First time trying! I didn't know what to expect. But if you've ever had Costa Rican food, It's like that. Be careful with the sauces that come with it, get it on the side! Delicious! Order the whole red snapper (Pargo) and an order of Honduran taco and order of Mexican tacos. I will have to go back and try some mixed drinks - I noticed they have several Honduran liquor options. Honduran tacos were reminiscent of taquitos w chicken inside. Food 3/5: I'd recommend the Pargo Rojo ( pan fried whole red snapper) on a bed of banana chips served along with salad, rice and bean. Fish was quite small but I liked the texture and it was flavorful. Wings were coated with too much flour made them hard to eat. Pollo con tajadas was saucy and but the fried chicken failed me again. This might be my 5 or 6 times here. It is right around Dorset and 270 next to the business area. I never had bad food. We tried the chicken, steak, pork steak, fried snapper, etc. we always saw many people from Latin America which means the food is authentic. The price is very acceptable and they give you a lot! Huge plate! My favorite side dish is fried plantain chips! Ask them put the sauce on the side so they do not get soggy. They also have a small area selling snacks- I can't read anything. Such a treat to stumble on sabor k tracho restaurant. It's really busy on a Sunday. It tells this is authentic when almost all customers are from Mexico / S America. The ambience is very casual. Service is quite slow upon our visit. The Sunday special is lobster seafood soup. It's completely packed with seafood, bread fruit and corns. Can't get better than this! Amazing food! The restaurant was not too busy during lunch time on a Monday. Service was very prompt and friendly, and food came out not too long after ordering, piping hot. I really love the freshness of the slaw that appears in some of their dishes, like the pastelitos. The pollo con Tajadas is a sight to behold and very comforting. Run don't walk! This place is truly incredible! I remember reading about this restaurant in Sauce Magazine over a year ago and was intrigued because I had never had Honduran cuisine before. Today, I arrived at about a quarter after and was the first person in the restaurant. As to not take up space, I chose to sit at the bar. I was immediately greeted with water and she let me look over the menu. Right away, I noticed they had different colored juices and then all of a sudden I had a sudden craving for passion fruit juice! On a whim, I asked to see the drink menu and chose to get a passion fruit margarita. I purposely skipped breakfast because I knew I'd be coming here, but while still wanting to keep on the healthy side, I chose the Desayuno Hondureno. After a few minutes, my drink was ready. It tasted even better than expected but let's be honest, can you really go wrong with anything passion fruit? I sipped that while looking around. The chimichurri on top was an added bonus. The maduros were some of the best I've ever had; Not too oily, perfect crisp and oh, so good! Since they don't allow substitutions, I got a side of rice and vegetables since I didn't want the refried beans that came w/ the dish. I couldn't remember why I don't like refried beans but I ended up trying them and they weren't bad! The rice and vegetables were good, too! I cleared majority of what was on my plate with the exception of two maduros. I then asked for the check and gave her my card. While waiting for it to be ran, I asked her about the other two juices that were next to the passion fruit, She said the brown one was tamarind (which I had never had) and the other was blackberry. She was kind enough to let me sample both and let me sample them in some of the coolest shot glasses I've ever seen. Both juices were delicious! I told her this was my first time here and she made recommendations for next time. From the price of the food, to the service, to the food itself, everything was a 5 out of 5. I've never had Honduran food before, so I thought I'd give it a try. We went on a Sunday night and it was packed with families. There were multiple TVs with sports playing, as well as a stocked bar area. One thing I noticed is that the portion size for each dish is pretty big. The food also takes a little while to come out but it's totally worth it to know it's being cooked fresh. I ordered the Pollo con Tajadas and absolutely loved it! It's fried chicken over a bed of fried plantains with a savory sauce and pickled onions to balance out all the flavors. My husband and I try to do a monthly dinner with a couple friends - we're in the city and they're in O'Fallon so this area tends to be a good middle ground. They suggested this spot and were so glad they did! My husbands mom lives around the corner and we would have NEVER thought to try it otherwise. The place is pretty small, but we went on a Sunday and there didn't seem to be a lot of people, so we were seated immediately and had great service. My only complaint was it felt like they were out of a lot of things, which felt weird. We ended up getting a couple tacos and the chicken and both were fantastic. Great flavors, huge portions. Let me tell you. This food was immaculate. We got the tacos hondureños (rolled tacos and put all pickled veggies and sauce on side just in case Ronin didn't like it), costillas de res con tajadas (beef ribs with chimichurri, some amazing butter sauce, and their signature sauce , and pollo con tajadas (fried chicken with the same thing as the ribs had on them). It was fresh (you will wait longer than 5 minutes, don't freak out), so tasty, and we had HUGE portions. We brought home chicken and 3 of the rolled tacos. Service was fantastic. I can't remember the name of everything ordered but the appetizer chips with beans to share were great. I had a pork tamal and the appetizer size plantains. So so good. This place is amazing. When I'm out of town I like trying places and local eateries. Generally I try to avoid Mexican food outside of border states. But I figured why not. When I got here there was nothing I could identify on the menu. No burritos or chimichangas. No tacos. So I was confused then I saw a dish that the description of banana chips, grilled pork etc. caught my eye. I asked the waitress just where this food is from. She told me it was from Honduras . Now I've never had Honduran food before. But the flavors are delicious, there picante sauce was not spicy at all but truth is it didn't need to be. The flavors do well on their own. I had the pollo con tajadas, which is fried chicken on a bed of banana chips (really bananas sliced thin lengthwise. It was a leg and thigh quarter that was crispy fried with juicy meat. The chicken wasn't especially large, but that was fine since there was a huge amount of banana chips, cabbage salad, pico de gallo, and pickled onions below. It was quite filling. The chicken and chips were topped with a tasty tomato sauce/dressing mix. This is a good dish. The wife ordered two asada tacos Mexicanos. They were tasty, too, but there was quite a bit of gristle in the meat. So that meant a lot of the meat went uneaten. A couple at the next table ordered the Pollo Asado with White meat and it looked great so we both ordered one. The bed of bananas was not what I expected, but honestly potatoes and rice can move aside holy yummy! The sauce, chicken, vegetables (I'm assuming pickled red onions) and other veggies were just super delicious. We were on a roll this weekend with best meals ever and this meal is now in my top 10 meals ever in my life, including while I lived in Europe. Okay so the rice on the side was kinda so so, but I don't think that actually came with the meal and I couldn't finish the meal anyways so I'm going to give them a pass.
