There have been quite a few build your own malatang restaurants popping up so I was excited to see another one! You can choose your ingredients and then weigh it to charge you per pound. They have lots of options for veggies and protein, including sliced beef. They were running low on a few ingredients but they had most of the essentials out. My favorite was the tofu skins and wide rice noodles. You could also choose from a number of options for how the ingredients are cooked, including stir fried options or soup options. They were out of their most spicy soup, so I went with their original soup. What stood out to me most was how they topped their soup with a creamy peanut sauce, so the soup definitely tasted more creamy than other malatang restaurants. If you can't finish the bowl, they give you plastic containers and bags to go. It's located in the Dayou grocery store food court, so you can easily access it before or after shopping.

So good! Especially on a cold winter day. You get to pick everything that goes into your bowl and choose your broth. I got the tom yum which was not too spicy but not too plain either. Also they give you a cup of rice if you get at least a pound of food. Everything is 13.99 per lb. The woman working the counter was very thorough at explaining the process. My only gripe is more with myself- I wish I was more familiar with all the ingredients! Will definitely be back!

Amazing food, especially for the winter!! Going in I was hesitant because I was only given a bowl to put ingredients in for the malatang. However, the service was quick and the broth is so flavorful. I also just love the entire vibe of the dayou plaza. It really brings out a welcoming atmosphere, particularly Asians due to a variety of options to choose from. I highly recommend going to try the malatang in the winter, especially if you are alone and want to have hotpot!!!

Flavor was good. Noodles were way over cooked. Potatoes were hard and raw. Chicken was chewy not well cooked

Baking macarons is a tricky thing and Damaris did such a good job breaking down all the steps. She gave us lots of tips and tricks for our home baking, and you can see her passion for what she does. That said, I have been to several of the cooking schools in Columbus and this was my least favorite overall attendee experience. It was more expensive, yet very "basic" for lack of a better word. All of the cooking classes I have attended come with some kind of amenities - a welcome cocktail, wine bar, cheese and crackers, hot coffee/tea, etc. Something. This class was three hours long and there was nothing offered but water and iced tea (on a 20 degree day). We also did not receive any kind of information prior to the class, so parking was like solving a mystery (hint: the parking lot is behind the house down a side alleyway)

Did you recently get a new golf shirt? Maybe a new pair of Dockers that you desperately want to…read moreshow off? The Columbus Fish Market is the place for you. The first thing you need to know is that the Columbus Fish Market is NOT a fish market. It is an upper middle class seafood restaurant. It has all the trappings of a country club restaurant which is to say, comfort reigns here at a slightly elevated price. I can't really complain, our server was sweet and attentive. The manager checked on us. The food was tasty, the drinks were very good. I don't know it was just... nothing special. Let's put it this way, a few weeks ago I was in Ocean City, MD and we stopped at a crab shack where they put paper on the table and we ate like Neanderthals who just discovered that crabs were edible. We made the kind of mess that only long married couples with kids can make. Crab shells and shrimp tails were flying. That meal lives rent free in my brain. Damn it was good, but I digress. See there are places you take family, and places you take a first date. The crab shack is for family, The Columbus Fish Market (still not a fish market) is where you take a first date assuming she is not allergic to seafood. The ambiance just lacks character and charm in an inoffensive way. As Shakespeare once wrote, "nothing is either good nor bad, but thinking makes it so" and I am not sure even thinking can move the needle on this place. Did I mention it is not a fish market? Ok, ok, the food. Yes, I got the Cajun swordfish and a little gem side salad. That followed the spicy crispy shrimp appetizer. All were very good. I recommend the shrimp if you end up here. The Cajun swordfish was well seasoned and only ever-so-slightly overdone. It was good, to be sure but a minute too far. The sear was great though, crisp and flavorful. The little gem salad was a great compliment to the main. I love a good salad. I also tried my daughter's Caesar salad and my wife's tomato, bacon, Bibb wedge salad. Skip the Caesar and get one of the others, especially if you like a good Caesar. Overall the food was very good and I should probably give this place four stars. I dont know, I'm feeling salty. Drinks, drinks, drinks. My daughter recommends the berry lemon drop. I got a Sam Adams which was one of four or five bees on tap. Four or five. The wine list was extensive so do with that what you will. Pretty good for (not a) fish market. Finally, finally, finally. What the hell is the name of this place? Mitchell's Seafood something-or-other comes up in searches but the sign says Columbus Fish Market. "There are no spare customers." -Timon J. Fertitta (owner) Google him.

Pretty loud and hard to hear, but that vibe is OK for a boil place to me. Only waited about 15 minutes. Two adults, two elementary kids. I like Lees of all the boil places because they have good options for non seafood people too. Both kids found wings, chicken fettuccini, etc. Started with the hushpuppies, about 12 smallish sized but a perfect starter for 4 people. Came with ketchup, I wish they would do a remoulade option. My wife and I split the duo (snow crab, shrimp) and I decided to add a LB of blue crab. Medium homemade juice sauce (always....it's sooo damn good). Snow crab was really good this time, snappy not bendy like some places. knuckles sweet and not overly briny. Perfectly cooked and came apart and out easily. Shrimp were just a tad overcooked but not much. Potatoes were perfect. We sub +1 tater for the egg. Corn is never good at these places. :) gotta do those fresh not frozen to get it right. The blue crab had good flavor. However, crazy overcooked which made getting meat out damn near impossible. Stringy instead of in chunks and stuck totally to the shell. I mostly gave up. My biggest complaint is they have ZERO typical utensils. No crackers/pickers/hammers/etc. I managed to cut myself trying to get into a snow crab large claw, and the lack of pickers made the blue crab impossible to eat. I'm bringing my own next time....serious. Finished with the fried oreos which were a perfect finish to the meal. 6 oreos for $6 was a great price.

Tiny, carryout only, though there are a couple of tables to sit while you wait or maybe to eat a quick lunch. Super friendly staff. Fairly short menu; all the good stuff. I wasn't famished and didn't want to wait for chicken or fish, so I got an assortment of sides thinking that would be quicker. They fried up the okra right then, though, and had a steady stream of pickup orders coming through the door, so it still took 10-15 minutes. It was okay, though, smelling the amazing scents coming from the kitchen, talking to the staff and customers. I hadn't noticed they have ribs (just a picture, not on the menu) so I might've ordered those. Oh well. $20 I think, or they do combos with sides or fish and sides. Anyway. I got fried okra, and it was a big portion and absolutely amazing. No need for any sauces, tasty on its own. Perfectly crisp. Baked beans: my style, sauce so thick you can eat them with a fork. Slightly sweet, mostly savory, very good. Greens (collards) with turkey: outstanding. Tender but not floppy, nicely seasoned. Cornbread: soft, sweet, crumbly, topped with butter. Yum. Geechee rice: seasoned, bacon and sausage, very good. And black-eyed pea salad. I like black-eyed peas but had never had them in a salad. These were great: plump, with bits of tomato and cucumber and onion, in a vinegary dressing. Again, yum. Enough food for two meals. They gave me the side plate special, three sides and cornbread, which helped with the price. I was headed home and not thirsty so I didn't get a drink, but based on conversations with other customers I missed out on the lemonade and sweet tea. I'll be back for those and maybe a rib-fish combo. And to try the mac. Get here if you can!
