We came here on a rainy weekday hoping to avoid the crowds. It's a small shop, so it can get crowded quickly, especially if you have a big group. We got the potato croquette, curry ramen, and chasyu don. The potato croquette was nice and light and very flavorful. The curry ramen is also pretty light- I expected the normal thick kind of japanese curry, but this feels more like a curry mixed with soup broth. It's alright, nothing mind blowing. The chasyu don was okay as well- the chasyu is soft and the scallions help with an otherwise plain bowl of rice and pickled ginger. Would we come again? Ehh, the price is good for Bell Blvd but my mouth was not blown away. Maybe I'll consider it again on another rainy day when there aren't the usual big crowds/long wait. read more

Went to the upstairs location and this one doesn't disappoint! Love that this small place is like a little hideout, it's intimate covered in Japanese anime posters. I loved all the food! For some reason the app won't let me upload my picture of the skewers. The yellow fin was a nice flaky fish, well cooked. I didn't have the octopus but I was told it was flavorful. As for the skewers, I ordered the beef with enoki - it was ok! A bit chewy but flavorful. The chicken with scallions was delicious. My absolute favorite was the shitake mushrooms. I love the food in this establishment. I went to several of their location. The locations are all named Tamashii but with a different color at the end. This is the WORSE location of them all. I usually get the BUTA ramen, for some reason the heard something else and gave me a different dish. It felt like the waitress was going to go back and forth with me but because I sounded confident, she just re-ordered the correct dish. They did tell that I can keep that dish and I told her honestly I don't want it. I really just want my ramen and I can have to go. She said "No, I would have to eat here" and I hate wasting food especially since there are people starving. I felt obligated to eat. Another ramen spot on bell to add to your list! My boyfriend and I went to tamashii to warm our souls and we got exactly that! We ordered the Ebi potato and ika Karaage for our tapas which were both delish! Not too heavy handed on the batter and tasted good with the sauces provided. I got the tamashii ramen and my boyfriend got the miso ramen. Both broths had a deep flavor and made you go ahh~ after taking your first sip. Reply to the owner - I understand that it was just a suggested tips amount/not enforced, but how many people would calculate the exact 18% and we would just blindly give according to the receipt. Bell Blvd. really is becoming a hub for ramen. I've been to the Astoria location before and it was quite good. The Bayside location is no different. The decor is fun - wood panels with a ton of anime figurines (mostly One Piece) to go with a pretty extensive menu. The ramen menu has a lot to offer - tonkotsu, miso, tsukemen, as well as cold ramen to boot. The appetizers were good (we got edamame and fried squid) but their ramen was the star. The cold ramen was perfect - noodles were cooked just right and the sauce was well balanced and refreshing. Shoyu tsukemen was also excellent - great broth to dip their fat noodles. Came here for a ladies lunch and had to try the ramen. Classic miso ramen for me and my friend had the Buta Ramen. Both of them had a distinctive broth and was very good. Note about the broth in the Buta Ramen, it was very rich and flavorful - one of the favorites among the lunch crowd that day. We started our lunch with the fried oysters and those were fantastic. Fried but not greasy and you could taste the juicy oysters. Subtle and satisfying. The sauce it came with was also very good. I'd definitely get this dish again. Seating was a little tight given the tables are so close together. But this was meant to be a quick lunch bite not a long seating so it was fine. It was definitely packed right at 12:30pm on a Friday but the crowd moves fast. I missed seeing the specials posted by the door as I was anxious to get seated. I also noticed there were kiosks in the front to order if you don't order directly with the staff. Solid spot, I shall return! There are so many ramen spots in Bell but if I had to choose, I'd come here! The prices are on the more reasonable side and the waitresses were kind. Interior was super cute too (if you're a One Piece fan, huge rec to visit). I got their Tamashii Ramen and it wasn't bad! Will get your ramen fix with this. When I drove along Bell Blvd, I thought this new ramen place is going to get killed by the new flashy Kyuramen down a few blocks. I'm happy to say I'm wrong bc I'd go to Tamashii Ramen over Kyuramen every time. The agedashi tofu is crisp and broth is great. Had to give this place a 2nd try. Have to say the 2nd time around was much better then the first. Again I have ordered a bunch of dishes just so I can't give it all a good try. First I must say the pork bun was so delicious, nice and tender and almost didn't have to chew. The flavor was right and the sauce was perfect. I could have had two more. The Japanese sausage was done a little different where they sliced it throughout and had some grilled onions on top with some jalapeño peppers on the side, this gave it that extra flavor and a nice little kick. I really liked the agadashi tofu, a nice big piece super soft and done really well. The potato croquettes was lightly fried and soft in the middle. It was good. Gyoza is more or less about the same in most places, but good. I have tried a bunch of the ramens as well. So far each had good flavor and the broth has been tasty for each. Not overly salty and ramen broth will alway be on the salty side. Last time the egg was not great and over cooked, today it was very good. Serve I have to say both times have been really good and speedy. I really like the decor of the place and atmosphere is nice. I also like how you can see the kitchen depending on where you are seated. Now on a bad note I will have to say two things I don't think I would ever get again will be the karage chicken and the gyu Don. Two of some of my favorite things. Everytime I arrive in Japan, first thing I would get is the Gyu Don, sorry but it is not done very well. The rice is very dry and the beef used is not the normal beef or the flavor. This I feel can use much improvement. The Karage Chicken also seem like over done harder pieces of chicken. Both time pretty dry and hard to chew. Will not be ordering again. We have been taking classes near this ramen place for almost two years, but we have never been in this restaurant until last Friday. This first visit surprised us in a good way and it definitely would bring us back very soon. The waitress was very friendly and attentive. The ramen came very quickly after we placed our orders. The miso soup based was thick as expected, but not salty at all. The tenderness of the ramen was about right! The meat was very soft and tasty. I ordered an additional ramen in a separate bowl for my 5 years old for just $3 and The additional ramen was relatively big portion. The space is really small but once we were seated 3 other tables left at the same time so a lot of people got seated at once. I'm a fan of the Miso Ramen and kurobuta sausage here. The enjoyed their tashii ramen...it was nice and light and the broth was full of flavor. The friends had the Miso Ramen and Kara miso ramen...these noodles had more bite to them and the broth is heavier...but still full of flavor. Izakaya - An absolute hidden GEM. This was absolutely my favorite stop during my whole trip to NYC. It even beat out the Prince Pizza (the BEST pizza anywhere!) and the Naruto Ramen Bar that I'd had earlier that weekend. The staff was so kind and helpful. The chef is fantastic! Seriously, if you happen to pass by the bayside/queens area, you've GOT to stop in! To start, I got the Takoyaki (Yum! ), then ordered the Grilled Salmon. I'll be honest when I tell you: I was not expecting a full salad, miso soup, rice and the salmon. I was SO full. And if you like sweet, definitely try putting some of the ground ginger into to soy sauce. It changed EVERYTHING. This was the best asian cuisine I've had in a very long time. Very authentic. And the mochi was a perfect end to a wonderful meal. This is the kind of food that refreshes and reinvigorates you. If you get the chance, stop in. It'll be the door on the left, up the stairs.
