We first used Tam's for dry cleaning a suit, and they did a great job. They even found cash in a pocket and when we picked up the suit they politely returned it. That kind of honesty goes a long way. They are great business folks who earned our loyalty from the start. More recently, we found an awesome extra-large baseball hat on Instagram (@nogginboss) and needed embroidery for a Padres patch. It was a bit of an unusual request, but Tam's took care of it without hesitation. My boyfriend was thrilled with his Christmas gift, and once again, Tam's came through. Highly recommend this business!

Super nice and welcoming. But then... Needed a graduation gown pressed same day. He said he could do it, came back a few hours later. They charged me $30 (that is including a discount) to press a graduation gown. I can't believe it cost that much to press something. (My fault for not asking when I dropped off how much it would be because I would not have had them do it). But I'm really upset. I feel I got taken advantage of. Will not be returning. Make sure to ask in advance how much they charge/ I'm scared to know how much they charge to dry clean one thing. read more

My daughter bought a $400 silk dress. She accidentally sat down on a red ink pen. It made a distinct mark on the back of her dress. I called several places and was either quoted a very high price or was told that they weren't sure they could get it out. Not at Tam's Alteration and Dry Cleaning! The owner was confident that he'd find a way. After testing out various chemicals on a silk pillowcase of mine that I gave him to sample, he finally found the right combo of chemicals and the stain is completely gone. His pricing was very fair and well worth every penny to have the dress restored. Truly miraculous! He made my daughter's day. Highly recommend Tam's. read more

Excellent place to go in La Mesa. The owner is very friendly and very accommodating. I took a mother of the bride dress in for alterations, he measured me on the spot, and had the dress completed by the end of the day. It was so perfect, and looks beautiful. Only hiccup was my daughter lives in an apartment complex the person doing the pickup got lost. I understand how many apartment complexes can be confusing. The person picking up and delivering was super cranky which made it feel like she was doing us a favor for a task she was being paid to complete. Maybe she was having an off day. Would still recommend as service was completely to our satisfaction.

This is, without a doubt, the most incompetent, unprofessional, and downright disgraceful business I have ever encountered. TAMS should be ashamed to even exist. I brought my wallet in for what should have been a routine leather renewal, and they sent it back looking like it had been mauled by a wild animal. Uneven dye, sloppy stitching, random stains, and a finish so horrendous it would make a thrift store reject look luxurious. And the customer service? An absolute joke. When I confronted them about their atrocious work, they couldn't even muster the decency to apologize. Instead, they had the audacity to tell me it was "the best they could do." The best they could do? My five-year-old nephew with a crayon could've done better! No refund, no accountability, not even a shred of common courtesy. This place is a scam factory masquerading as a business. They'll take your money, destroy your belongings, and then sneer at you when you dare to complain. Their "leather renewal" service is an insult to the craft and a slap in the face to anyone foolish enough to trust them. Save yourself the agony. This isn't just bad service--it's outright robbery. I wouldn't let these clowns touch a dog leash, let alone something I value. If there's any justice in the world, this abomination of a business will shut down for good. read more

Tams alteration is a fantastic operation with a mom and pop shop feel. My wife and i found Tams while just walking through down town La Mesa. I took two of my sutis in to them have cleaned, my dress shits came back as white as when i first bought them. My suits were handled with care, and The pricing for cleaning is amazing.
