Pad thai lunch combo with fresh roll and thai iced tea
    Sussy V.

Had the pad kee mao combo, which was a pretty good deal with an appetizer eggrolls and a thai tea. Came back the next day to try the pad thai combo with spring rolls and thai tea and it did not disappoint!

I don't know what it was with Alameda, we went to 3 restaurant (Lao & Thai) all understaff/busy (in a rush) but this place was the last resort & I was so hungry. The guy who was working here just seem like he was rushing us, yes we did come 8 PM (they close at 9) he gave us until 8:30 PM to order, but as I asked him about questions on items on the menu, dude straight up ignored it bc of him being busy but it was only 2 tables when I walked in... but anyways, the quality of the food was meh, no need to say what was ok & what need improvement they all did. I was disappointed that the beef Thai soup wasn't even Thai boat noodles bc... I wanted beef blood in mines. I'm not coming back here, to the server... pls work on your customer service & learn how to apologize how busy you are so we know & respect your time and attention. This place is so small as well & if you go on a hot day, you'll feel like you're in Thailand

Monkey Thai has two locations. This location is on the West End of Alameda and their other location is on the East End at South Shore Center. I like going to Monkey Thai for their lunch specials. With their lunch specials, you can select an appetizer with your rice and entree. I prefer the West End location since their lunch special is around $5 cheaper than the South Shore Center. They have their own parking lot, so parking is not an issue. I ordered the green curry with brown rice and selected the fresh spring roll as my appetizer from the lunch special menu. The green curry was flavorful and spicy when I asked them to make it spicy. At some places, you ask for spicy, and it's not, which is a letdown. The only disappointing thing about my meal is the fresh spring roll. I was expecting something flavorful, like Vietnamese spring rolls. These rolls taste bland, and all you taste is lettuce and noodles. The dipping sauce is Thai-style peanut sauce, unlike Vietnamese peanut sauce, which has hoisin sauce. Thai-style peanut sauce belongs on chicken satay skewers and not with fresh spring rolls.

    Drunken Noodles (Pad Kee Mao)

I used to love the food here, even when they initially changed ownership/name from Monkey Thai to Tamee Thai. But the last few times I've been here, they made changes to my favorite dish Pad Kee Mow (drunken noodles). The flavor is a little different but the most important thing is that they changed the type of noodle they use! It's still a "flat wide" noodle but NOT the very wide noodles as before and in old pics on here. I do love the option to make a combination meal and I'll still come here for the convenience. The food is still good, just not outstanding as it was before.

I love this place, it went through a rebrand but flavor is just as tasty! We pulled up at 8:30 so we ordered to go instead of eating in. We got plenty of food for 80$ and it was quick, it was done within 15-20min. It super chill and if you ever want to eat in come before 8:00pm. They still have to clean up

I came here with my friends after visiting USS Hornet due to ratings and convenience. It's a cute little establishment on the corner at the light. 3 of us ordered the Monkey combo which includes an appetizer, entree, rice (for non noodle dishes), and a drink. The last dish was BBQ beef. We were all very happy with our choices and recommend it! Service was swift on a Thursday evening and it was not crowded at all.

Theses are the utensils that the gentleman felt the need to tell me rudely that I was taken too much of.

My wife ordered Chicke w/ Basil and Rice, Chicken Wings, and Drunken Noodles. On my way out I went to the to-go station to grab some items. And after I had grabbed some items, the gentleman who was working at 2.45pm. Loudly and rudely chastized me and claimed that I was only allowed to take "enough items for the food" and that I had "already taken too many items." There was about 15 people in the dining area and I was utterly embarrassed. I grabbed 4 pairs of chopsticks, 2 spoons, 2 forks, and 9 packets of soy sauce for a family of 4. And this gentleman had no clue how many people I was grabbing items for. And that's not the point. People that spend money in an establishment don't expect to be disrespected after they spend money in your establishment. And a box of utensils (chopsticks, forks, spoons)cost $30. Like, are we for real? I will not spend another dime at this place and will strongly encourage my friends and family to take their patronage to one of the many other Thai restaraunts in the area. Whoever that guy was, he could definitely benefit from some basic customer service training.

Amazing food, I had the padkee mao Full of flavors, really delicious. Can't wait to try other menu items next time. Also the service was fast.

I came here right before they closed for lunch on a Saturday and we were able to quickly eat and go. I ordered the lunch special - basil fried rice with a spring roll and Thai iced tea. My husband ordered the bbq beef entree and our friend ordered the Thai fried rice. It was the perfect meal after we gymed. The food was not salty and the vegetables cooked were fresh. My husband's bbq beef could have been more tender as we gotten the dish at the south shore restaurant before. The service was friendly and quick. The ambiance is small and neat.

