This business has changed greatly for the worse since the new owners took over in 2023. Before, I would trust this BMW shop but now, it's a no. The front desk associate laughs at customers as they react to the prices of their repairs (which are VERY EXPENSIVE). I'm not feeling comfortable taking my BMW there anymore. I gave this place a shot to help me fix a valvetronic system in my car and they didn't do anything to fix it. The car died a couple of days after I took it out the shop and they had it for more than a month quoting me completely different prices for things that didn't even correlate to one another. Avoid giving these guys your business that was 6 thousand dollars down the drain for me don't be their next victim. read more

I needed some suspension work done on my 2007 BMW X5 and my brother in-law who owned BMWs for many years recommended Einstein's. They did a great job, at a reasonable price, and were pretty fast. Communication was great as they were prompt with providing recommended service and status updates. I also appreciated that they were honest about services that were worth doing and those that were not worth doing (based on the age of the car). Finding a BMW repair shop that you can trust is very important because these cars become money pits the older they get. Having a shop that will look you in the eye and tell you that something is not worth the money is important for me. The guys that work there are really nice and knowledgeable. If you have an older BMW I would definitely recommend them! read more

I had a pretty awful experience with Einstein's auto repair. I went there to get my '02 M3 repaired because I was under the impression that their service would be top notch. The issue is that I didn't know what was actually wrong with the car, so I left it to them to find out. Unfortunately, I made the mistake of telling them I'd do whatever it takes to get my beloved car running again. I guess they saw this as an opportunity to gouge me for everything they could. First they told me I needed a new transmission, then I needed to replace parts of the engine. My last call with them, they tried to convince me that the computer needed to be replaced on the car. When I told them I didn't have enough money to pay for to have the computer repaired, guess what? Turns out the computer didn't need to be replaced afterall. The real kicker is that after spending over $5,000 to get my car repaired, having half the engine replaced, and having to wait weeks for them to complete all this, the car still had issues. This time, I took the car to nationally known repair shop. They said the issue was that the alternator needed to be replaced. It was a simple alternator issue all along. Needless to say, after having the alternator replaced, I didn't encounter any issues with the car running again. I would definitely avoid this repair shop as they will seek to take advantage of you, and will tell you your car issues just to increase their labor hours and charge you more. Perhaps, you've seen those investigative shows that expose utility workers as scammers for fabricating problems to ramp up their charges? My experience at Einstein's was eerily reminiscent of those shows. read more

I have a strange and odd BMW, I was given the shop's name as a recommendation for this weird California top repair. Then a few members of the BMW CCA recommended the shop due to their ability to work on vintage and antique BMW's, at a fair price. I took my 96 to them and it stayed 3 weeks, what was done and recommendations by Mr Davis I am so happy. My car drives so nice and the front end it quiet. I will return for repairs on the vehicle from now on. read more

Gary is great!!!! Very knowledgeable and honest. We've had our 2006 X5 in a few times... always treats us well, responds really quickly via phone and he gets jobs done quickly. If you bring the car in for one problem he looks over everything and will tell you if there are other repairs he suggests or things you don't need to worry about but may need fixing in the future.... I purchased a second hand BMW a few months ago and I wasn't looking forward to the potential maintenance costs. A friend recommend Einstein's to me and I called them yesterday to make an appointment for my first oil change. They were able to take me this morning at 8am and they changed the oil while I waited. I was back on 495 by 9 am. The cost was a third what the dealer wanted. A great experience so far. I met two people this morning, I believe one was the owner. Both were easy to work with and extremely knowledgeable about all things BMW. And we shared some non-car related interests, so I enjoyed our conversation. The best review I can give is that the gentleman here are very honest. I bring my car for any problems and scheduled maintenance and there quality of work is great. I had an issue that was separate from the maintenance that i needed but since the work done was in the same area they didn't charge me twice for labor just for the parts. It is so difficult to find a good, trustworthy mechanic for an "expensive to maintain" German auto. That is EXACTLY what I found with these guys. I'm so glad someone referred them to me. I called the closest BMW dealership to me for a quote on some routine maintenance, brakes. I was quoted a rate. I called Einstein for the exact same thing and the quote was nearly $200 lower. I couldn't believe it! While working on my brakes, I was called back into the bay and was shown the need for a cv boot replacement very soon in order to avoid an expensive repair. Everything was explained to me and I immediately said to myself, this is my mechanic for life! I could not have asked for a better experience. So glad I went here! read more

