We came here for my daughter's 16th birthday, based on the reviews. This food is excellent! The service was great. The ambience is chill, there was an upbeat music playing in the background. The seating area is aesthetic. They have cool lighting and decor. As an appetizer we ordered Somosa (5/5). For entrees, we ordered spicy butter chicken (5/5), spicy chicken tikki masala (5/5), basmati rice (5/5), garlic naan (5/5) and cheese naan (5/5). For drinks we tried a Strawberry Lassi (3/5). The strawberry lassi was a little syrupy, didn't mix well with the food. But worth the try. Overall, great experience! We'll be back.

Ok Modesto on NY's day! Reservation made for 5pm and we were a few minutes late but to our surprise, our table was ready for us and I mean literally ready, place stetting and all. Points for that! We ordered Chai tea and veggies Samosa,, both were very good. Samosa crust was super flaky and the filling very tasty, had it with the mango chutney. We ordered family style, tandoori chicken tikka, butter chicken, lamb biryani, garlic naan (they are not stingy with it either) saag aloo, Chana masala and chicken curry. What a feast the 4 of us had and there were leftovers. Eve thing is authentically prepared, no fast food business here! The flavors, right amount of spice, and the meat all cooked to perfection. Not an unhappy customer at our table! Will definitely revisit when I come back to Modesto. Vibe was quite and you can speak to others without yelling, nice feel Eve if you come alone. Hands down Tandoori Flame is my newest fav when I want Indian food. I live in NY and have a plethora of restaurants to choose from so forgive my excitement about this place.

Another show at the Gallo. Another meal needed. Let's try someplace new! Tandoori Flame has some positive ratings. It's right across the street. Let's go! Before entering, there was a sign outside and another taped to the window offering Government Officials and Healthcare Workers a 20% discount. We stepped in and were greeted at the register. We were handed menus and told to take any table that we wanted. Shortly thereafter, we were brought glasses, a carafe of water and set-ups. When it was time to place our order, I asked about the Discount and was told that any Government Official or Healthcare Worker with an identification card would receive the discount. Cool. I showed the server my ID Card and he said that it was acceptable. We ordered: Mango Lassi & Strawberry Lassi - 5 - both were very good and refreshing without being overly sweet. Vegetable Samosa - 5 - two conical Samosas with two different sauces. I cut my Samosa in 1/2 and tried both sauces, a different one on each 1/2. Tandoori Roti - 3 - We were following another yelpers suggestion that the Roti would be lighter than Naan. It was okay but nothing at all like Malaysian Roti. I think that we would have enjoyed the Naan more. Malabari Fish Curry - 5 - We ordered this dish medium spicy, and it was perfect. Just enough heat to open up my pores but not so much that I was on fire all night. The sauce was perfect for either the Roti or the Basmati Rice that we ordered. The fish was tender and cooked well. Aloo Gohbi - 5 - The perfect blend of Cauliflower and Potato and spices. Also ordered medium spicy, this is one of those dishes that I can graze on all night long. When we were done, the server was surprised that we didn't need any boxes for leftovers. We ordered so there wouldn't be any. Had we been staying the night locally at a hotel with a refrigerator, we may have order two more dishes to add variety. We were told to pay up at the register. No bill was presented. The cashier rang us up and had me scan my credit card. The only receipt that he handed me was a transaction receipt. I asked for and he printed out a detailed receipt and the 20% discount was missing. I would guess that from the time I asked at the beginning of the meal and when we finally left, he inadvertently forgotten to punch it in. When I pointed out the error, he quickly pulled out a calculator and asked if it was okay if he returned my 20% in cash. Yes.

