Amazing meal! Tried a good variety of dishes and favs include the beef skewers and stuffed chicken wings. Everything was incredibly flavorful and large portions for sharing.

I came through to this spot and mainly ordered dishes that leaned more toward Thai-popularized flavors, but they honestly did not disappoint and made me want to come back to try their more traditional Cambodian dishes too. The space is huge and I can imagine it getting busy during weekend lunch or dinner. On a Tuesday night I easily landed a table for one. The vibe was chill and the service was really warm and attentive to everyone. I got the cha kathiw, which reminded me a bit of pad Thai in format, and a papaya salad. Both had great flavor and brought their own Cambodian twist, which I really appreciated. The cha kathiw was saucier with big, juicy chicken pieces, and the papaya salad was super crunchy with the same tender chicken throughout. I wish I had asked for both to be made spicy from the start or that they had checked on spice level. I ended up asking for chili oil and it was SO GOOD. It tasted house-made, really fragrant, and very spicy. I added a lot to each dish and it elevated everything to five stars for me. Overall, this was a great first impression and I'm excited to come back and try their more popular Cambodian dishes.

We came right around noon on a Saturday and was seated right away. It got packed afterwards! I got an iced coffee and my mom accidentally spilled it lol staff noticed right away and got me a wet towel so I can clean myself off. Then they mopped up the spill. They made me another coffee. So sweet of them. Very kind staff. And super patient when taking my order because I was so indecisive lolol The noodle we got was like pad thai. I liked it and appreciated temperature wise - it was super hot. The chicken was a recommendation by the waitress. It was so good! Tender and delicious. The sweet old lady besides us offered to let us try the eggplant. It looked like chopped up eggplant with some meat (?). It was not my favorite but she says it tastes good with rice and the waitress dod say it is popular. I'd be down to try it next time. I saw the salads and wanted to order it but was full lol. Portions are a good size and definitely worth the money in my opinion. Loved it here!

Was able to be seated right away on Friday evening around 6:30pm for a party of two. Service was standard - nothing to complain about. It was fairly quiet inside, as the restaurant wasn't too big and the parties inside were not loud. We ordered the beef skewer, papaya salad (no spicy), and the basil fried rice. The beef skewer is a must get! Charred very well but still soft. It came with a side of their house sauce (seemed like fish sauce) and paired well. As for the salad and the fried rice, they were good but missing some flavor. Perhaps it was because the salad was ordered with no spice. For both dishes, we ordered chicken as the protein. The chicken seemed like it was boiled and was very white / had no flavor. I wish it was somehow grilled like the beef skewer, as it would enhance the overall flavor of the dishes. The portion sizes were quite large though! I think this location has potential, but just may have to order the right dishes.

I love southeast asian cuisine and Cambodian food is no exception to that! There are similar dishes to Thai and Vietnamese and also Filipino - to Burmese as well! The duck curry didn't miss a beat, full of flavor - very lemon grass herbaceous profiles that stick out - something to be enjoyed with rice. The Cha Kathiw is very similar to pad thai noodles - nothing too special here... and then there's nuom om beng - which is similar to Vietnamese banh xeo - this was very tasty and was the dish we finished first. Service was okay, they were busy... it's a small establishment that can accommodate about 50 folks max... no loud music or anything and an old school written list for whomever is waiting to be seated. The next visit we have we are gonna have to try the Prahok Katis. We definitely enjoyed the meal... but I couldn't give the full five stars because the duck curry was quite fibrous from the lemon grass and sort of wish they ran the broth and curry through a shinwa to smooth it up... and then the cha kathiw needed a little bit more flavor to it... as far as service - it was definitely busy for a Friday night but there were moments we felt like the table next to us was serviced quicker (order taken first even though we were seated 5 minutes earlier) ... and they were a specific demographic that made us feel like 2nd class citizens sometimes (like when they got the same dish first...) ... so... that part was a bit... not fun - but hey! Maybe we were overthinking it? ((Shoulder shrug)) all in all - still a nice community vibe in the restaurant and food was good... so still wanna come back and try different items.

