During the times I've visited so far, it's been fairly busy. The quality of service seems to fluctuate. The first time I tried it, the server went above and beyond. She answered questions and gave some suggestions. The last time, my server was no where to be found. Another server had to come back over and refill my water, which was much appreciated. The place was well lit, spacious and clean. I would want to give it a 3.5 stars but comparing to the area, im giving it a 4. Pro: - For the area, this is pretty authentic but if comparing to So. Came to try Tang Taste for lunch after some recommendations. We all ordered the lunch special which comes with a choice of a soup, vegetable egg roll and crab cream cheese wonton, entree and steamed rice or fried rice. I ordered the Kung pao shrimp with hot and sour soup and steamed rice. The hot and sour soup is very traditional - has a good kick. The vegetable egg roll was pretty good - nice and crispy. The crab cream cheese wonton isn't my favorite, but it's just not my taste. The Kung pao shrimp was a bit sweet for my taste but the shrimp was great quality and delicious. What a surprise highlight for the trip. Since we haven't had Asian food for a day and half, we decided to go a bit out of the way to Flagstaff before heading back to Williams. The menu was impressive. It has more items than restaurants in LA. I wouldn't say the food is the most amazing, but all pretty good. And the service was the best we've ever had. The pork wonton soup was very flavorful, very good. Note: The "egg rolls" that come with the dinner specials are not the chicken egg rolls, they are the spring rolls, but they were okay. The orange chicken on the dinner special was a good sized portion and looked good, but it was chewy, bland, and I didn't taste any orange flavor. Their packaging for delivery was exceptional. The dinner arrived in an individual insulated sack and everything (utensils, sauces, etc.) was high quality and included in the bag. If it weren't for the orange chicken dish, I definitely would have rated them 5 star. This is the same restaurant as Hot Wok, you can look up the old reviews for that. They rebranded but the food's about the same. This restaurant falls into the category I call "more authentic than good." Their Sichuan/Hunan specialties are, according to a friend from Sichuan, what you'd find there. That said, I've eaten a lot of Sichuan food in, say, Chicago and Pittsburgh, and this is just ok in comparison. It'll meet your needs if you're desperate, but it's nothing special. I'd recommend it to locals desperate for a taste of home, but not to road trippers. I should note I did get an upset stomach the next morning, but that's at least partially my own fault for consuming too much hot pepper oil. read more