SO good! We stopped for lunch on our way to Fresno. The buffet was super tasty, but maybe a little veggie light. 3 chicken dishes, one potato, and one paneer. All we yummy, but I wish we could have had a sag paneer, daal, or other veg curry. Samosas were delish. Chili potatoes on point. Veggie pakora some of the best this side of India! Chai was perfection. The space is funky, clean, and the booths are comfy. The service was prompt and our water was always full. Strangely they let our plates pile up until the end, maybe that was to show us how many trips we made, but I prefer them gone soon

Fresh tasty Indian Cuisine! Brought my wife here on a date. It's right in the downtown Modesto area. Plenty of parking. It's a nice little place with nice decor. We were surprised it wasn't more busy being it was a Saturday night, we were able to get a table right away. The server was very polite. The food took a little bit to come out, understandable. I'll wait a little longer for fresh hot food. Played it safe and went with dishes I am familiar with, we ordered the butter chicken and the Chicken Tikka masala and got both mild spicy which was the perfect balance. Haven't enjoyed a meal like this in an awhile, every bite was full of flavor! There are quite a few Indian Cuisine places but I will say this place is legit! Will definitely be back to try more items on the menu.

Mango Lassi with rose syrup! Light & so delicious!

FANTASTIC!! Best Indian food I've had! Well other than some home cooking by friends. My friend took me here while visiting and I ordered the Mango Lassi. When it came, I was stunned by how gorgeous it was and my friend, who is Indian, explained they put rose syrup around the inside of the glass. It was delightful and their lassi is much lighter than most and I loved that. So often, while I like the beverage, they can be too thick and heavy with a meal. Alas we were so hungry & eager to dig in when the food came that I forgot to take pictures. Hmm not to mean they were slow, as our meal came out in a short time. We had the Tandori Roti and theirs is flaky and so flavorful. I usually only order naan, which I love, but it's just so heavy. But this Roti was far superior to others I've had. We ordered Baingan Bhartha which was quite good. The Malai Kofta and Butter Chicken stole the show though with their perfect melody of so many flavors in each dish creating a harmonious dance on your tongue hitting all the receptors. We ordered the Butter Chicken medium spice level and the other two dishes mild. When I'm Back in Modesto again, I'd dial each dish up another level I think. Located across the street from the Gallo Theater for when you're in the area for fun and just down the street from Court House if you're not having fun, but need good food to sustain you. Chai tea was our dessert - again, perfect! Prices were very fair. Service was phenomenal. The guys were all cordial, helpful and attentive without being pesky.

This place is hands down the best Indian food I've had in Modesto. You must try the Samosas Chat, butter chicken and the mango lassi drink. Oooooof! If you're craving Indian, look no further. Emy was such a wonderful server, he was extremely attentive & so happy to be serving us. Thank you for such a great experience.

I gotta tell you, this place always delivers!! I have been all over the U.S., tried many different versions of "Indian food" and this place is one of my top 3! I have never experienced such friendly service, delicious food, and amazing atmospheres all in the same place. Usually you get two, but here it's all three! I obviously love the butter chicken and palak paneer, but just ask for other recommendations and their VERY helpful staff will guide you in the right direction. I even received this delicious Mango drink as a courtesy!

Looking for another culinary adventure brought us to Tandoori Flame. It has a high rating on Yelp so it's worth giving it a try. The wait staff was very attentive and helpful. We should've heed his advice when he said we would be good with medium spice as the mild spice was too watered down for us. I guess we'd have to go back for that. The butter chicken and lamb vindaloo was on point: the chicken biryani, though, was lacking. I don't know if it was because we ordered mild spice or something else. I didn't see any coriander seeds and there big cuts of onion and green pepper which I don't remember in my previous encounters with this dish. I will not pass judgement on this dish for now. Definitely would have to give it another try. The mango lassi was refreshing. The ambience is casual. The restaurant itself is small so if going in big groups, may need to make a reservation. We went for dinner but saw some chaffing dishes by the entrance. So they may have lunch buffet. Worth to inquire with the restaurant about that .

