This spot is a hidden gem!!! My fiancé and I took a trip up the Flagstaff for the day and while seeing all the other awesome eateries, this one stuck out the most because I wanted a mom and pop shop feel and that's exactly what you get once you walk in! The worst part was that all the vegetables were soft, which is very odd for Asian food. Honestly the best dish was the cream cheese wontons, which were very tasty and fresh. (Pink for some reason, but great.) Service was also extremely slow and all the spicy pepper jars were empty. If you're here in the area just to get food and nothing else, I highly do not recommend this place! Despite the good reviews I saw on here, the service was mediocre. The employees seem nice enough but after so long, nobody ever comes up to take the order (only got a cup of water when I sat down, and that was it). An older lady came by to the table next to me, and I expected she would take my order as well. However. once she left, she never came back. The place wasn't even that busy anyways, so I really don't understand. And I finally saw the order paper in front of me (I never had to do this in other restaurants so I didn't notice). I filled it out and still nobody came around. I gave up and just gave it to whoever was at the counter where they prepare boba drinks. They took my order, but then it also took very long for the two bowls of noodles to come out. Noodles was ok, but it wouldn't justify paying an extra hour of parking fees just to sit in here to eat. And I would have liked to get dessert but I wasn't sure how long it would take, so I didn't. We ordered 4 dishes and an appatizer. The waiter never wrote a thing down. Each dish came out 10 or more minutes from the last. Meaning one family member had to sit and wait while the next dish came out. We chose to eat family style and share each thing. We would finish a dish before getting the next one. The final dish never came. One of two teas ordered never came. Our garlic naan came out about 20 minutes after the appatizer. Then when the bill came the tea that we never received was still on there. Instead of doing anything to our bill to compensate for the shitty service they just left it. A hefty number of coffee shops were open but none would do for lunch. Fortunately, Big Bowl came to the rescue. Other party members got the Tom yum and pork soup bases which were pretty tasty. I got the beef soup base and it was sweet with minimal beef flavor and had to be enhanced with a few spoonfuls of fish sauce and some sriracha. My beef was overcooked and there were small portions of meatballs, cut in quarters. If meat is going to be skimped on, would like more veggies but this was not much as well. Traveling through Flagstaff and we were wanting something comforting to eat. After reading reviews we stopped here and it was no mistake. Every drop of soup was delicious. The spring rolls were fresh, the condiments were great, but you really don't need them if you like a clean tasting broth. I like spice so just about all the spice condiments went in. The pork broth with shredded pork was a good choice. Our waitress was very kind and accommodating. The restaurant is very clean and a soft mellow Asian music in the background added to the calm ambiance. If you want a healthy place to eat come here. My Korean place was gone when I drove by Flagstaff that weekend. So, I gave this new-to-me noodle place a try. They basically offer built your own noodle bowl menu. I tried their flat noodles in pork soup with bok choi and daikon. Btw, how do you know if a restaurant is NOT authentic Asian? They have broccoli as one of their vegetable choices! LOL. Anyway, pork soup was delicious in an instant broth way. You can't go wrong with flat noodle. And their meat balls were instant too. Came here based on the overwhelmingly positive feedback provided here. It was a chilly evening and we just wanted some warm noodles and saw that you could basically build whatever you want. "that's cool!" Better yet, only one couple inside that was already eating, so we were like "Cool, this should be quick!" So we came in and filled out our slip, choosing the fixins we wanted in our soup. And then we waited. Nobody came back to get our orders. I had to bring it to the front and get the owner's attention so she could take my order to the back. I also ordered a beer at that time to pass the time as we waited for our noodles. They finally brought me a slightly chilled bottle of beer and did not even open it. The guy started to walk away as we said "Can you open it please?" He came back with a bottle opener and put it on the table. wth. Following this, a couple came in after us and got their orders before us, as we waited patiently and were very frustrated at this point. Back to the soup. Assuming you can choose your own ingredients, you would then assume that the bowl of noodles would be made fresh and HOT like you would expect from any pho place, which was NOT the case. The noodles were warm at best. After that we went up to the front and paid hastily, as I had only purchased 1 hour of parking across the street from this place and we were down to 5 mins. The lady working there said no need to pay after 6pm, as if that makes our experience any better. So customer beware, if you are looking for a nice hot bowl of pho and good quick painless service, this is not the place to go.
