then another person came in to get food and we had to scream for them to come out and attend to that customer. Then the numbers did not add up. We are thinking they are charging hidden fees to done in.

What a pleasant surprise this place was. Ambiance is basic with small traditional trinkets. The food and service were 11/10. A passionate worker, who I think was an owner, asked how hungry I was. They suggested the gyro meal. I was surprised to see this beautiful plate. And trust me when I say it tasted as good as it looks. Everything on it, as it comes. Would dine here again!!!!

Amazing food and tea. It's very quiet on Sundays, so it's much more personal with the chef.

The ambience has a little to be desired, but the food was good. Portion sizes were big and left full.

If you're looking fresh, delicious, and flavorful food then you must try this Syrian food truck!…read more I don't think there is much Syrian specific options in the area. They are a food truck located behind a Smoke Shop on 17-92 in Longwood. We ordered the Double Arabi Shawarma. They cooked the shawarma fresh for us and the garlic sauce was top tier! We also ordered the dessert, it was like a rice pudding topped with cooked kunafa and pistachios, i love dessert and loved this!!! They were so friendly with top service and the ambiance was great with a beautiful lake view. We definitely plan to go again to try the Toshka and another version of the dessert!

Excited to try some Syrian food we visited on a Sunday evening. The food truck is behind a smoke…read moreshop and there are a few places to sit. We ordered the toshka, which is lamb meat with cheese and it comes with a garlic sauce, pickles, tomatoes and a little coleslaw for $14. Another item we ordered was the sujuk for $13. Of the two I preferred this one, it felt more filling. It's bread pressed with pickles, tomatoes and the same minced lamb filling that's in the toshka. You can make the sujuk a meal for an extra $2.50, it will come with fries and a soda. Everything we had tasted good but I felt like the portions were kind of small. The meat was a very thin layer and we both left feeling hungry still. I also didn't like that there was no actual menu in person, we already looked it up online, so we knew what we wanted but the menu doesn't share much details of what a "make it a meal" includes. For what we ordered it seemed to take a considerably long time to make, around 20 minutes. Overall it was nice to try something different, but I was unimpressed with the portion size for the prices.
