Please get a second opinion before spending a single dollar here, and don't trust what they tell you!! They told me I needed expensive deep cleanings both times I went in. I got it done the first time but refused the second. They made me feel bad about not doing it and made me feel like my teeth were going to fall out and said I had "the beginning of periodontal disease" which shocked me because I've always had healthy teeth. I went to a different dentist for a second opinion and was told that my teeth look perfectly healthy and that I definitely don't need a deep cleaning or anything extra that my insurance doesn't cover. Run from Tangerine Dental!!!! They are scam artists messing with people's health. Scary. read more

We both went for simple exams and cleanings after our insurance wasn't accepted at our regular dentist that we saw every 6 months. Each of us were told we needed their expensive work on our gums by this dentist. The bill would be $3,600 for me and $4,300 for my wife. "But don't worry, we have financing." Endured a 10 minute speech how they won't "under-treat a patient" and two others telling us how they have financing. Very high sales pressure. We left and won't go back. Front desk is kind but the Hygienists and dentists change every time we come in. They will try to upsell you every time. Finally had enough today when I was told it was unethical for them to perform a prophylactic cleaning, as I need a more specialized and expensive cleaning. When I questioned this, since my periodontal status hasn't changed in years and I felt like I was being upsold....the dentist said well my house IS paid for and I am looking for a new Rolex.... I came in after extensive conversations with the front desk explaining my needs. I didn't feel like my needs were met. Their staff was extremely hard to work with not professional, and how they speak to you rather than getting treatment for what I came in for they suggested for me to spend thousands of dollars on a cleaning, luckily my insurance paid for some of it but it still ended up being over $650 for a visit when I came in for something completely different. They were unable to help me with to a specialist. They referred me to while seeing that specialist. I was told that none of the information was sent over and that they should've contacted prior to me making this appointment and they would've informed them that I was not a candidate and that they should try somewhere else if I were you, I'd stay very far away from this place . read more

The front desk people are very sweet but the people that clean and do all the work in your teeth suck! I also noticed that they always have workers changing. I got my teeth cleaned and left with bleeding mouth and crying cause the teeth pain! Very rough on the teeth. Also they always are trying to up sell us! Makenna had said we need to buy more to get the teeth cleaned properly. I wasn't trying to pay that so i asked to speak with the dentist. When i told him that my teeth look the same and don't need that. I had said this is dumb! you guys are always trying to upsell me! Then the dentist said ,"Well I don't think that's dumb! They overcharged me $1600 because they forgot to submit the claim to Tricare and then wouldn't pay me back the $800 I paid towards it even though they could have appealed it through Tricare. This place is beyond terrible! Almost two weeks ago they charged me $104 for some sort of anti bacterial rinse that I don't need and that I wasn't even sure they put on! My daughter went today, they tried to tell her she needs a $285 cleaning when she has beautiful teeth and good oral hygiene! Taking advantage of an 18 year old because her parent isn't there is just wrong. I won't even mention how much they want to charge to remove wisdom teeth with insurance...these people are thieves! I've been going to this office for years and really like Dr Ashraf and almost all the hygienists I've ever had. Over time I've developed an increasing number of chemical and neurological neurological sensitivities, and they've been very patient and accommodating, which is often not the case at medical offices for many of the people in the FB support group for my immune disease. Buyer beware! This place is horrible! They will overcharge you for unnecessary services. I paid a total of $1121 for routine cleaning. I have excellent oral hygiene. I floss and brush daily and get regular cleanings. I've never had issues with my teeth. The reason I was charged so much is that my dental claims are set up to auto-pay. When the shares hit, and my insurance denied the EXCESS of uncovered services, it took out over $1k from my account to satisfy "patient responsibility," and it's been a nightmare trying to get my money back, which hasn't happened. Their office manager Sandra told They bill and then accept payment as full of insurance denied, but since I was on auto-pay, it took my money. I was told on multiple occasions that the refund checks were sent out and they never arrived. Please be careful with this practice. It's a slimy mess! read more

Absolutely do not go here!!! They charged me 300 dollars for a CLEANING and that was after insurance. I was told I was in the early stages of periodontal disease and needed a "special cleaning" when 6 months prior my former dentist said my teeth looked great. I brush twice a day and floss yet somehow my teeth are rotting? I believe they took advantage of me because I am younger and they thought they could get away with it. In addition to that, they literally forgot about me after I checked in. Leaving me in a chair for my exam for 50 minutes, no exaggeration before I wandered into the hall and asked if they had forgotten about me... This office is always up selling you. It never is what they say. They are always saying you need extra things. I wish I could change dentists but this is the only one on our insurance plan. It has to be in the area you live. My husband doesn't use this dentist and pays out of pocket and it is far less. I am always declining their extra services always and they don't like it. Beware!! 