I was at a weekend course next door at the Seminole State College Lake Mary/Sanford campus and had a short break for lunch. I wanted something not too heavy and luckily found an amazing Turkish restaurant next door with great value! The owners were very friendly and welcoming. I ordered a falafel with a side of frees, I believe it was only like $11 or $13. Pretty good price and I left extremely full! The restaurant has a good amount of tables with very authentic Turkish decor and memorabilia. It's an excellent lunch spot to try something new in Sanford. It is a locally-owned restaurant, and the food is delicious. Two people were in the open kitchen area when I first walked in. Turns out they were the only employees at the time. Regardless of the short staff, we were greeted, and the owners (I assumed) were kind and friendly. The restaurant is casual; just a heads up if you expect something more. The menu is simple and has excellent options. My husband and I opted for the combos. I had the Doner (Gyro), and my husband had the Philly Cheese Steak, both with fries & canned soda. Both were delicious and tasty. We also ordered the hummus, and it has been one of the ones I have had. Due to the short staff, we waited a bit for our food, but it was no big deal. The lady checked on us a few times to ensure we were all good. I will return to the restaurant to try one of their entrees and kebabs. Wow!!! What a find in Sanford! Authentic small mom and pop shop with delicious food and friendly service! Don't expect fancy, this is anything but! However, if you want delicious home cooked food served with a smile this is your spot! I thought the food was very good, nice portion sizes and lots of flavor. This mom and pop shop is truly a hidden gem! My husband and I had dinner here a few nights ago for the first time and definitely plan on making this a regular spot! The owners are very friendly and welcoming. We started with delicious baba ganoush for our appetizer. Then for our entrees, we ordered the mixed grill kebab and doner kebab. All of the meat in mixed grill was very flavorful. My favorite was the gyros. The rice and salad that came with the entrees were really great and fresh. They served us Turkish tea towards the end of our dinner. I highly recommend this spot - especially for the gyros! read more

Heard about this place from Instagram/fellow yelper. Wasn't planning on eating here but Sanford was too busy so we diverted to Taksim. We arrived at 630 and there were a couple people dining. We waited at the front for a few minutes, looking over the special board. Finally we decided to grab menus and seat ourselves. There were two guys working in the open kitchen. They looked busy. We weren't sure if there were any wait staff or host etc. so we perused the menu for awhile. A bunch of people were coming to pick up to go orders. Just as I was getting up to order at the cash register, the guy announced he was coming over to serve us. So I sat down. We started with the hummus appetizer and two bottled waters. For dinner, we shared the lamb shank which was on special $2 off menu price. It came with a side salad. We also had the gyro a la carte and the chicken Adana kebap, which came with a side salad. Everything was great. I love how they toasted the pita bread with the hummus. It came with a reddish oil on it- which is red pepper but not hot pepper. The rice on the Adana kebap plate was delicious. So buttery. We ate everything. We only had a little humus and pita to take home. So while the guy said it was a lot of food for two people, I don't think it was. It was just right. The two guys are doing everything for the place. So as it started to get busier, the wait for food got longer. We were lucky to arrive before the big groups. The baklava was not my favorite. Not enough crispy layers. I'm glad we shared one piece and didn't get a full order. I would recommend this place. The guys are nice and know what they're doing. Check out the daily special board. Bring your own bottled water. And don't get the baklava. It's a casual spot, so dining in was not an issue, but we would've been more comfortable at home. Maybe to go is the real answer here. read more

