We are local and have been many times to the casino but it was our first time staying at Talking Stick Resort in a room. It was a pleasant surprise how nice the rooms were! The hotel itself is nice, but my experience with security completely ruined our stay. We came down for the Hilary Duff concert over the Fourth of July weekend and mistakenly thought she was performing at the resort. Before heading out to get food, my sisters (who are 17) and I stopped to take a few pictures by the Fourth of July sign at the front of the casino. A tall, skinny white security guard with a ponytail approached us even though we weren't causing any problems. We were simply taking photos and walking toward the exit. He asked for my ID, examined it closely, and even bent it as if he didn't know what a legitimate ID looked like. He then asked if we were staying at the hotel. I told him yes and asked what the issue was. The only explanation he gave was that I "looked underage." My ID is real, and I was treated like I had done something wrong when I hadn't. The situation became even more uncomfortable when he and about six other security guards followed us all the way to the elevator. We were doing nothing more than taking pictures and leaving to get food, which we ended up not doing because of how uncomfortable the encounter made us feel. I've stayed at many casinos, and I've never been treated this way. Meanwhile, there were actual children running around the casino floor, yet security chose to single us out instead. I would recommend better training for your security staff, especially on how to verify IDs professionally and how to approach guests with respect. Charged us for drinks while playing. Took our order, brought the beers, set them down and said when you get a chance that's $16. Never been to a casino that charged me for drinks while I was playing...guess welcome to Arizona. Bad first impression on how they treat and value their guests. I've been to Talking Stick Casino three times, once for a concert, once for a comedy show, and once the week of my birthday. Out of the three casinos I've been to in Phoenix since I've moved here, Talking Stick is my favorite. First off, the casino is a sight o behold at night. It lights up in neon colors that is visible from the highway. It definitely makes an impression. Once you arrive, there's plenty of free parking. Let's talk about the concert first. The concert was held outside in the pool area. The set up was pretty awesome. I was impressed with the stage and the views from general admission. All in all, solid for an outdoor venue. And this is coming from the self-appointed king of concerts. The drinks are expensive, but that's unfortunately pretty much to be expected at an event. Sticking with events, the comedy show was held inside the casino. There were some tables and some seats at the bar which were all full when I arrived. We ended up standing during the comedy show. Not a biggie, but a little more seating would be nice. Last but not least, on my third visit, I explored the casino a lot more. While everyone is gambling, don't miss the culture center. Hear you'll find artwork, pottery, and more from the Pima Salt River tribe that owns the casino. There's additional artwork spread out throughout the casino. Overall, the casino is well maintained and laid out well. I'm also happy that they host concerts and comedy shows, too. Though make sure not to confuse Talking Stick Resort with Talking Stick Amphitheater (solely a concert venue). Two different locations that are far away from each other. Pro tip: If you stop by the month of your birthday, they will hook you up with a free birthday shirt and necklace. Pretty awesome! I haven't been here in years so a few things have changed but 1 constant is you'll have a good time! Came for a concert "Sister Sledge " I danced all night and sang my heart out. Truly a nice venue intimate crowd. Post the concert I did walk the casino saw a live band by the bar and stopped for a drink. I do wish they had more seating options or abother bar area not for gambling. Overall nice hotel, nicely located right off the free way and plenty of parking. read more

I'm more shocked with reading others reviews about their experiences as I want to return on my own terms. Perhaps because I was with the group my stay was five stars. *What type of room did you have?* I reserved a double bed room. Clean, modern and nice comfortable bed. Plentiful light with shudders that cannot black out. A small mini fridge, iron & board. Various types of outlets. *How was your stay?* I absolutely enjoyed my stay at the Talking Stick Resort. The property beautifully blends luxury with culture, the Native American mini-museum inside the resort really stood out and gave the whole place a sense of history. *Tell me about the pools, that's why I'm at the resort.* The pools are stunning! There are two massive resort pools (concerts happen here, and you can enjoy the music from the water or your cabana), plus elevated west-side pools and reserved casitas with air-conditioned lounges and mineral pools. No matter your mood, family time, relaxing alone with a book, or laughing with friends, there's a perfect spot. I was there a short time and did them all, lol. *What was your casino experience?* The casino was a highlight for me, especially since it's non-smoking (with outdoor smoking areas). I have been here a handful of times for the restaurant, casino, and just recently for the Country Down Under show. The show was delayed due to the previous running past schedule but they managed it well. Heavy security was present during the show and everyone had a great time. I'm commenting on the casino. The refreshment service consists only of servers who are sparse and infrequent. You are allowed to request service from the little courtesy screen at the slot machine. It would be quicker and easier if they had self service beverage areas. About the casino, they have mostly newer glitzy slot machines, and very few older style video slots which many people like. Table games seem adequate. Food service is just OK, not a lot. There are several drink bars serving mixed drinks. read more