Tofu Fresh Roll. Maybe their other food options are more robust than my lettuce/ carrot spring roll.

Can I get some tofu in my tofu fresh roll please? Ordered this to-go and sadly disappointed in my lettuce and carrot spring roll. Maybe their other food options are better.

Fast and reliable take out. I come here multiple times a month. Just ordered my usual pad see ew and green curry and it was ready in 15 minutes. The staff is fast and very nice.

I got the Tom yum soup with seafood and it was so good. It had big pieces of scallop, breaded fish, shrimp, and mussels. It had plenty of herbs, garnishes, and seasonings too which made it incredibly fragrant and flavorful. When you order this, keep in mind it doesn't come with rice so you have to pay extra for that. This portion is huge enough for two people too. The workers here were very friendly and the restaurant itself is very clean. There is a lot of parking close by so that's one thing you won't have to worry about.

Do you have vegan options do you have? No dairy, fish sauce, or oyster sauce?

Are there any items that can be modified gluten free?

Aside from Soy Sauce, I don't now any items on their menu that contain gluten. If you are very sensitive to gluten, can't eat soy sauce, you might ask them to hold it. Hope that helps.…

We ordered the Tom Kha, Nam Khao, Fried Clear Rice Paper Roll Wraps, Pineapple Khao Pad, and Geng Ka Ree. Everything was fabulous! Lots of great flavors and spices. The portion sizes were spot on. Do you like the funk?…read more Our server explained to us the Lao version is more funky and fermented, while the Thai version is more mellow. We went with the Lao version. The Thai iced coffee was delicious and strong! As it should be. It did give me the jitters though because I'm a weak sauce. We were a party of ten and I was able to make rezzies via phone for a Friday evening at 6:30pm no problem about a week beforehand. The kiddos ordered à la carte, and five of us adults had the following: - BMV ultimate papaya platter with Lao sausage, angel wings and crispy pork. Crispy pork was legit, papaya salad definitely had that extra funk. The angel wings were crispy and meaty and my friends loved the Lao sausage. One even said "it's like tom yum soup in a sausage". It was very lemongrass forward which is not my thing, but that's my problem. I feel we could have ordered à la carte and that would have been a better deal than $75 for the platter. Some of it was fluff like the cabbage, rice and pork rinds. - Khao soy soup: Fiancé thought it would be creamy and coconut-y like the Thai version but it wasn't. I did enjoy the flat noodles but they were all stuck together. - Pia pla ka pow (fish with basil): Good one. The fish was moist and flavorful. The veggies were al dente and delicious too. - Sakoo: Unique! I enjoyed the chewy mochi exterior and the savory ground pork filling. It needed a sauce. I just used the chili sauce that was on the party platter. - Laab Gai: This fell flat for me. I'm not a huge fan of organs though. - Nam khao fried rice: One of our favorites! The crispy pieces really made this dish. Would definitely order this again. - Mango sticky rice: Served warm. Very sweet mango! - Purple rice with egg custard: Also served warm. This was ok. - Side of rice: HUGE serving! Unfortunately it was clumpy and hard, which means old. Street parking only. Get the nam khao and mango sticky rice!

The restaurant is warm and inviting with some simple decorations and touches of color. We arrived shortly after opening time and were the first ones dining in, but a steady stream of customers started coming in gradually. The brunch menu has a good amount of sweet and savory items, although the prices for certain items were a bit steep. They have multiple types of coffee and tea drinks available. I opted to order an iced lavender latte, which was quite tasty and did not have an overpowering flavor of lavender and the sweetness was just right. I also ordered the creme brûlée toast, which was a smaller portion, with one piece of brioche toast and had a nice texture and a delicious vanilla custard topping with fresh fruit. We also had a side of fruit, which seemed a bit lackluster for the $9 price. They included a small plate of sliced apple and oranges, some blueberries and cherries and 1-2 strawberries sliced thinly. Food was pretty good, but I am curious about how the savory egg dishes taste. Service was friendly and attentive, as we had to flag down a staff member for a few different items more than once. They responded promptly and were kind. However, with 2 iced drinks, 2 small-ish entrees, and a side of fruit, the total with tax was just under $60 before tip. I think Peak could be a solid brunch spot with some minimal improvements. Overall, I'd recommend trying out Peak if you're in the area.