Hands down the best Indian restaurant in the area! Delicious food, beautiful decor, clean and bright inside and great service. We tried the samosas, fish pakora, chicken vindaloo, lamb curry, aloo gobi and garlic naan. Everything we ordered was perfectly cooked and delicious! The best in town for Indian food! We always make it a point to stop here whenever we're in the area. Convenient parking options with street parking or a large lot on the side. The service is top-notch, and the food is incredible - the naan is perfect, and the lamb curry just melts into the rich, flavorful sauce. Highly recommend! read more

Excellent food!!! Very flavorful, authentically prepared. The lunch buffet is worth every dollar. Only $20.99. Considering today's prices on everything this seems very reasonable for the quality of food and the selection at the buffet. You can also order off the menu. Full bar also. Following the social media posts, I wanted to try this place. Getting there on Friday evening, some challenge to find the parking was expected. Did not find any parking spot on the street, but the parking garage on 11th Street had plenty of parking. It was a short walk from there to the restaurant. The place is reasonably well decorated and presents a good ambience. We had to wait for a few minutes as all the tables were taken, but then did get seated shortly after that. We placed our order for Aaloo Tikki with Chana, Paneer Tikka Masala, Malai Kofta and Tandoori Roti. All vegetarian items. Appetizer and main course items were spaced and did come well in time. All the food was tasty. We ordered medium spicy, and it was at right level. Definitely a place that can be revisited. read more

My family and I spent a wonderful Christmas Eve together over their lunch buffet. It was well worth the price $19.99 for the value, freshness and taste of the food. All of the curries were so creamy and they had dessert and noodles to complement their usual dishes. My boyfriend and I went on a Friday night, early after getting off work. We were seated quickly. It was his first time eating Indian food, so I ordered some dished that I figured he would like. Garlic naan, crispy chicken, spicy tandoori shrimp, chicken tikka marsala, malai kofta, jeera rice and since they were out of Samosa's we tried the aloo tikki. It was all so delicious! A great addition to downtown! We took advantage of our discount passes during Mod Shop and stopped by here for some take-out. We ordered the chili chicken, aloo tiki, vegetable samosas and pakora. Everything was delicious, particularly the chicken (we ordered the medium spice) paired with the aloo tiki and yogurt sauce. Really looking forward to returning here to try more of their dishes. read more

The food was amazing as well! Some of the most flavorful Indian food I've ever had, The portions aren't gigantic, but if you take your time and share everything a la carte, you WONT be disappointed. Stop wasting time wondering, just go try it! * only reason I could see someone not liking it is would be if they went in with an expectation to get stuffed beyond recognition, this spot won't send you to the toilet. Their food is real, whole, authentic and all around wonderful. I got full as a 225lb man and woke up the next day feeling great! read more

food was excellent and reasonably priced. I was impressed that $14.99 got me a main dish... I ordered garbanzo bean (spicy) which came w/rice and your choice of garlic or butter naan. It was soooo good. We started w/samosas that were also very very tasty. the homemade green dipping sauce was my favorite. It's decorated very cute as they kept the natural boho theme from the last restaurant. That made me happy:) service was great and friendly. he was able to answer all of our questions. We ordered Masala chai tea (without sugar) afterwards. That... was my first time trying. I usually love chai tea.. but this was very different. We added our own sugar. I gave up as to get to the point where I liked it.. it was too much sugar. So I finished half. at least I tried. I will definitely be back and you should go too! im sooo excited for Modesto's newest downtown addition. This is their 3rd restaurant ... so they know what they are doing! This was my first time here (recommended by my bf who enjoyed this restaurant before) it was clean inside with pretty decor & good, chill music. The servers were friendly. The food was amazing! This is my second time ever having Indian cuisine. We ordered the veggie samosas appetizers with garlic & cheese naan sides. My dish was the chicken biriyani. I was so happy with my choice. 10/10. Medium spice was perfect for those who enjoy spicy but dont want to overdo it. Good sized plates ( i wanted to finish the whole thing but had enough for leftovers for tonight :D ) my bf had the buttered chicken with side of rice. I tried it & enjoyed it as well. The first time I went here the food was delicious. I took my mother here for her birthday and the ambiance was sensational. It's a beautiful & modern. Love the design of the place. The service was attentive and very kind. We really enjoyed the food. The second time I went, I ordered very mild, as little heat as possible and was given a meal that was very spicy! I thought that was a one time thing but the third time I went it happened again, and unfortunately it was to-go so two meals and 4 items got completely wasted cause I could bare to eat it. I think if someone is sensitive to eat, you may be taking a chance, but eat inside and they would be more than happy to correct it. But if heat doesn't matter I 100% suggest this place. The food was good, beautiful scenery and terrific service. read more