Amazing place after we went windsurfing in Alameda! Good: - Loved the papaya salad - super fresh and also the spice added a lot - Singapore noodles had a huge portion size - had good curry sauce but a tad too plain - The chicken boneless eggroll dish was so unique! I don't think I could have finished it though since it was huge - Fried banana and sesame ice cream was so memorable, definitely get it - The service was so fast, and they checked in so often - Cute spot for a date day! Loved how clean and sunny it was inside Bad: - The meal was on the more expensive side but we shared a lot! Overall enjoyed the experience a lot here and would recommend!

The 317 sachkor cha ktis was a table favorite. We didn't have any leftovers of that. I thought the Singapore noodles were okay. I didn't care for it too much. My friend said they weren't authentic Singapore noodles I wish I got to try the skewers this time since they looked good but we didn't order them this time

    NHORM MOARN (CHICKEN SALAD)

Last day before flying home, I wanted to taste a little bit of home, so we found this Cambodian restaurant to try out. We arrived around 2pm or 3pm and so the restaurant was empty (which was nice). The staff was friendly, and we settled in to order the following: 1. PRAHOK KATIS: Minced Ground pork simmered in spicy coconut milk & Cambodian anchovy sauce which had a lot of robust flavors. Served with fresh vegetables & diced chili. Scoop the vegetables into the prahok. 2. NHORM MOARN (CHICKEN SALAD): Chicken breast mixed w/ shredded cabbage, carrot, onion, mint leaves tossed w/ house made dressing. The house dressing is essentially a sweet fish sauce mixed with minced garlic. Very fresh and healthy. 3. SACH CHHROUK ANN KREUN: Pork charbroiled with lemongrass spices served with vegetable & house sauce. The house sauce is a sweet fish sauce for dipping the pork into. 4. CHHET CHEAN: Deep fried banana with cookies and cream ice cream. Battered banana and black sesame seeds to finish the meal. Very settling. Note: The appetizers are more like family style portions, so it was a lot for 2 people to finish the Prahok and Chicken Salad. We had to pack to-go. The bathroom was very clean, and the parking is mostly street parking or paid parking behind the building. Overall, definitely recommend and will return in the future.

I've been obsessed with Cambodian food recently and Phnom Penh house did not disappoint! We ordered the Prahok Ktiss, beef sticks, and a Cambodian milk tea. The Prahok Ktiss was fishy and the flavors were strong and pungent. I loved how it was served with fresh vegetables, the freshness of the vegetables & the fishiness of the prahok ktiss balanced each other out really well. The beef sticks were so tender and flavorful & I loved the slight smokiness of it. It was served with pickled vegetables that added the perfect acidity to the dish!

First time trying! My table and I were immediately seated. The staff were very friendly. My table and I ordered a few dishes. The Singaporean noodles were decent. The inside is clean. Parking is available on the street!

We were trying to have dinner at another nearby restaurant but the line out the door and the one-hour waitlist encouraged us to go elsewhere. Fortunately, our back-up destination was just across the street at Phnom Penh House. We walked in and snagged the last table. Talk about fortuitous timing! Our friends had never dined here before so they had a great time just looking through the menu. We've been here a couple times before and it looks like I may have failed to write reviews, or they've been taken down. We knew the food was good and that we would be in good hands. For four adults and a three-year old, we ordered: Traop Ang - Eggplant grilled and then sauteed w/ garlic topped w/ shrimp & pork. Slaap Moarn Borg - Boneless chicken wings stuff w/ lemongrass spice, bean thread, meat, black mushroom, onion & served w/ pickled cabbage and house sauce. Hamok Trei - Slice fish cooked w/ coconut juice, spices of lemongrass, wrapped and steamed. Kary Tia - Duck cooked w/ potato & green beans in a brown shrimp paste curry flavored sauce. Cha Kathiw - Pan-fried noodles w/ chili sauce, bean sprouts, green onion and egg topped w/ ground roasted peanuts. We asked our order taker if anything that we were ordering was particularly spicy and he replied no. What we guessed would be the spiciest dish, the noodles with chili sauce was actually on the sweet side so we think that he may have had the kitchen adjust the seasoning for us. Our friends were blown away by the selection and the flavors. We were also quite pleased. Service was excellent. The dining room is intimate yet well lit.

Fantabulous!! As always people know where to find good food. Packed on a Saturday night, best dishes include eggplant with pork, duck curry, spinach with beef in a peanut sauce and stuffed chicken wings. Tried the soup this time which was very tasty! Owner is always welcoming and friendly, taking the time to make each customer feel special. Clean space with beautiful pictures and decor are nice touches of Cambodia! Love coming here, and always save room for fried banana and ice cream for dessert!

