I called to ask if someone could look at my car due to my maintenance light coming on ... a man informed me that i need an oil change when i INSISTED i needed him to evaluate it due to just gettin an oil change last month and only have driven 1,000 miles. He showed me my oil which was empty and said because my car is old it burns oil faster and i need to upgrade my oil. I informed him i know my car and it is not riding correctly and making a rattling noises and asked him again to take a look at it. He grabbed a piece of cardboard and peaked underneath and said you just need an oil change. I called my husband ... we both agreed get a second opinion .. i took my car to a different shop and turns out ....... I NEED TO REPLACE THE ALTERNATOR and i have a leak in my power steering hose. SUMMARY: Top notch honest, friendly and better than fair diagnosis. DETAILS: I live in Arlington, VA, and was going to sell my Nissan 350Z today. I drove the car during rush hour to the buyer's bank near Largo Town Center in MD to close the deal. I couldn't believe it as my car started making a noise moments before the buyer arrived, and it turned out that the radiator fan motor was faulty and the car nearly overheated. The buyer very understandably is concerned, and decided to wait until I resolved the issue. I was fearful of trying to drive the car back to Arlington without having a shop look at the problem (and possibly repair it). I drove to nearby Tanzania Auto Repair. The mechanic took time to diagnose the problem, but unfortunately was unable to repair the car until late that day or possibly the next day. I had an appointment in Arlington soon, and he said due to the nature of the problem, it would probably be OK to drive it back as long as I was moving and not sitting in traffic (he was right). He did not charge me for the diagnosis despite spending a good amount of time helping me, and knowing that I live in Arlington it was unlikely that I'd be bringing it back to MD for repairs. If I lived nearby, this would be my first choice for auto mechanic. read more

Had my truck towed to this shop a few weeks ago because my car wouldn't start. Told the owner/mechanic the symptoms. He called me after a few hours later and told me my engine was locked up. He also told me he didn't have equipment to pull engine out to test for transmission or engine lockup. It cost me $100 to tow it to him, and another $100 to tow it back once he said the engine was locked up. On top of the $70 fee he charged me to look at truck. I went they all that to find out now that, the water pump is the problem and my engine is not locked up. I talked to a friend, who had me start the car, while in neutral and low and behold it started. I then started it regular in Park as well. I say all this to say, I wasted my money on this shop because they know nothing about fixing cars apparently. My radiator needs flushing along with the water pump replacement and I'll be fine. Please do not trust this place with your car repair. I lost time and a lot of money trusting them. I even spoke back to him today, and all he could say was that's weird that you got it to start. I even spoke to him about replacing the water pump since he didn't get it all right the first time and he said not today call me back another day. SMH read more

1st let me speak on how nice the owner is. My car was in bad condition and they were about to close but because my situation was so dangerous they actually stayed and repaired my car. He even had one of his workers drive me home and drop me off even though it was right down the street. So don't get any ideals. But I had already had a friend estimate the cost of the repairs and this place gave me that exact amount so I know they weren't trying to over charge me. I have taken my car here more than once and plan to take it back for other repairs. I am so happy I found them! You won't be sorry for using them. read more

This place is the best. I was having a problem with my car and this shop is the only place that took the time to diagnose my problem with care. I took my car to the Honda dealership and sat there for 6 hours and Honda diagnosed my problem saying that I was missing front and side engine mount. I got that fixed and the problem was still there which means honda didn't take time to care for my car or me as the customer. Don't always trust these dealership there about money.