My hubby planned a surprise overnight trip on Sat 12/20 for my birthday. Just the 2 of us. He booked a king room with a patio. The hotel, rooms, casino & restrooms are very clean. But hubby was disappointed with the room. Although it was nice, it wasn't anything special. It was modern, but lacked lighting. The patio was the best part. We had 180 degrees of Mountain View. He said the room was not what the pictures showed. There were no chairs. There was 1 desk chair. One of the drawers was broken in the bench at the bottom of the bed. The bed was really comfortable, but the pillows are small for a king bed. There were not anymore in the closet. There is sheets & a heavy comforter, but no blanket. The casino is confusing. We had a difficult time finding the cashiers once we were walking around. There are multiple kiosks to cash out. However, they do not dispense coins. Therefore, they ended up getting a few dollars from us. Been there, done that, don't need to do it again. read more

Generally a very nice experience. My fiancée and I enjoyed a stay at talking stick over the weekend. We really enjoyed the massage experience. The staff that the spa were nice enough to discount the price of the spa experience due to the steam room and jacuzzi being under construction and inoperable when I visited. The view from the spa patio is wonderful- highly recommend! We also enjoyed the pool at the resort. It is big enough for lots of people to enjoy without feeling overcrowded. I did find the hot tub appeared a bit dirty with lots of little leaves in the water. However, this is minor critique compared to the overall good experience. I would also say we were a bit lost when arriving to the hotel. We had to walk around a bit before we figured out where to go. It is my recommendation to improve signage when arriving from the 101 so hotel guests can figure out exactly where to go without driving around aimlessly. The room service was lightning fast, offsetting the somewhat expensive cost. The food was also delicious so I'm really not complaining... all things considered, it was a great stay! read more

Not a bad place to check out. Slots are ok. Huge poker room. Beer drafts are $9.00. The Tosh restaurant is pretty good. I liked my beef short ribs there. They have a nice patio there too. It's upstairs by players services where you get your players cards just up the stairs. The Cajun restaurant there is the bomb. I would definitely check that place out. The night we were there they had plumbing issues. Everyone had to walk an 1/8 of mile from the casino to the restrooms at the hotel. Massive chaos for sure. I decided to leave early that night. We like to stay here once in a while in Room 3348 to be specific, best corner room with the golf course/mountain view. The balconies are huge, rooms are good but they need to put a small chair in there not just a desk chair. Bathroom is great. Very quiet. Casino is always very busy but we had a very nice dinner up on the top floor at Orange Sky. Food and service were amazing! Best restaurant there. Check it out! Front desk staff on the other hand need to step it up, not friendly whatsoever and they told us our room wasn't ready and then we waited til almost 4 and went to check back and it was finally ready but no one let us know. We shouldn't have had to wait that long for it. Overall I would come back but only during the week nights. read more

When you first walk into the room, it looks really nice. It's a nice layout and our room had a nice view of the mountains. However, once you try to go to bed, the bed itself is not very comfortable. The receptionist was great, she was very friendly and proffesional, after that the wheels fell off. The staff on the casino floor were ambivalent at best. The restaurant was even worse, we were seated and it took 15 minutes to get water and a menu and even longer for a server to come to our table. Well, the stay didn't really get any batter or worst. To start with the positive. The pool was nice and my visit to the spa was wonderful.(as far as the staff and services, see negative below). I had a pedicure and facial, both were great treatments and all the staff was friendly. The negative, over all the hotel just wasn't clean, someone dropped a goldfish cracker in the elevated and it remained there for at least 10 hours. This is not particularly gross as it was on the floor but shows they didn't not have staff regularly cleaning. Similar observation were made throughout the hotel. But the grossest was there were tons of dead and a couple live bugs in the woman's locker room of the spa(see photos below). It made it hard to enjoy the spa know they just had dead bugs chilling on the floor, if that's what you could see imagine what you couldn't. Overall, for the price(we did the summer vacation deal) it's not terrible but not anything I would pay their regular price. Just go in know you get what you pay for and read all the reviews before landing on this resort since there are many to pick from in the area. read more