15 minutes after I wrote this review I get a call arguing with me about what I wrote. If you look back on this site I am not the only one that feels this way. I wish I had come here to read other reviews before going to Tangerine Dental Group. It was also my experience: high pressure sales pitch for unnecessary treatment (they actually made me SIGN something to confirm I was declining their unnecessary treatment recommendation). They over charge big time. $3k for a teeth cleaning? $10k to remove a baby tooth and put in a single implant? No thank you. I also didn't like the doctors, spent maybe 2 minutes with us talking about me, my husband, and my daughters teeth. The dental assistant wasn't gentle at all. I haven't been to the dentist for a couple of years and was amazed how much things had changed. The team at Tangerine Dental totally amazed me. I have never been treated so well, I felt quite comfortable and relaxed. My confidence level was 10/10. They explained everything carefully, the manager gave me pricing options and I found the final cost remarkably manageable. No pain from the treatments or the extradition of my wallet! This dental office is awesome and we highly recommend them. We had never been here before and we're trying to find a dentist office at the end of the day after a tooth accident (someone that could do an emergency crown). They put us in for the very next day without hesitation. The dentist was able then after to recommend a better treatment plan / procedure for a more long term solution. It's obvious that this company cares and is not just in it for the money. They are fairly priced and provide maximum value. Pros: Clean office, nice staff, state of the art equipment. Hence the stars. Cons: Everyone that had posted about this being worse than a used car dealership are accurate. Before I even had my teeth cleaned, I had people in my face talking to me about financials regarding my need for a crown. Oddly enough, I could hear multiple other conversations in the office about others that also "needed" crowns and their finances. Then I was told I needed a special laser cleaning due to bacteria between my teeth. You can never get out of this place without paying extra out of pocket than what you went in anticipating. You sign documents right in the treatment chair for expenses. It's an incredibly uncomfortable experience. After two cleanings here, I've made the decision to start looking elsewhere. Stay far away!!! I wish I had read these reviews before going to this office. I moved back to Tucson and needed a dentist and was referred by a surgeon I trusted here to go to tangerine. It was just for a cleaning but I mentioned I was interested in Invisalign. They had me do the scans on the same visit (it took so long that it should have been my first hint because they didn't seem to know what they were doing) in fact I had to return a few days later and redo some of the scan with a different dentist at the practice. The next visit was a follow up for the treatment plan for invisalign to decide to move forward. I was told by Robert (office manager?) it would only take until the end of June (this was mid March) normally I would sleep on such a decision but since they said it would be so quick (i had braces as a teen so my teeth were straight i just had one tooth that had shifted) and I already had a surgery scheduled and figured I could be done with invisalign timed with my healing for surgery I signed up that day. Fast forward to May, during a check in visit for my invisalign trays I asked the dentist if I might be done early and he said "no you'll be done in November". This was the first I had heard this since it was the office manager(?) Robert who told me June. I contacted invisalign who told me they knew from the beginning it would be November because they get the treatment plan with that info then all the trays when I decide to move forward. Meaning 2 visits and 2 opportunities for them to be honest. I spoke to Robert who is extremely rude. He continued to talk over me, interrupt, change his story and became very defensive. He would say one thing, I would repeat it back then ask him to confirm, and he would repeat back something different. Since I could see I was getting nowhere with him and he seemed very well trained in conning people, I asked to speak to the dentist and told him I don't feel they are an honest practice and I'll take my trays and go get a second opinion. Which I did, With not only another dentist but also an orthodontist. Both agreed I should not continue wearing the trays as it would cause new problems like spacing and bite changes. The dentist actually said a cheaper and easier solution for the one tooth would have been to just get a veneer. (Less than $1000 vs $3000 for invisalign) This whole practice is a complete con and I've already contacted my attorney to deal with them. I have also purchased "tangerinedentalreviews.com". I've been in business myself for almost 20 years. I can't imagine treating customers like this. So if anyone would like to submit negative reviews i will be posting them on this website and having my marketing team use paid ads and SEO so people will always see what a shady practice this is. RUN in the opposite direction from this place! Today, I had to pay another dentist over $2000 to rectify the God awful job Tangerine Dental did on 2 crowns they put in my mouth. I went back multiple times when this was initially done, due to pain & discomfort. It went from bad to worse. I had an infection which, required antibiotics, I got TMJ syndrome from the 4.5 hours they had me in their chair on my 1st return visit, and I had two employees talking about me in a foreign language-while in the room with me. This was an absolute nightmare! There is NOTHING more insulting than having to pay THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS twice because the first Dentist did a crap job! They make used car salesmen seem passive. I have never been to a dentist before that tried to up-sell everything from the cleaning to the unnecessary fluoride (doesn't do much of anything for someone over 60) and laser gum treatment (no disease) to the unnecessary bone graph for an implant when there was no damage whatever to the existing bone. I also came away from those treatments with half a dozen little sores in my mouth the next day. Pretty scary. Avoid at all cost...wait, make that avoid the overcharging and go to a dentist who only provides necessary treatment, no matter how good your insurance is. read more