The employees here are so sweet. Customer interaction was 10/10. It's a very simple restaurant with tables to dine in, or you hAve the option to also walk up to the counter and order your food to go. The food was pretty delicious. The only downside is that due to a small staff, you may have to wait awhile for your food. Our kids food came out first and we maybe waited another ten or so until the kitchen brought my husband and my food out. My lamb Adana kabap was so flavorful with a good portion of rice and a tart salad to accompany everything. A nice touch was also some pita bread on the plate. The price is pretty comparable to another Turkish restaurant we frequent in Winter Park. The baklava was so sweet and sticky- perfect! First time visit. Had the grape leaves appetizer and lamb gyro lunch special. Grape leaves were the perfect 2 bite teaser of awesome food making you further anticipate the main dish. The lamb on the gyro was tender and juicy (melt in your mouth) and seasoned beautifully. The gentlemen who took my order and the other 2 cooking were professional but welcoming. As we entered the restaurant it took a while for them to even great us until we said something. Then we ordered and my chicken gyro had bad chicken on it I had to spit most of it out and was hard in some areas. It seemed as they seasoned and cooked little like 15 times over and over again. Nasty (and I despise calling food nasty but this one was). Then another person came in to get food and we had to scream for them to come out and attend to that customer. What a pleasant surprise this place was. Ambiance is basic with small traditional trinkets. The food and service were 11/10. A passionate worker, who I think was an owner, asked how hungry I was. Went there to pick up an order. Not busy at all Easter Sunday with no customers inside I'm not one to throw racial accusations around but I was completely ignored when I walked up to the register. Another customer who appears Turkish was acknowledged. There was someone at the register so it's not like they didn't see me. Stumbled upon this place while driving earlier this week. Finally stopped in today-they had a "buffet/platter" meal which included rice, carrots, eggplant, peppers onions and a chicken leg quarter. We also had a gyro with onion, lettuce, tomato and tzatziki and dessert baclava with pistachios. Everything was super tasty, fresh and the staff/owner was welcoming and explained the menu in detail. Really clean and attractive setting inside. The owners were extremely friendly, explained the entire menu and went out of their way to show us everything they had. They even brought out some amazing Turkish tea to go with our meal. The food is a bit overpriced (unless you get the lunch special, which was very well priced) for what you get. I ordered the Lamb Adana wrap, and the lamb was extremely well flavored and delicious, but I thought the wrap could have benefited from more tzatziki sauce. OMG! There was a time when I used to live in Germany and surprisingly enough, Turkish restaurants were everywhere! I fell in love with Turkish food but in this area, it's hard to find! I finally, finally found a spot so close to home that offers Donar Kabobs and my baba ghanoush! What is baba ghanoush you may ask? It's very similar to hummus but made out of eggplant! I love the freshness, the roastedness of the baba ghanoush! So delicious! Now they make everything in house, besides the pita bread but you can't tell the difference. It tastes all Fresh anyhow! We absolutely loved the service, both of the owners - cooks are extremely nice and friendly, they take great pride in their work. They absolutely should because everything was just amazing! I just stopped into the (Sanford) Taksim Turkish Restaurant. I ordered 2 items to go... the Lentil Soup, which was extremely hot (that the cook/owner(?) warned me of...) had good flavor, more of a "creamed" soup, not as much vegetable texture-which I prefer... And the "Domer Gyro Sandwich," which is spectacular!!! After finishing the soup, I could only eat about 1/3 of the very delicious, well seasoned gyro. I will be returning sometime soon to have another gyro and try other items, too! read more

I stopped and grabbed the "Doner Kebab" to go. I guess it was a "dinner" it came with rice, salad, and half a grilled tomato with a grilled Jalapeño. The rice was really good buttery and flavorful, the gyro meat was good, not the best I've ever had but it wasn't bad by any means. The salad was made with fresh cut ingredients, however it didn't have any oil or sauce on it, maybe that's how it normally comes with Turkish cuisine but I'm use to a little dressing of some sort. The baklava was really good, which is what I was expecting for $7, it came with 4 smaller pieces. Side of olives, hard to get those wrong, they were delicious. Overall the meal was good, not sure if I'd be willing to pay the $30 often to eat here. The doner kebab entree was $19, and the baklava was $7, plus tip. read more

Just discovered this hidden gem off 17-92. My husband and I went to Turkey on our honeymoon and for our anniversary always go to a Turkish restaurant. This year we didn't want to drive far and searched for Turkish food nearby. They were less than 10 minutes from our Lake Mary home. The food and the service were stellar. It's not very fancy but if you want good food - please check it out. We have enough chain restaurants around here - need these independent ones to do well!! read more