Alameda parking can be difficult but we found a parking spot about 1 1/2 blocks from the restaurant and put our name on the waiting list. We waited about 10 mins as only one name was ahead of us. My first time eating Cambodian food which is similar to Thai but the two dishes that we tried were good but mostly I tasted lemon grass in the stuffed chicken wings and the grilled pork also had lemongrass. If I'm in the area I will try the noodle dishes when I return.

    Mussels were very good

Parking is a bit difficult but we managed to find street parking a block away. Wasn't too crowded and there was plenty of seating inside. You order first and you find a table to sit, and they bring out the food to you. Self serve water is available. The food came out pretty quick! Thoughts: - Lobster roll (classic) was delicious! Generous amount of lobster. Would definitely get this again. Chips weren't too great though. - Fried shrimp basket was nice. Shrimp was crispy and tasty. Fries were also very crispy and flavorful. The sauces go well with the shrimp/fries. Coleslaw isn't the best though. - The crab nachos were surprisingly good. A nice cheese sauce combo with pico/avocado crema and a good amount of crab. - Garlic noodles were fine, nothing standout about them. - Mix and match basket with catfish, cod, and calamari (not pictured): Catfish was solid (would highly recommend, one of the favorites of the meal!), but would pass on the cod and calamari - a bit dry/fishy. Would recommend for a casual spot for seafood and a nice view!

Anyone remember the Jack London Village that they tore down to build this end of the development? Anyways - this is a fast casual type spot, where you order from the counter, place the little number sign on your table and wait for it to be delivered. The menu is your standard seafood joint by the water type, with all the usual suspects represented. Fried fish, shrimp, chowder, seafood pastas--if you've ever been to a seaside seafood joint, chances are good that the menu here is exactly like the one you remember seeing at the countless other places like this one. I noticed right off the bat that their pricing structure was on the high side - with a $17 burger and fries option, with the bulk of the fried seafood options in the $22-25 range. A cheaper choice might be the $16 fish tacos (two of them) but I kind of draw the line at paying $8 for a single taco. Our table ordered a few of the fried options plus a few soda beverages. The food arrived in a reasonable amount of time, and I noticed that the silver metal trays that the food comes on is a bit on the small side, especially considering the prices for each dish. The fried shrimp dish was a big scoop of mega-salty french fries, and 3 average sized deep fried shrimp. Yes - 3 as in 1, 2, 3. That's what - $7+ a shrimp? The two fried fish platters weren't much better portion-wise. My deep fried cod consisted of three modest sized fish-fingers, and not the single luscious chunk of perfectly fried cod I had imagined in my head when ordering. They were fine - but very average and nothing that stood out as life-changing or something to write home about. As mentioned earlier, they must be employing the Little Rascals method where they over salt everything, in hopes that you'll order another beverage to wash down the copious mounts of sodium (I figure about 4+ days worth). The fried catfish platter that rounded out our order was more of the same - thin meager portions of fish on a large bed of mega-salted fries. Small plastic containers of generic pre-made tartar sauce and coleslaw can with each platter. The coleslaw was fine - just very forgettable and perhaps a tad on the flavorless/watery side. All said, was it okay? Yes. Was it anything outstanding that I'd crave and plan my return to have again? No. It is in line with touristy by-the-Sea seafood places that charge an extra couple of bucks because they're "on the water"? Pretty much. You're paying for the view and the 'scene' of sitting on the patio out front to people watch, and not for the food. I kind of hate these places and normally try my best to stay away from them, but every once in awhile, you gotta put on your tourist hat and join the mindless flock. A meager 2 stars outta 5 from me. Instead, I'd stroll around this area on a Sunday when they hold the farmer's market (again - is not what it used to be) and then drive through the tube to Alameda where great dining spots are numerous on Park Street. You can stop at Crab Cove and Crown Beach on the way, for more touristy sightseeing.

