I was in a bit of a pinch right before an upcoming trip to Europe. As I was pulling out my sweaters, I noticed one had a hole in it. I had already gone to another tailor earlier who told me it would take two days and that the repair would be noticeable no matter what, not exactly reassuring when you're on a tight timeline. I decided to stop by here for a second opinion, showed her the sweater, and she simply said, "Let me take a look." Before I could even walk back to my car to grab my wallet, the hole was fixed, perfectly. I asked how much I owed, and she said, "No charge." Absolutely incredible service, skill, and kindness. The repair is completely unnoticeable, and the experience was genuinely refreshing. You don't see this level of craftsmanship and customer care very often anymore. I was a customer for several years and spent well over $2,000 on alterations here. The quality of the tailoring itself was generally good, which is why I continued returning. Unfortunately, the biggest issue was reliability. Promised completion dates were routinely missed, often by weeks. On one occasion, one of my dresses remained at the shop for nearly three months. I understood the shop was busy (there are 2-3 employees besides Helen), but the repeated delays made it very difficult to plan around deadlines. During my visits, I also personally observed other customers coming in to pick up garments only to be told they were not ready yet. Seeing that happen repeatedly made me realize my experience with delayed completion dates was not unique. My final experience is why I decided not to return. I had a skirt altered exactly as I originally requested. After wearing it, I realized the fit was no longer appropriate for my work wardrobe. This was not the tailor's mistake--I simply changed my mind and asked if she could loosen the waist back to its previous fit. I was happy to pay for the additional alteration and did pay for it. Instead of simply accepting or declining the work, the conversation escalated. I was told that I was "never happy," that I caused too much stress, and that if I couldn't accept late completion dates, I should go somewhere else. I was also told that a bad yelp or google review would not matter because she didn't need to work. The discussion took place in front of other customers, and we both ended up raising our voices. I found the experience embarrassing and upsetting. After that, I had a similar alteration completed by another tailor within a few days for a comparable price, which showed me that the long delays I had experienced for years were not something I had to accept. I understand every business has the right to set its own policies. However, customers also deserve professional communication, realistic completion dates, and respectful treatment when requesting additional paid work. Based on my experience, I can no longer recommend this shop. read more

She did an amazing job making a custome fur trimmed robe for my denothor Halloween costume.

I've brought several things here for alterations - jeans that needed hemming, sweaters that needed tucks here and there, and this last time, two maxi sundresses that I'm taking on vacation with me. I haven't worn them in a while as I can't wear high heels anymore and now they're too long on me, plus the straps were too long so they tended to show off more of "the girls" than I was comfortable with. Helen did a fantastic job on both dresses! Hemmed one of them by probably a good 4", secured the bust in the center, shortened the straps on both, took in the waist and hips on one so it doesn't float on me like a mu-mu now. I am unfortunately writing a negative review. I chose to have a bridesmaid dress tailored here based on previous reviews. Although the tailor was very nice, she never actually took in my dress. Due to wedding season, she asked for as much time as possible to complete the item. I gave it to her, we confirmed time and date for pick up. When I went to pick it up, she had done nothing to the dress. It's now covered in chalk marks, doesn't properly fit me, and I have no time for an alternative seamstress because I am literally on my way to the wedding. I am so angry that I'm shaking. $125 to hem a formal dress, and it never happened. This is so unprofessional. I cannot recommend this business and I will not return. read more

Let me start off by saying I was scared out of my mind to let someone alter my wedding gown. I paid over 5k for this gorgeous dress that took over 6 months to come in once ordered. I was between sizes 2 and 4, so I went with a 4 just in case. I found the dress to be too big in every way, just 6 weeks before the big day. Thank goodness for Helen, the heroine of this story! Helen was very patient listening to how I wanted to look in my dress. She had me put the dress on with the shoes I would wear and got to measuring. She was so confident and put my mind at ease. She took an hour and a half to make sure everything was perfect. When I got my dress back, it was as of the dress was not only made for me, but Helen actually made the gown even more beautiful than it already was! We took my daughter's new long dress for a hem and a repair in the back because the zipper made a bump right where her butt was. Helen said she would fix that ugly bump the zipper made. When we went to pick up the dress my daughter tried it on and it still made that ugly bump. I told her I just saw a very small improvement but it was still not good.
