Okay, this place is fabulous. I tried the two most popular empanadas, mild steak and spicy chicken. Both were literally mouthwatering delicious. The spicy chicken isn't overwhelmingly spicy & the steak one had the most amazing savory sauce in it. My friend tried the butternut squash one and said it was really good as well. The server was the owners daughter, she was so nice and informative! I asked about the wine selection, but ultimately got this strawberry gin cocktail and it was dangerously good. I asked her about the spices and she told me they import everything - the oregano, paprika, peppers, and even the empanada dough! The restaurant is very clean and has nice cultural decor. A table next to us had a chicken dish of some sort that looked so good - needless to say I'll be back to try that. Stumbled on this little gem after a Costco run in St. Pete. My husband and I LOVE empanadas, and have yet to find a good Argentinian restaurant in the general STL region. We tried 6 different empanadas, 2 cocktails, and the saffron rice. The only one we weren't crazy about was the ham/cheese/pineapple combo, but probably because it was the most Americanized tasting one to us. We even ended up ordering a jar of their mild chimichurri to go because it was so delicious. The empanadas are also imprinted with which type of filling they have, making it super easy to split and share them. I ordered pick up after doing one of my jobs at Schnucks. It was really easy to get to since it's right across the street. I ordered online through Yelp and it was ready within five minutes. The prices are between $3.50 to four dollars. I would say that for the quality it definitely is worth it. I just drove by and saw TANGO this afternoon and my wife, son and I went back for dinner. I was skeptical and asked someone walking out with carry out if it was a good place and he said it was fantastic. I ask him what he recommended and he said everything was great. So we went in and found out it is family owned and operated. It was absolutely the cleanest restaurant I've seen. The owners came over and explained the menu to us. The were very nice and took great pride in their restaurant. We ordered 12 empanadas and 2 Argentinian beers. The food was excellent and the beers were too. I would say the price was ok but well worth it for the excellent food, drinks, service and prompt attention we were given from the owners. We had such a wonderful experience here. We started with 5 empanadas and 2 Argentina beers. As for the beers, the Red Ale was mid, but I thought the Bock was exceptional. We started with a Tuna, Spicy Chicken, Spicy Steak, Spicy Beef, and Ham Pineapple and Cheese. My husbands d I agree that the tuna was our least favorite; not for lack of anything but honestly we just aren't hugs tuna people. Our absolute favorite was the ham, cheese, and pineapple. All very good but none beat the ham, cheese, and pineapple. Everything was flavorful and had a good amount of spice without being unpleasant. Empanadas are one of my love languages and the ones at Tango are everything! As soon as you walk in, I felt like I was back in Buenos Aires. The Argentinian flag was everywhere and in their pictures on the wall, there were so many places that I actually visited while in Buenos Aires and that was really cool to see. Mrs. Stella (one of the owners) is super sweet and she went over the menu with me and we had a great conversation about our times in Buenos Aires. Not only are all of their empanadas freshly made to order but the dough and the spices that Tango uses are all imported. I could tell too because the flavor in these empanadas just hit differently. So excited to visit the new location with a dining room. The decor is fantastic, they really did a wonderful job with the dining room and counter. Plenty of seating, with 4 big flat screens playing soccer, and tango dance competitions. Music playing. The menu is expanded from the previous location, but very similar, pretty much all empanadas, but a lot of variety of flavors and ingredients. Some interesting choices. The food is all made to order and served hot and fresh. Both spicy and mild dishes were served, along with a caprese (which was delicious!). The empanadas are a little on the small side, you will want 3 or more per person for a meal. But it's a great way to try a bunch of different flavors!! He prefers the 2 spicy empanadas and the onion one so that's what I ordered. (Wouldn't have picked the onion on my own.) We had mixed opinions on our favorites but enjoyed them all. The dining area is very nicely decorated, super clean and orderly. I walked up to the counter and met a very nice man, I believe he is the owner. I told him this was my first visit, but have heard great things about Tango. He opened the menu in front of me and began telling me about it, and about all the authentic Argentinian ingredients. The prices are really reasonable and I chose four different empanadas to try. My food was brought out and each one was prepped differently as far as the shape of the fried dough. I was told they are deep fried. Amazingly, they were not at all greasy. I was also told what each of the empanadas were since you can't really tell when looking at them. I took my first bite and was hooked. Delicious! The golden brown dough was fried to perfection.