It's the little things sometimes that really help to take the heavy lift off, while giving back the flexibility and energy to the driver :) While I can't speak for the interior of the restaurant, we did roll through the drive-thru to test it out over the weekend while exploring Alameda and all of its charm. On a Saturday evening it seemed like they were pretty swamped, and no one was responding at the drive-thru window so we figured maybe it was closed. We pulled up and my husband got out of the car to confirm before we pulled away with a worker inside the restaurant and they apologized. Almost immediately someone came to the window and gave us printed menus because we had already passed the digital menu part of the drive-thru. Service was excellent and I love how the servers have all worked at this restaurant for a long time - staff retention is a rare thing these days. The burrata and prosciutto appetizer was very tasty and the beet salad was refreshing and healthy. We enjoyed the prosciutto pizza that had a nice truffle scent. The pastas were also excellent - we had the oxtail ravioli and the butternut squash agnolotti. The mixed seafood platter was very good and they added additional shrimp and scallops for us. The branzino and salmon were my favorite. Nice selection of cocktails, beer, and mocktails. The dessert menu has a nice variety. We got the zabaglione with berries and the chocolate cake with salted caramel ice cream to end the night. Def a nice place for large groups to get dinner and drinks.

I've been here a couple times prior. We ordered a pizza for an appetizer to share in addition to our individual entrées of the spaghetti del trabocco, the lasagna, and the ravioli con coda. The pizza with the Italian sausage had a lightly spicy kick and the thin crust was perfectly crispy. The pizza was great. It was salty and savory without being overly heavy. All of our pasta entrées were delicious too. Good flavor and filling without leaving you feeling too stuffed. We had leftovers too. My favorite was the tiramisu that we shared. It was moist and lightly sweet and it helped end the meal on a great note! The restaurant can be a little loud if they're busy, but otherwise it has a great ambiance. Great place to stop by in Alameda-even Alysa Liu loves this place!

Do you know the way to Ballena Bay?…read more Pier 29 Restaurant is located in Alameda's Ballena Bay. It has an extensive seafood menu, full bar, soups, salads, and some chicken and steak. It has a view of the marina on one side, and a view of San Francisco bay on the other. It's away from the busy downtown traffic, and offers lots of free parking. I was treated to lunch there recently, to celebrate my retirement. For appetizers, we had Shrimp Cocktail and Fried Calamari. All the seafood was fresh. I then ordered the "Fish and Chips Combo" featuring fish and prawns. It consisted of two pieces of fried cod, and two fried prawns. The fish was fresh, and had a nice flavor. The prawns were crispy, and not greasy. There was a generous amount of crispy fries. The coleslaw on the side was dry and bland. Service was good. There were only two servers working, and it seemed the young lady was doing most of the work. But service was attentive, and she checked on our table a few times. Pier 29 is a large restaurant, probably capable of hosting large groups and events. It also has an outdoor patio. Can't find Ballena Bay? The entrance to Ballena Bay is 1 block east of Encinal High School, along Central Ave.

Alley&Vine was the first recommendation via yelp, so off I went. Arrived at around 8pm and was greeted by the wonderful Janet. She was super kind, warm, and welcoming and gave me the option to sit at a table or the bar. Being a solo traveller, I opted for the bar which was honestly great. To Start, I had a Singapore sling. Its rare I see these on the menu so I had to try. It was strong and delicious! So happy with my choice. For food, I had so much meat. The lamb chops to start were incredible. This was served with a little mozzarella + tomato salad with all of the balsamic glaze. Super yummy and perfectly medium rare. Next time, I can just have this on its own. Definitely a star. Next, I had the duck breast which sat on a bed of spinach risotto. Very delicious and also cooked perfectly. Being Taylor, I had to finish out the dinner with another cocktail (lemon drop) that was great and finally I had a little glass of port as my dessert. All in al a great little dinner at Alley & Vine. Thanks again to Janet and the team for some excellent service and incredible food.

We were greeted warmly and we each ordered a drink to start. I got the blood orange sour, which was tasty, and my friend got the strawberry margarita, which she enjoyed. I ordered the seafood pasta, while my friend got the spinach seafood risotto. I will state the obvious, these are just about the two most expensive dishes on the menu, but man, they had heaps of seafood and were absolutely delicious! When I say heaps, I mean the shrimp and scallops were giant, there were mussels and clams and crab meat. 100% worth it! We finished the meal with the tiramisu and that was ok. Honorable mention to our server who was attentive without being overbearing. I would absolutely come back and would highly recommend!
