We tried the tomato soup with seafood this time on top of the normal order of kebab, and we are still talking about it. So yummy. The Moroccan tea can heal any ailment physical or otherwise. This time it was more filled with citrus than cinnamon, making it warm and fruity with seasonal citrus. The atmosphere is always so calm and cozy here. I just love this place! Really solid central Asian food, as someone who has traveled to Central Asia several times I can say this place is one of the best I've ever had delivered. I've never eaten here but both times I got delivery it was extremely solid. The flavor profile and contrast between the meat and carbs is quite nice. I recommend the Kurdak and lagman, both are flavorful, rich and satisfying. I recommend asking for Ajika, to add some spice. Overall highly recommend, especially for those who have never tried this type of cuisine. Can't comment on service or ambiance as I've never dined in here. read more

I wish I could get just an order of their rice with the carrots it's absolutely heavenly!! It's from the Plov and with everything combined together in one perfect bite it is one of my favorite bites in the city! I can't recommend the plov enough. The manty was good and the lagman was alright. The kuurdak was surprisingly good though! I'm not a huge lamb person but the sauce that it's in is so good and the potato soaks up all the flavor. My favorite cuisine in Chicago. Lots of meat and seafood. I love the Kazakh style soup and samsas at Anor; they are very big and tasty. Last time, I had a Tashkent tea, Manty and Kazakh style soup. Very good, friendly service and a cozy atmosphere at the restaurant. I would really like if it they added black tea with milk to the menu. First time at Anor, and you can pick any spot. I looked at the menu but did not know what to order and asked the waitress if she could recommend a few dishes to try. We ordered the Manty ($18) which looked like steamed meat dumplings. The dumplings tasted good without any sauce, purely minced ground beef mixed with onions. Next item was the beef Kuudak ($18) which was similar to the Manty but not steamed but pan fried with the same meat filling. Last item was the kabob which was the best tasting ($25) 4 morsels. Overall, the food was ok and should have ordered different dishes not sure why she ordered the same meat dish for us. The location of the restaurant is near many other food types. Wow what a wonderful little restaurant! Looking for a place to eat, Anor only popped up when I zoomed in on Google Maps! I'm so glad we came here for lunch because the food was spectacular. The waitress was also super nice and helpful with the menu. We ordered the manty, plov, and mastava to share. Each item was delicious and flavorful and super fresh. My Russian friend gave this place her seal of approval after one bite of the plov. My personal favorite dish was also the plov. I definitely need to come back and try more of the menu. read more

Came across this spot walking around Lincoln park and decided to check it out. I was pleasantly surprised by how great the food was, tried their shrimp Cesar and the Greek salad both were really good, definitely want to go back and try out more items fron their menu. There was a Uyghur & Kazakh restaurant near our home, owned and operated by a Uyghur/Kazakh family from Xinjiang, China. Alas a very uneven experience. You can see there's some effort put in with a few of the dishes, but I get the feeling of an establishment on rote, who've served the same menu forever. It's formulaic. The standout was the Moroccan tea--but how easy is this to make? it's a cakewalk. Our mango and crab salad was made with Pollock, not genuine crab. It also seem to have a bagged lettuce with it, and though the dressing was tasty, it was still not worth the price point. I had a Russian noodle soup which had a tepid and bland broth, again nothing either offensive, nor outstanding. The real letdown was my husband's entrée, South American sea bass, which is usually hard to find. In the photos, it appeared to be a fresh-cooked filet; but upon arrival it was clear the fillet had been frozen before thawing and cooking. When we spend 30 dollars US on a fish? It ought to be fresh. The taste was, again, fine, but not a standout. The almond dessert we split between the two of us? was very tasty and I'd order again. It was unclear though whether this was made in house, or not. I have my doubts. The decor is dreary! and cheap--it hasn't been touched since dull grey was all in vogue in the 90s. No rugs to break up the grey faux wood floorplanks, and the stark white plastic 'garden' pieces, as well as the plastic faux grass outside, is really cheesy and classless. I realize ethnic places often save precious dollars on decor and hope to make up the difference with their choice food offerings ....but the latter didn't mitigate the assault on aesthetics that is this sparse, dreary decor. So....I'll skip this joint in the future, more's the pity. They have a niche for their cuisine, but are going to have to upgrade significantly to warrant another look. read more

We were really excited to come here. It was only two of us. Not much trouble at all. And we got there before it even got too busy at 7 pm. The food was really good but the service was TERRIBLE. Every-time we requested plates, napkins, utensils, a drink, ANYTHING. We had to ask at LEAST TWO extra times. I'd see other couples around us who would ask for the same thing I asked for and get it right away. Didn't make sense. But it got to a point where I had to communicate with the host to just get things done for us because we were always forgotten about. Our server would say ok after a request and just completely forget after walking away and never brought what we requested. Also, they brought the food out sporadically. For an example, we were served our sides and waited like 10+ mins for our main dish. And I got my main meal first and my partner got their food like 10-15 mins after me. I was more than halfway through my meal by the time they got their meal. Like I said, the food was good. But the service was terrible. I would not dine here again or bring someone there. I'd MAYBE have their takeout cause the food was good. But service and attentiveness, they need to work better on. read more

My favorite place for dinner. A cozy, bright place with panoramic windows overlooking the street. Polite, smiling staff and servers. They have 4 key dishes: samsa tandoori, plov, lagman, and manty. I love their samsa for the crispy dough and the amazing filling inside, which pairs deliciously with their signature sauce. The very large portion size of the plov and the amazing quality meat makes me order it again and again - it's very tasty! The Tashkent tea, which consists of citrus fruits, honey, ginger, and mint, energizes me and provides vitamins. And for dessert - honey cake. Honey-soaked biscuits with a creamy caramel filling goes perfect with a tea. It's the most delicious Central Asian cuisine in Chicago for me. Highly recommend! read more

The best breakfast food, especially delicious, presentable and fresh, however I was disappointed with the dinner that I had. The plov was an old from earlier morning or even yesterday's. The manty and samsa tastes the same. Just a different preparation. Both has a lot of zyra that's has aftertaste. I would highly recommend to change the recipe. The samsa's dough is so thick, that potentially can break your teeth! As I sad, the taste is not the same as in back country. The service is not good as well. The waiter and waitresses were laughing and gossiping about customers. That's not acceptable. Well, I came in the restaurant at 7:40 pm and the cashier brought us to a uncleaned table. We waited for 10 mins to get our water and 5 mins later the server noticed that we hadn't got the menu yet. I told her I was about ready to order because I already knew what I want from the previous review from other people. What happened next is most "famous" food I wanted to order is out of stock for some reason while I could literally see other table was actually getting it. I ordered Lamb Plov and after 30 mins we got it, the lamb was dry and tough. It is busy tonight but our server is just running around and not really doing something helpful. I mean as a local famous restaurant in Chicago, first of all y'all need to get fully prepared, not telling your customers we out of this we out of that. Secondly, your server should check their table frequently, not letting your customers sit in the chair and talk to air. I hope I can rate less but it is what it is. read more

We ate two soups (shorpo and mushroom), beet salad, traditional tea, and a waffle with fruit and chocolate sauce that they were testing for a breakfast item. Without fail, every item was wonderful. And different. Even the mushroom soup, bread , and salad were unique and among the best I have ever had.
