I like Tallys, although last visit was not good. I had the smoked salmon Benedict. Not Good. English muffin was bland starchy and dry like a biscuit. Hash browns were lifeless, dry, and cold. $24 bucks not well spent plus $5 coffee and 3.5% wage surcharge. hmmmm Service was good. Nice ambiance. We are visiting Rapid City on vacation with our family of 9. We travel together a couple of times a year and dine out often. We had reservations at 7 pm tonight and it was the worst dining experience we have ever had. We waited for 30+ minutes before our server came to get our drink order. We ordered dinner when we ordered drinks as we didn't want to wait longer to do so. Bread came at 8 pm. Shortly after that, the server informed me that the entree I had ordered was sold out, almost an hour after placing the order. An hour and 35 minutes after being seated, still no food. We decided to leave, spoke to the manager who said the food would be out in 5 minutes. There were multiple issues with the food. The salads were wilted and terrible. One of the steaks was raw and was sent back and the accompanying corn fritters were charred and black. The salmon special was loaded with salt and the accompanying side was inedible. We were charged full price for the food and after we complained the manager did discount our bill. Unfortunately, I think this restaurant is trying to provide an elevated dining experience that they cannot deliver upon. read more

We are in town for a few days on a cross country trip. Tally's was recommended to us by a friend and we stopped in for a Monday night dinner. We were served by our waitress Sam, who gave us one of the best dining experiences we've had all year. We got the pork belly with the "condensed pear" appetizer...incredible. I got the Bison Marsala which was probably one of the most unique pasta dishes I have ever gotten in a restaurant. If you're in the mood for a hearty plate of pasta, don't pass it up. I had the bagel sandwich and subbed out the egg for tomato and spinach, absolutely delicious. Server offered me a coffee to go, which I happily accepted. It was a 16oz coffee! Awesome. My husband's eggs Bennie were reported to be very tasty. On to dinner.... Fine ambiance, kind of amazing this place can be both breakfast and nice dinner. Again the server was very friendly. Entrees were OK. My husband had the bison and it was pretty over done.. he ordered med rare and it came as med well. Not worth sending back. Kinda chewy but that just might be bison. I had the bolognese. Pasta was homemade and delicious. Sauce was tangy, dark red, mealy meat. Could be difference between my east coast taste buds and South Dakota fare but I wasn't a big fan. Last day of a two week vacay with a tour group. Skipped the provided bus to the airport so we could sleep in and depart at our own pace. Tally's is across the street from our hotel (the Alex Johnson) so we had breakfast there. Everything was great. Noah was our server and he was friendly and attentive without being intrusive. We had a great time here celebrating a trip through South Dakota with friends!!! Felt very lucky I found a spot that would cook up a dinner entree for a vegan. They actually had a listed vegan option (pasta dish) on their main menu, but I was told when I ordered it that it was no longer offered. I wish I could remember our server's name because he deserves so much credit for making our breakfast an enjoyable experience which can be hard with a 5 year old and 2 year old. We ordered the Lox plate, breakfast burrito and 2 Special Breakfasts. Everything was delicious as was their house coffee. Traveling through Rapid City we found this spot while walking around downtown. It is very deceiving from the outside, it just looks like a small diner. However, once inside and Seeing the food it all changes. We had to sit at the large table for multiple guests because they were booked solid. It was a fun experience getting to talk to 2 other couples. I started with The Hipster salad which was so unique and incredible flavors. This was also large enough for a meal. I then had the Classic Carbonara and it was very good. The seasoning and flavors were excellent. For dessert we had four flavors of ice cream that was also good. Service was excellent! read more

When cars are parked on the street, you cannot see the name of the restaurant. I sat at the bar for breakfast. They have a wonderful menu to please any palate. The service was outstanding. First, their coffee is great. I'm not a fan of traditional breakfast blends, and their coffee is more like... Peet's Cafe Domingo. Real good! The star was my breakfast, though. They were some of the best crepes we've ever had. The eggs Benedict was perfect. The ham was fried and had some crisp to it which made it just perfect. Their hollandaise sauce was delicious!!!
