You can help yourself to popcorn at the popcorn machine--it is freshly made and tastes great. My husband had wings and onion rings for lunch. His wings were plump and juicy --his words. The onion rings were homemade and tasty. I opted to dine on a build your own burger with Swiss cheese, fried onions and mushrooms with a side of fries. My burger was fantastic! I appreciate that it came with lettuce and tomato on the side and I promptly placed it on my burger. The fries were seasoned. I am more of a plain Jane when it comes to French fries, I should have opted for the potato chips. Ravenswood serves really good pub food and has a friendly staff.

When we were ready to waitress was not surprised we did not want a box - she never asked any questions about the pizza. I can only take it as it is if this is common occurrence there. Also I think the pizza was made from frozen shell not fresh dough - adding to lack of quality. I have been going to this restaurant for over 50 years - from Roma thru all Ravenswood owners - new owners have a lot to learn on how to keep older patrons wanting to come back

"Taco Tuesday" "prime Rib night" Cons: Menu said the entrees came with bread service, but no bread was received. I was looking forward to the bread, but felt uncomfortable outright asking because the server was being so kind and trying their best. Staffing: It was not too busy, as there were around 5 tables seated and 6 people at the bar. Service speed was slow, but there was good reason for this as they're down one staff member. It was unclear if the kitchen was cranking out room service orders for the Hilton as well since I went on the day of the Belmont. Ambiance: There is a lovely photo-op wall with a neon sign and disco like backdrop! Each table has flowers and a candle and the tables are sturdy. Taste: Enjoyed the food that I ordered and felt the portions were appropriate and well portioned for the pricing. My server, Bruno, he assisted me with a new menu item that they just placed on the menu, the Lemon Chicken. It was tart and the chicken skin was crisp. All in all, good experience - it took considerably longer than I had expected, but I noted regulars while I was there as well.

The bartenders are great for the most part. You can't not have a good time with Jackie and Shiela. Some friends had recently discovered Pam's and suggested it would be a great place for us to meet…read morewith them some evening. After all, it just so happens to be our closest neighborhood watering hole. We had been there once before, maybe about 20 years ago and never returned. It's not that there was any problem with that first visit, it just didn't seem to offer something that called out for us to return sooner. Since it seemed like a second visit probably was in order, off we went on a Friday evening to reacquaint ourselves with Pam's. The place was almost filled, both at the bar and the tables. Live music was being performed by a guitar-playing singer who was mostly ignored by the crowd. The three remaining tables that were available were all in front of the performer and his amplified equipment. We thought the table furthest from the speakers would be inappropriate for the two of us to occupy since it could easily seat eight, so we chose the next furthest table from the speakers, a four-top. Yes, the music was loud but we were still able to carry on a conversation. There were several TVs scattered around the walls, but it appeared there was no real interest by the 40+year-old customers in either the Yankee/Red Sox game or The O'Reilly Factor. While there appeared to be only two ladies covering both the bar and the tables, we were acknowledged in less than five minutes, informed of the beers on tap, the most exotic being two Sam Adams brews, and provided with menus. Our two pints of Sam's Summer Ale ($4.25 each) arrived quickly and we placed our order for Loaded Nachos ($11.95) and a Burger with cheese and an upgrade to Sweet Potato Fries ($10.50). The food was delivered to our table in a reasonably prompt fashion. The Nachos had very little flavor, in spite of the melted cheese, diced peppers, tomatoes, onions, chile, and jalapeno slices. The chips were typically salty and the sides of salsa and sour cream did nothing to add flavor. The half-pound burger was served as requested, medium-rare, and had a reasonable char flavor on the outside, but the beef itself had no noticeable flavor. It lacked juiciness for this degree of rareness, but benefited from the melted cheddar cheese on top. The roll was soft and fresh, and the sweet potato fries were typical frozen fries and only warm when they arrived on the table. By comparison, an order of regular French Fries left in error at our table were nice and hot. A small plastic container of nondescript macaroni salad was also served as a side to the burger. Service was friendly and efficient considering the number of customers per server. The performer wished us a "good-night" as we departed. If our friends get around to deciding on a night to meet them there, we'll likely join them for a drink and maybe try something else on the menu. Otherwise, it may be another 20 years before we return.

If you've never been here before, I highly recommend trying two items in particular: 1. Beer cheese dip 2. BBQ (Or any other) mac & cheese I should note that the BBQ mac & cheese (previously the Memphis BBQ Mac) recipe has changed over the years, so this review may not hold forever. That said, mac & cheese in general has been the most reliable item on the menu for me. I've tried plenty of other dishes here over time -- fish & chips, burgers, fish and chicken tacos, and nearly every mac & cheese variation -- but I'll stick to reviewing what we ordered on this visit. This time around, my wife ordered the fish and chips, and I ordered the BBQ mac & cheese. The mac & cheese was delicious, and the BBQ sauce added a nice sweetness that paired really well with the pulled pork. The fish and chips were also very good. The fries were a bit soggy, but since we ordered to-go and they had to survive the drive home, I won't knock them for that. Portion sizes here are fantastic and easily justify the price. I love this spot -- it's a dependable comfort food destination for me. The staff are always helpful and knowledgeable, especially when it comes to beer recommendations. The building itself is gorgeous and massive, giving the space an impressive sense of scale while you enjoy your meal.

Translucent fabric above the deck helps to diffuse the strong sunlight. While the draft beers available are not likely to attract those interested mostly in craft beers, the variety offered should be sufficient to accommodate those looking for a good brew to pair with the food they order. And we're talking about homemade pub food. While my companions chose sodas to go with their burgers, I decided on a Fiddlehead IPA ($5.50). My wife ordered the Cheddar & Bacon Burger (19 klams) and two of us ordered the Smokehouse Burger (19 klams). All burgers are half-pound, hand-crafted, freshly ground beef served with lettuce, tomato, and onion on a grilled brioche roll. They are also accompanied by fresh-cut fries and pineapple slaw. We all ordered our burgers medium-rare, and the kitchen complied. While the Cheddar & Bacon Burger is self-explanatory, the Smokehouse Burger includes a brown sugar BBQ sauce, cheddar cheese, applewood smoked bacon and a homemade onion ring. The bacon on all our burgers was thick, crispy, and very tasty. The side of pineapple slaw was fresh and flavorful, the fries were better than average, and the rolls were soft and tasty. There are a number of other items on their menu that look inviting. I unfortunately, only took a photo of one side of the menu, but that should be enough to make you want to check them out. They also offer specials each night. Did I mention the complimentary bowl of popcorn?
