What a little gem of a restaurant! We were traveling by the Bolingbrook area and wanted to try something a little different. Boy oh Boy - I'm glad we stopped here! Everything we tried was delicious. We've never tried Uzbekian food before but the flavors proved to be something special! Our teenage boys even enjoyed it and said this spot might be on their top 5 list of food they've had! Surprisingly good place especially with lamb dishes. Pretty clean lobby with a cake/dessert show case. I was very surprised with eggplant salad in which the cubed eggplant was fried to crisp and tender inside; on the top of greens. Different and delicious. Lamb soup and lamb noodles are delicious too. Our family came to Bolingbrook to visit our adult son in a sports tournament. We found Caravan restaurant on Yelp looking for something new. We tried Uzbek food for the first time and fell in love! Ambiance was cheerful, clean and welcoming. Miss Diana provided excellent service and hospitality so we came back a second evening! The food was. Uzbeki. I wasn't sure what was what. The two times I have been there it was hard to order with the different languages.The menu made it easier to order with being in English and the pictures. The service was very slow as everything was home made. We watch what was going in as someone set a large table that was taking place. They were very slow with while your ordering and servicing. The food was very fresh and very hot. I got a dumpling soup that was large and very good. It was very filling as it was a broth soup with meat dumpling.We went another time and the same way slow but I am thinking there culture is this way but very good food being fresh and very good you didn't mine the wait. We had a groupon and asked they suggestions. The language gotten much better where you could understand more. The suggested the player combo. It had different things from county. Second time trying Uzbek food but first time here. In a small strip mall, the restaurant with table service was nicely decorated. My friend and I wanted to try a couple dishes so shared the salad with warm eggplant pieces, amazing!! For the main entrees we tried a chicken and beef dish. Loved the fried chicken but the beef was a little tough. Two out of three I'd get again. Service was prompt and friendly staff. read more

Decided to try a new Uzbek restaurant that opened a few months ago and so glad we stopped in! Decided to get an overall sampler and it was a great deal. It included 2 manti, kefta kabob, grilled chicken and beef shank with French fries, grilled peppers and carrot and cabbage salad. Caravan is fantastic! The food is incredibly fresh and delicious, with perfectly cooked and seasoned meats. I especially enjoyed the tomato cucumber salad and the lamb soup topped with dough. Although there were two different vinegar options on the table, I found the soup flavorful enough without needing much. Overall, a great dining experience! I have never had Uzbeki food before. This was the best food I have had in a long time! Staff were also friendly and lovely- but to be clear the food was such a level of amazingly delicious that I'm logging onto yelp for the first time in years just to leave a review. We got the lamb dumplings, carrot salad, yogurt salad, and the salad that includes eggplant. I'm eating the leftovers for breakfast and looking forward to it already. It's the highlight of this quick out of town trip for me, and I regret that I am from out of state and unlikely to be back to IL anytime soon. 11/10; once I get back home I will certainly dream about coming back to eat at this restaurant again. read more

Yet another Central Asian restaurant in the Chicagoland area! It's been fun trying them out. So far I've tried Anjir, Chinar, Jannat, and Sorry Mommy. Now we tried Caravan. Caravan is located in a strip mall, to the far left. Parking is decent. When we went inside, we didn't see a worker, so we seated ourselves. It turns out there was only one server taking/delivering orders. Service was friendly enough. There are about eight tables inside, mostly four-seaters but one larger table with eight chairs. The interior is nothing fancy. Anjir and Chinar feel nicer. Caravan didn't feel like the type of place where you could have a cozy conversation. Oddly, the other dozen or so customers were all men; we were the only family with a child. The table settings were decent with proper plates and silverware. We ordered plov, manty, and chuchvara. The plov was a bit dry, but thankfully not as greasy as other places. I suppose this was a healthier plov since it didn't have overly fatty meat. The manty was on par with other places, although I feel Anjir has the best manty so far. The chuchvara was somewhat disappointing because the soup broth was nearly flavorless (compared to Jannat); however, the dumplings inside were excellent. First time ever to an Uzbek place for me, and I was impressed. They got off to a great start by having Pepsi (Coke too for Coke fans), and then not asking for a tip on their automated checkout screen for a carryout order. Even before tasting one morsel of food, I was already getting good vibes. The young lady that works the register (also the waitress for dine-ins) was very helpful in suggesting a dish that I might like. I went with their goulash, a bit different from the Eastern European ones I'm used to, but nevertheless yummy! Unlike other goulash dishes I've had in the past, this one was not a stew-like mixture of stuff. Instead, stuff was isolated (though all together). On the "bottom layer" was rice, mashed potatoes, rotini and buckwheat. This was all topped with very tender beef strips, all covered in a red sauce. On top of that was a carrot salad. Delicious! The food is hearty, savory, and full of flavor! My wife had the Chili Meat-Achik Gusht, which is like the best pot roast you've ever had. Try it with the vinegar concoction on the table, it adds a lot of zing! I had the Ghan-Phan, which was reminiscent of an Asian rice dish but with a savory stewed lamb. Really interesting.
