While out in the Wildwood area, I decided to stop in and try out Vallarta. This establishment tucked away on the end corner in this little complex, seemed promising enough. Upon entering i was greeted quickly and sat just as quickly, both good things. I had just started to look at the menu when the choose and salsa arrived and so did the wait staff to ask if I was ready to order. Sadly I was not as i had just been seated. I asked her to return in a few minutes, and quickly scanned the menu to find something. I chose a dish that had a beef burrito and a chile releno, along with a chile poblano at 10.99. The order arrived at my table quickly. I could not help but notice how much melted cheese was on the plate, the chile poblano had no flavor except for cheese. The chile releno was more of the same. The beef burrito was pretty much the standard ground beef burrito with the beef having no real flavor. The chips were a bit stale and the salsa very bland. Overall a very average to just below average meal experience at a Mexican restaurant.

Vallarta is a hidden gem located in a strip mall off of a side street near Manchester road. The appearance inside doesn't do much to elevate the ambiance of a strip mall restaurant, however, the food at Vallarta's is full of flavor and value. I dined here with my wife and ordered a Vallarta Burrito and a side soft beef taco. The taco was stuffed full of very flavorful beef and plenty of cheese. The beef in the burrito was equally flavorful and I was very impressed with the seasoning on the refried beans and Mexican rice. Too often, these side are blah....but not here, they are full of flavor. I can't overemphasize how tasty the food is here and at the same time, many of the entrees are less than $10. This place has great food, great value and offers great service with a smile. If you haven't tried this place and you like Mexican food, you need to give Vallarta's a shot.

Taco salad with unseasoned meat in queso (?) just tasted like a bland slimy something.

Incredibly bland food. Oddly enough, even the sauces didn't have much flavor either. My 12 year old said he had to force himself to eat the bland food and I kept thinking it's just fuel. The waitress didn't want to acknowledge we weren't happy with the slop. Paid our check and bailed to eat somewhere else. (Would leave a zero a star if it left me.)

Went here for Cinco De Mayo. Although, it was crowded food came out in a reasonable time. I understand every waiter and waitress was busy, but we never even received water or silverware. It took us asking another waiter to receive silverware. Still no water, though. We ordered the Special Combination Fajitas and Vallarta Burrito. Good food, overall.

Their servers are prepared to answer any questions you have. I've never had food like I've enjoyed at Malinche! Every menu item has so much traditional flavor with a modern spin. Not only is the food delicious but it is plated with culinary vision like art on a plate. Menu items are designed to be shared which we love we can try multiple things. Monday and Tuesday are the only days of the week they serve tacos but you will not be disappointed by their other menu items! The name choice Malinche pays homage to a historically significant and often misunderstood female figure in Mexican history who after being sold in slavery to the Spaniards acted as a key translator and advisor during the Spanish conquest of the Aztec Empire. By naming the restaurant Malinche, it is the family's ode to their mother and head chef Doña María Gutiérrez Molina. Once your dining experience is over and you step back outside, you'll have forgotten you were eating in Ellisville and not Mexico City!

The menu is massive, and they have a ton of margaritas and other cocktails (sadly I couldn't enjoy this time - had to drive). I tried the Camarones à la diabla and the enchiladas verde. Both were very good. The enchilada verde sauce was really tasty complimented the meat and cheese well. The camarones à la diabla was also delicious, and not overwhelmingly spicy. They moved to this location and friends had been and said how much they enjoyed it so we decided to give it a try. It was good - not our favorite Mexican restaurant by any means. I'd probably give it 3.5 stars if Yelp would let us do half stars! It was crowded and loud. We got one of the last available tables. We had to wait a bit for a server, but once she came over, she did a great job. We ordered cocktails and queso to start. I usually like a prickly margaritas but I didn't enjoy this one. It was way too sweet and something else that I couldn't put my finger on. My husband ordered the spicy house margarita and said it was okay. It's made from a mix and that's not his preference. He asked for salt on the rim and they put tajin on instead. Our server caught after she brought it over, but he just kept that one instead of sending it back. The queso was good. It had a little kick. I would have liked it to be a little thicker because it was dripping everywhere. The salsa is pretty good as well - it also had a little spice to it. We both liked our entrees. I got the pork and pineapple tacos. The pork had great flavor, but was slightly dry and there should have been more pineapple. By the time we left there were a lot of people waiting for tables! We'd probably go back!

For a Mexican restaurant, we were surprised that frozen margaritas were not available or an option. As a pescatarian, I also found the menu to be very limited, which made it difficult for me to find something appealing. We were looking forward to enjoying dinner there, but ultimately decided not to stay because the menu just did not meet our expectations. That said, the ambiance and customer service were exceptional, so I'd still encourage others to check it out and decide for themselves.

Just wish that the appetizer came out before the food, but it was still really enjoyable. I got a chicken taco and the other person in my party got three different tacos. The crunchy taco is like a rolled taco that's crunchy. And he said it was the best taco all over them. He got. My chicken taco was OK. The salsa definitely helped otherwise it was too dry. We decided to get the dessert of the churros to go. I didn't get a picture of them, but they were really small. And for the price, I don't remember what it was. I think it was like five dollars. I thought it would be a little bit bigger. I don't know if I would get it again because there was also a sweet heat about them and I just was not expecting that.
