This has become our go to spot for tacos. There's something about sweet plantains that go so perfectly with this combination. The place is super nice with good music always playing. Food: we ordered the birria tacos and steak burrito. The first birria taco we took out had one side that was completely soggy and falling apart. That was disappointing since the same thing happened at the other location we visited. The flavor was okay/good in the sense that it was good enough but did not impress me. I usually like to order from their starter menu section because the quantity is HUGE. I couldn't finish in 1 sitting after eating this because it was a lot. I mean that in a good way. I love leftovers. Their Street Corn Nachos was so delish but I didn't think it was too spicy. I'd say if you can tolerate Takis, then this is okay. By the way, it's been a while since I visited this restaurant location so I forgot to bring a jacket. I was cold within a minute especially that mega a/c they had near the pick-up counter. I've been here many times and sadly when stuff starts taking a turn those are signs of trouble. I orders birria tacos and the opted to use nacho cheese. Now I understand that they were thinking to continue to make the sale and give what they got. This should not be the case. If you don't have all the ingredients to execute the order then let me know and give me the option. Taking it upon yourself to just give me something causes a lack of confidence that your loyal customers that are willing to understand. Things happen and can be out of our control however if you know you don't have all the needed ingredients then take that item off the menu temporarily until you have everything needed. Side note: you should maybe consult with individual that places orders for the ingredients as they clearly missed the mark. Usually, when I eat at a taquería, it has that authentic energy, but this felt like a cheap Americanized version of a Mexican restaurant. It felt like I was celebrating Cinco de Mayo with all the fanfare of skulls and Mexican colors, yet Harry Styles was playing in the background. The workers seemed very tired and just trying to make it through the day. The food was terrible. We ordered: The Quesadilla Pabellon: This was pretty good. The plantains made this dish. Everything else about it felt greasy and very poorly done. Street Corn in a Cup: This was dryer than the Sahara Desert. Usually, street corn is more saucy, yet this was as dry as they come. Birria Grilled Cheese: I originally thought this was going to be amazing; however, this dish was nothing special. It was very dry, and the flavor was nonexistent. It came with a side of fries, and those were really soggy. Churros: Man, let me tell you, these suckers were so bad they make Churro Mania feel authentic. Very simple, dry, and lacking any kind of flavor even with the cookies and cream. Overall: I wouldn't even call this Mexican food. I just didn't like the weird sauce that came with the chips and dip. Not to my liking. I also got the strawberry lemonade, they had it in my bad with a plastic bag tied over it... I have to admit I had high expectations for this place initially. Many people told me it was very good and had the best tacos around. Upon entering, they seemed busy but still quick- as you order on a kiosk and pay there. It was a Tuesday so I know Tuesdays can be busier for taco spots. I was disappointed to see they didn't have vegan mushroom tacos, although it was on their online menu... the only vegan or vegetarian option was bean tacos (but refried beans) which I love but from the photo didn't seem appetizing to be honest... I decided to order the taco salad with beans for me and my husband - my first mistake. The hard shell tasted bad, the inside of the bowl was like 80% rice (way too much in my opinion) and very little lettuce, veggies, cheese or flavor. The refried beans had no flavor and seemed watery.. not appetizing at all. I almost threw most of it away. I also tried the corn in a cup (which I heard great things about) and I felt it was lacking flavor. It also tasted old or like it needed something more to enhance the flavor. It had potential and honestly out of everything I tried, it was probably the best.. but still not enough to go to a taco place for just corn. I tried the "blueberry" lemonade which tasted like lemonade with blue food coloring inside (and that's what it looks like too). I've tried real fruit flavored lemonades and typically, they mash the fresh fruit and add the lemonade to it. This was not it. Maybe I went on a day where the staff was off or the food just didn't taste as good as usual but I don't plan on going back. It's over priced for what it is and the lack of vegetarian options (which many Mexican places have now) make it less likely for me to return. I hope they can find a way to make the food taste better. Orders are never ready at the time requested or even close for that matter. Which gives you a sense of how good the food is but If ordering online do yourself a a favor and add at least 15 mins extra to the pickup time. Found this hidden hole in the wall. We were waiting for across the steeet and decided to walk here. The place is small and cute but has outdoor tables which was pretty nice. What's interesting once you go inside is there's no cashier. You place the order using a iPad on the counter and later they driver the food to your table. We first ordered the pico de gallo and chips which was amazing!! Great flavor of cilantro and lime. The birria tacos were really good. It was 12.99 but we can only get one order of 3 tacos. You can easier eat more but we wanted to try more tacos. We also ordered the carne asada tacos. It was good with good chunks of beef. Very flavorful. I really want to come back to try the burrito. After the movies, my friend recommended we try a place called Talkin' Tacos. I've seen multiple locations for Talkin Tacos, but did not know there was one right in Miramar. When you walk in, you order your food through a kiosk machine, which is very easy and user-friendly. Then you pick anywhere you want to sit and then they will call your order number or name when your food is ready. I love the ambience of the restaurant, they had amazing music playing plus decor is neon light paired with Dia de los Muertos paintings. I ordered the steak al pastor tacos with chips with the punch as my drink. These tacos were so juicy and packed with steak. The tortilla chips were crunchy and salted perfectly. The punch was perfectly sweetened and paired well with the tacos. I cannot wait to come back to Talkin Tacos to try more of their menu items. read more
