Came here for lunch and they don't serve Jokbal. Mostly soups and side dishes during lunch. Decent authentic Korean food but would only come back for dinner. Good was pretty fresh!

The best bossam (Korean shredded pork) in town. Most of dishes are tasty. My favorite is bossam and tteokbokki(spicy rice cake). tteokbokki is made mostly with red pepper flake rather than with pepper paste, which makes the dish more flavorful.

The food here is so fresh and flavorful! Our party got the half original half spicy jokbal, alongside the siraegi gamjatang and chive seafood pancake. The presentation was clean and the side dishes that came out were also fresh as opposed to most Korean places in the Chicago suburbs. Although it's a bit pricey the portions were really big and was more than enough. We tried to order one of the jokbals for family to go but they mentioned that it was no longer available for the night, so I'd highly recommend getting to the restaurant either when it opens or just right before it gets too busy before certain items run out. I think we got there around 6ish and when we asked for the additional around 7 it was already unavailable. Not surprised because every table had that dish, it's their speciality!

My mouth is watering thinking about this meal. It was so good! The platters are perfect for sharing. We tried the mixed jokbal (original + spicy). The spicy one has a great kick. The cold noodles, pork bone soup, and stir fry were all so so good. I would come back to try to bossam. They unfortunately ran out by the time we got there. Service was great. The staff were very friendly. The interior was modern and clean. Highly recommend to anyone in the area. It's worth the drive from Chicago.

God, I love this place. Their jokbal (pig trotter) is seriously a 10/10. I totally get why it's such a big chain in Korea. When they opened their first location in Northbrook, I was so excited to finally try it. I ordered the half original & half spicy jokbal, and it was so good. The original was rich, fall-off-the-bone tender, and SO flavorful. The spicy jokbal had all of that plus an addicting spice/heat. This is absolutely my favorite jokbal spot I've tried in Illinois. I love spicy food, but this was actually so spicy that I had to run to the bathroom a few times just to blow my nose, but it was so worth it. I love the smoky flavor their jokbal has!! Salivating thinking about it again. We went on a Saturday for an early lunch during their different opening hours when they were figuring things out. The place was pretty empty. The inside is very spacious, and we were greeted by the sweetest server. She had the cutest smile and was so attentive, which made the experience even better. I was told they were opening another location in Arlington Heights (which is now opened and is super close to where I live), so I'm beyond hyped. This is officially my go-to spot whenever I'm craving jokbal. It's definitely on the pricier side, so I'd recommend coming with a group to try multiple dishes. I'd say four people is ideal. Also, their soup is really good!

Jokbal was really good! The service was amazing and the ambiance was good. I'd go back and try different jokbals and gamma tang.

Our group shared the following: popcorn chicken, stir-fried chicken gizzards, fried eggs with Spam, corn cheese, truffle French fries, seafood pancake, bossam (pork belly, shrimp paste, lettuce wrap), rose tteokbokki, steamed egg souffle with cheese, spam and kimchi fried rice, station noodles (beef broth, veggies), and strawberry bingsoo. My favorite of the night was the rose tteokbokki. The tteokbokki was perfectly chewy and I enjoyed the flavor of the sauce. The popcorn chicken was also good and paired well with the sauce it came with. The bossam was on the dry side and the seafood pancake was pretty standard. The fries were good but wouldn't pay $10 for a basket of fries if we came back next time. The corn cheese was also good but the plate was small. There was a call button at each table which was convenient. Food came out individually as it was ready instead of all at once which was to be expected for our party size.

However, the price was a bit much for this I'd say. Beef tartar: 3 of 5 As there was nothing to special to it. Wouldn't get it a second time. I'd say the trip was disappointing for our party of 5 and what we got didn't match the quality of other gopchang restaurants in LA. For me who did not eat intestines I'd say it's a 3 of 5 place, but I'd say the value for the intestines based on what my party ate was more of a 2 of 5 as it was mostly grease that overwhelmed everything with no meaningful way to reduce it. Service was a good 4 of 5, but not as attentive at times.