This is an amazing resort. Thoroughly enjoyed my stay. This resort has a casino, multiple restaurants and pools, golf course and a gift shop. During my stay there were two concerts so the main pool was closed but I definitely enjoyed the west pool. The pool has a bar where you can purchase drinks and food. Resort was secure and elevators to the rooms have security to check keys at all times before you can access the elevators. There are free shuttles that will take you to nearby areas of the staff is available. The rooms are very clean and room service will clean everyday. The resort provides house shoes. You can also get $25 free play which can be used at the casino. The resort has a live band and dj on certain nights. The resort is very well kept and all the staff were great. I recommend this resort. Service was impeccable. No need to request for your room to be cleaned. Housekeeping visits every morning. The casino is smokefree. I wish this could be a positive review, but unfortunately it isn't. When we arrived at check-in, we were informed we would be texted when our room was ready. Check in is at 4, we still hadn't heard anything at 5. The front desk stated they texted, but we never received it. Later, we were in bed falling asleep when the fire alarm went off evacuating multiple floors of the hotel. The casino was not evacuated or impacted in any way. I'm grateful I changed out of my pajamas before heading downstairs as we were out of our room for an extensive amount of time and being in a casino in my pajamas would have been quite uncomfortable. When I spoke with a staff member, he informed me that this happens often. I truly feel people should be refunded for this inconvenience. If you actually want sleep and a hotel that cares about your experience, stay elsewhere. read more

What a wonderful day we all had! The deluxe cabana was air conditioned, with a big couch and chair, a fridge fully stocked with water, a ton of extra towels and even a safe. The best part was a bathroom with shower: no running off to the restroom inside and the option of showering was a plus! Tasha took care of us all day with drinks, food and her lovely personality. We shared a platter of wings that I thought were the best I'd eaten in ages. Perfectly browned and very deliciously crispy, with several choices of dips. Also had sweet potato waffle fries and yummy fried onion rings. A couple plates of onion rings actually ....and two fruit tarts to share, with custard and fresh fruit, which is one of my favorite desserts since childhood. I had the lobster roll which was good, yes, but from the menu description I expected it to be lobster, melted butter, and lemon; instead it was more lobster salad with green salad strips and other ingredients in a roll was kinda 'meh' for me. The cabana next to us wasn't reserved so we had the smaller pool to use as well; I like being in the sun but my friends were more shade people so that worked out very well! Tasha was alway coming to see if we needed any more drinks or food and we really appreciated her being around and making the pool day even better. There weren't many people at the pool -and no screaming children - allowing for a fun and relaxing day out! The walk through the Casino was nice too, we had to get our wristbands from the Ki Gift Shop and ended up walking all around the floor instead of veering left right away, but it was still worth checking out the tables and what was happening at the machines. This was my first time at the pool, I'd been to the Casino before to gamble, but if we plan another PoolParty day I definitely will put Talking Stick up to have it there. One good thing I can say, our room is clean. My gripe is how filthy the pool area is. Cigarette butts along the pool area, chairs around the pool have had bird poop on them since Thursday when we got here. Hunks of cement left over from where they've done some reconstruction of the fence. Pool floor has dirt in it, cups from irresponsible guests the night before. Not enough umbrellas for the 3 pools, people are arguing about them. Old gum stuck to the cool decking around the pool. This will be our last year coming here as this place is going downhill every year. They are close to rock bottom. So disappointed. read more

The goods, rooms were clean, beds comfy, room & balcony are large, has lots of options for food, free self parking or valet just tips, lots of amenities. Meh; didn't receive my Expedia food credit. We came in early exhausted from travel, was charged for early check in, at 1:30pm. Not close to anything you have to drive. Overall it was ok, didn't use casino or golf course. Stayed here over the holidays and had a great experience. The room was spacious, clean, and had a nice view. Check-in was smooth, and the location is super convenient, close to Topgolf, food spots, and shopping. Room service was solid, and the $25 beverage credit was a nice perk even though I didn't use it. Just a couple of small things to note: Apple Pay wasn't accepted for incidentals, and the bathroom had a sliding door with no fan, so a bit less privacy. Wanted to get away a couple days, watch World cup and my bucket list of entering a poker tournament. Didnt know I had to carry all my luggage through the middle of casino. The signage sucks need a map. Every employee I asked questions just told me to go talk to someone else. Room was freezing I could not turn up temp. No blankets sheets only had to sleep in my clothes. Called lobby Could not hear or understand lady. Hung up and went to bed. woke up at 5:00am by sunlight ( I need total darkness to sleep) No curtains only large wooden shutters that let all the light in no matter how tight you closed them. Also no world cup match because of limited tv channels, mostly old reruns and movies I never heard of. I cancelled my next reservation and left . Will never book a room here again . This place is so cool! Everyone knows about it. I don't even generally like casinos much, but had a really fun time here. There are several bars in the area with live music, and that's a fun place to hang out and get a drink. Then there's a fancy poker room where only the best players are allowed to go apparently!! So we watched that from afar lol. Then also a sports betting area, where people are sitting around watching sports as they watch for their bets to come to fruition, which is a pretty chill way to bet it seemed. Of course they also have blackjack, roulette, and slot machines (which was the only thing I tried lol). Lots of people, quite crowded, and popular avenue for bachelor parties too. The one drawback I would say is just how huge the place is, so it takes a while to get to different bars or areas and can be confusing and bit of a walk from parking. read more