This shop came through with fair price, quick service, and a great referall for towing that was both cheap and professional. I think the 1st time I went I was not being fair in my evaluation. These guys are top notch. I can say that they earned a customer for life the other day. I had an awful sound coming from my front end and went to the dealership to get diagnostic testing done. I was selling my 99 328I and Amr from this shop contacted me to buy it. I had the car for several years and knew every inch of it, or so I thought. He put it on the hoist and diagnosed every fault I had known about and a couple I didn't in less than 10 minutes. We agreed on a fair price and I had a good feeling about the transaction so when I bought an 04 M3 I took it to them for the inspection. Again he found every fault quickly and helped me to negotiate a better price. The shop did the work in my M3 and for a very fair price and they did it quickly. This was back in 2006 and I've been a customer every since. They've always taken great care of me and recently did an inspection II on my 99 M3 convertible for about half of what the stealer would of charged. I can't recommend these guys enough. read more

This place is a complete rip off that consistently tries to scam people into paying much more for services that should not cost much at all. I originally went there to get my window regulator replaced. They quoted me at $300. This is something I fixed myself for $25 and 3-5 hours of online research/actually working on my car at e46fanatics. I would have paid $100, no problem. The guy tried to convince me that my motor was faulty, I know it wasn't. I decided to give them the benefit of the doubt and try them another time. I had got a flat tire and wanted to just replace all 4 tires. (Note I had an airbag warning light on from when I did my window regulator* but I didn't tell them that). They tried to tell me that my head curtain airbag went off when I hit that pot hole (it didn't) and they had to replace all of that and quoted me at an absurd $800. Afterwards I did some research and found that airbag online varying from $35(ebay) to $90 (OEM, various). The installation procedure takes about an hour. Who charged $700/hr labor? And that is IF the airbag was indeed set off.. but it wasn't because I know I set it of while fixing my window. -.- A third time I went there was after someone hit and run on my car. My hood was indented and my radiator was pushed into the engine but the car ran perfectly. I know a little bit about cars and I figured I would need a new radiator, fans, etc. That total would be about $800 plus labor which I figured was going to be no more than $1200, so I had $2,000 total ready to pay them. Before I went over there and I had already opened the hood 20 different times post accident to assess the damages and amazingly the hood latch and everything was working fine, despite being indented a little bit. When I got there they asked me to pop the hood, which I did myself, no problem. Later I closed it and they asked to see something again, so I went into the car to hit the hood release and the guy fucking grabs the hood and makes a show out of being unable to lift the hood and then FUCKING RIPS OUT MY CHROME GRILL breaking it. And laughs with his buddy about "oh told you it was broken, har har har" .. are you fucking kidding me? I opened it myself 2 second later without a problem. I think he thinks I didn't see him break it because I was in the drivers seat hitting the hood release. Fuck these guys. Oh and they are in cahoots with the meinike body shop across the way. The two of them work together so they tell you the same thing is wrong and they can both jack up prices on you. Anyways, these guys tried to convince me that my BMW was totaled! $5,000+ in damages plus labor (Does this look TOTALED to you? Everything works, drove it back from DC like this, headlights and everything - http://i.imgur.com/zzivJXn.png ). Hmm, I've fixed my car myself in about 3 days of work (look up radiator replacement DIY) and $750 in parts and $250 in shipping and paid my friend who is a mechanic to help me $250 for one part (~3 hours) I needed a second set of hands for (offered $500 but he wouldn't take it). So total $1,250. Please Einstein explain to me how this would have cost you $5,000+? Fucking scam artists. * --for that procedure you have to disconnect an airbag while the battery is off to access/replace the regulator. I plugged the battery back in before reconnecting the airbag to test the window--it worked-- but the airbag light came on for a missing airbag. The only way to remove the light is with a special tool to flash it that most BMW shops have). read more

Whenever I've had a light come on the dash, I bring it to these guys. They are more like a friend that will tell you what's wrong with your car, than an auto shop. They've never charged me for diagnosing problems. They tell you what's wrong before beginning any work and prices here are very fair and beat pretty much all other BMW shops in the DC area.