Like another reviewer mentioned, this was cooked and prepared (Mongolian style) in the kitchen. It came out on a sizzling skillet. It tasted delicious. The meat was really tender and juicy, but there were a couple of pieces with bone-in which I didn't really care for. I thought the side-dishes were really good. I completely finished the kimchi and pickled cucumbers. So good. I almost forgot about the miso soup. It was pretty standard (which is good) and hit the spot on a wintery day. Unexpectedly, for dessert, the server brought out a Haagan Daas ice-cream bar lol. I wasn't sure if this was normal or if it was just because I'm handsome? (found out later they do this for everyone... lol). I didn't really have room b/c I was full from the main dish and sides but ate it anyways (why not?). Overall I had a delicious meal. I can't remember the pricing off the top of my head, but I would say that it's reasonably priced. Oh, they also serve alcohol here too so if your looking for a spot for a group of people, that is an option. I personally had a large Cass to wash down my meal. Daebak!

The redecorating and ambience was modern and sleek, with fully operational and clean water features. Grills were gas-operated, one grills there own meat items here. I really liked the natural-stone mini-subway style tiles on the walls. Like a lot of Korean places I have seen, the seats had minimal padding. I think this would be a great place for a date if you're in the area, a prize in an unassuming strip mall anchored by an auto parts store. Food was great, they happily and generously provided more banchan and also gave us complimentary bowls of soy paste soup that was practically jumping out of the bowl. As civilised as I tried to be, using my chopsticks and the cooking tongs correctly, I still felt like I completely stuffed my face like at a trough '^_^ it was all so good. Maybe to accommodate the neighborhood, the banchan was not nearly as spicy as we expected, so that might be great for someone trying Korean for the first time. Some might balk at the prices of some items, such as $24.99 for 1/2lb of raw meat, but we had a very enjoyable time and hope to come again.

We had Sang Gai Bi and the Heuk Sam Gyup Sal which was the pork belly. We loved them both. I personally like the beef over the pork but I would get both again. Lastly we ordered a marinated pork (forgot the name of it) and it was good, but I think we all preferred the non marinated meat better. Not sure if it's because we were already getting full at that time. Definitely recommend coming to this place. Charcoal bbq tastes so much better, although it can be a little harder to cook imo. But meat just tastes better bbq'd on charcoal, y'na mean? It honestly had been a decade and a half since I went to a proper charcoal KBBQ, so this was super exciting for me. The place had an old facade that was reminiscent of the "old days" for me. Not to say it was run down or anything, but everything from the floorplan to the old tables with charcoal pit installed tables reminded me of the KBBQ era of the 90's and beyond. Loved it! My family went inside way past lunch hour, so the place had cleared out and owners seemed to have been having lunch. The two gentlemen eho greeted us gave out father and son energy, but I couldn't be sure. There was a life sized photo of the oldtimer in a marathon getup hanging on one side of the shop entrance, which he explained was taken a decade ago. I could tell he would have been around my father's age, but seemed super healthy. A pleasant man for sure! It may not necesaarily be a good thing for owners, but I love it when there aren't too many patrons around, because it means that I'll get all the attention I need from them, when I need. It was certainly the case here. They were super attentive when we needed something. To be fair, we knew exactly what we wanted, so it wasn't like we needed to call them every 5 minutes, but it certainly was easy to get their attention when I needed another bottle of beer. :-D My family of three order two servings of marinated galbi, contemplating on whether or not to order my wife's favorite pork belly. In the end, we were too full and were glad we stopped with only two servings. We'll just have to come back to try other meat later. This is ALWAYS a dilemma for my family. All three of us each have our favorites, but none of us can eat a whole serving. We usually end up going with my daughter's favorite every time, unless my wife and I are out by ourselves, which these days is not as often as I'd like. We'll just have to wait a couple more years for her to graduate.. Galbi (short ribs) was GREAT! Not much else to say about it, other than the fact that any meat will taste better when grilled on charcoal. With so many other KBBQs around town with more "hip" and "modern" atmosphere, I don't know how well New Seoul is doing these days, but I certainly hope they do enough business to continue to be around. More and more Korean restaurants are moving away from their traditional way of doing things in order to cater to American audiences. They may not be huge changes, but these subtle changes make people like me and my wife a bit sad because it eats away a little bit of our nostalgia each time we experience some. I hate to sound like an old man about it, but I guess it falls to people like myself to continue to support more of the traditional places like these over the young ones. Anyway, based on just the marinated galbi my family had, I must give them 5 stars!