Tangerine Dental is the WORST. I'm taking care of a friend who just had oral surgery done. They told me NOTHING about after care, she was supposed to be sent home with gauze to repack the wounds that didn't happen! Thank goodness I have had the same surgery and know how to care for her! I had a Wonderful first-time experience at Tangerine Dental Group! Let me tell you how it went. I would highly recommend the dentist at Tangerine Dental Group. Dr. Ashraf and his team are amazing and wonderful. They did a great job at making the environment as calm and comfortable for me. More importantly, they were great at providing me options for my treatment. I can't stress this enough, but they gave me options WITHOUT being pushy at all! I would rather have the opportunity to pay extra for better treatment, than instead of having the insurance dictate the lesser quality. I have a personal philosophy of, if I'm going to have some medical treatment in my body, I want it to be given the option for the the best quality...especially if it involves my mouth! Dr. Ashraf was very gentle and thorough at explaining the different options for my treatment plan. I could tell immediately this was an up-scale fancy office where they knew their stuff. This was the first dental office I've ever been to where the dentist actually came out the waiting area and welcomed me! When he did that, I knew I was in good hands. As I was looking around the office I realized everyone there is on top of their game. This includes the lady who was even taking x-rays, and pictures of my teeth. She called it a 'toothbrush camera,' and I totally saw things I never knew were in my mouth! All the technology in this office makes me feel and in capable hands. The dentist also is super smart, but does a great job at explaining everything so even I could understand. He has these huge magnifying-microscopes he wears in front of his face, I can tell Dr. Ashraf is a perfectionist. I love this dental office as soon as I got there they new me by name, the dental assistant greeted me introduced herself with a huge smile. Very friendly staff the doctors put me at ease with my needed dental treatment. I love the fact that Wendy Maxwell the benefits coordinator gave me so much information regarding my dental insurance coverage for the needed dental treatment, she also explained that I have a maximum that I haven't used for my needed dental treatment. Most of us have dental insurance unaware of the coverages with our dental policy. Being the skeptical person that I am I call my dental insurance just to doublecheck and yes everything that she said was definitely true I definitely will be coming back to this office. This place is great! I followed Dr. Ashraf from his previous office Oracle Modern Dentistry to his new location at Tangerine Dental Group. (You can check my review there too, he's an awesome dentist!) The first thing I noticed is this new office has a gorgeous Catalina mountain view! But, the more importantly, I noticed is Dr. Ashraf has brought a lot of that same amazing culture to this office. He and his team are great at explaining everything from start-to-finish and calming any fears of going to the dentist. I'm a physician, and the technology this places uses is light years ahead of any other dentists I've visited. This place provides a lot of services, 3D x-rays photos, explaining what things are, etc, -and what's nice is the cost is the same price at any average exam at other places. (In fact, my visit at this office cost less than visits at other offices). They provide a lot of services, and they do a great job at making sure my personal cost is as low as possible. I don't know why everyone keeps mentioning the cost here, but this office is by far one of the cheapest dental offices I've been to- and they've provided me with more services than any of them!   The team here is very professional, and the chairs have movies available to watch. I'm in the east coast now, but every couple times a year, I come to Tucson just to get my check-up and cleaning. I make sure to visit this office; they are far cheaper and better equipped than a lot of other offices. Now, I should mention that when I was there, they do a great at explaining everything, but I NEVER felt pressured into buying anything. They're simply doing a critical part of their job at informing me of my clinical options.- as a physician I can completely understand. Patient negligence without being properly informed is a big deal in medicine. I felt no pain when he injected the numbing agent. I felt no discomfort during the work on my teeth. He walked me through the process. I've never had a experience this pleasant. I've always been anxious about going to the dentist.. But, I can tell you this place is amazing! When I had my appointment, I was immediately greeted by Dr. Ashraf in the waiting room. He calmed my anxiety and immediately made me feel less guilty of my neglected dental care. This office has it all! The modern technology was great! They took all these images and radiographs... there was no way they're were going to miss any of my dental problems. They even had this cool technology that took rotated around my face and took an imagine of my whole mouth. I'm currently a doctor too, and even I was taking blown away by the amount of technology they had available! The staff and front office are really good. They helped work with me to address the finances of everything. .. after reading all these bad reviews on here I have to say to me the prices were completely reasonable! They did a great job explaining what my insurance covers, and what to expect with my out-of-pocket expenses. As a member in the HealthCare Industry, I can tell you, this place does it right by maximizing my insurance benefits and limiting my out-of-pocket to as little as possible! They simple showed me what was recommended, and what was optional. I respect them so much for that transparency! The fees were super clear and at no point did I feel any pressure. This place is the best value! Ask for Sam (the manager) if you have any money questions. By the end, I got this laser treatment on my gums, and I swear, my gums have never felt cleaner! I HIGHLY RECOMMEND IT! I had never heard of it before but now, I would highly recommend this office to any of my family and friends, best visit to the dentist! SIDE NOTE: This office reports they are under new ownership as of 2015. I guess they used to have an out-of-state owner, but that seems to be different now! My return visit was just as wonderful as it was a few weeks ago! 4 crowns and they can make them right there in the office. Dr. Ashraf was very quick, gentle, and informative.