Delicious food & friendly service! I've been meaning to try this place and I appreciate that they have a vegetarian section for those who may not indulge in meat. The restaurant used to be a vegan restaurant before, but I love that they worked with the space and made it their own. It's different from what typical Indian Cuisine establishments look like but I think it's rather refreshing. Their food has excellent flavor and you can easily get full from at least half of a dish. read more

We had high hopes for this restaurant based on the way it looked and smelled. Unfortunately, after 45 to 50 minutes of waiting for our food to come, the first dish arrived without any naan or rice and the water had not been refilled. It goes on because I tried to point things out to the wait staff. Instead of working with me or apologizing, the staff argued with me. I told him sharply that they should not argue with customers to which he did apologize. Okra was extremely salty, and the naan was not crispy or tasty. We never got the drink we ordered and after paying they offered to give it to us to go. Everyone there was waiting for like an hour. Disappointing, in particular the outright rudeness. Seemingly no idea of how to run a restaurant. Pass on this one. read more

I was not aware of this Indian restaurant until a close friend informed me to give it a try. I was overall very impressed. A very diverse menu. I tried a few dishes , both vegan and meat. My first bite, was amazing! I could tell it was freshly prepared and deep flavors. The service was excellent-the waiter was helpful, professional, and timely. Nice decor, clean, and plenty of seating. Pricing was reasonable. I'll be going back to try more dishes. Give it a try!!! read more

This place has been my go to downtown. Kinda mad I didn't go there a soon as they opened but no that I have had it I am there once or twice a week! Amazing food! Amazing service! Family owned! Chai is awesome. The rice with the cardamom is perfect! The garlic naan is amazing! Portions are huge so I go for lunch and have the rest for dinner. Butter chicken, tika masala, fried paneer & the tandoori chicken are my favorite. Even my picky 6 year old loved the butter chicken. Go get your fix!! read more

5 stars because the food was amazing! First want to say parking sucks lol however it's really elegant inside and it's some what clean. Tables were a little sticky. The service was nice they didn't ask me if I wanted my food mild/ medium/ or hot. I had to ask. I ordered a Mango Lassi, and a strawberry Lassi. Strawberry one was not cold. Mango was chill. Our water they give us was warm. I also had chaa tea Chat (hot) Papdi was really good crunchy and flavorful! I ordered chicken tandoori, plain rice, garlic naan, Shahi paneer, butter chicken! I definitely loved the everything but the butter chicken. I say they all tasted amazing! Definitely recommend going! Service was great! Friendly and attentive! When it was time to pay, things became a little odd. We were using a credit card, and our waiter popped up front to tell us that they don't receive the tip if we leave it on the card, and instructed us to leave cash on the table. We almost always leave a cash tip for our servers anyway, but will choose to hand it to them, and not leave it on the table where it might "walk off" with someone else. So, I asked two different employees to ask our waiter to come up so I could give him his tip. He refused, even though they asked him multiple times. It was strange in my opinion. Below is a review I thought I had already posted from our previous experiences. This was my last review, it was unpublished: The last few times we went were a miss for us. The food is still wonderful, pretty much the best in the area (taste wise). However, we have not gone as often as we would like for several reasons. 1. They used to include the rice with an entrée if it was for dine in only. We realized that early on when we would dine and also have food to go. They charged us for the to-go rice.
