Now that I no longer live in Edmond, I really miss the food and the service of Tao Cafe. I started going to Tao way back when they originally opened and had little to no customers. I am so proud of how they've grown from a little hole in the wall to a super cool establishment that had to expand because they're so great. I love the style of the food. How it comes in the little bento box style platters. Each item separated by the partitions in the bento box is finished with style and the flavors of everything separate is so good as well as the flavors together meld really well. They are always more than happy to change items to be more vegetarian or if you'd like a different style of sauce (brown or white or etc). I've had just about everything at Tao and it's delicious. I think several people have mentioned the boba and bubble teas. I love the green apple and grape. I was skeptical about mixed jellies but those are super good too. The hot black tea is amazing as well. It's so flavorful and just undescribable. I asked the owner if I could buy some of the tea and she sold me a big mason jar of it for a few dollars and it tastes just as extraordinary at home. I haven't lived in OKC now for 3 years and I still have some of the black tea in the jar because I'm so afraid to drink the last bit because it's soooooo good. I almost feel like I'm not paying enough when I leave Tao, since their prices are so reasonable. The atmosphere is great and authentic. It's even more cool when the students from UCO come over and fill the place up and laugh and carry on in their native languages. My husband and I eat here way too much. We love their food, especially their bento boxes! The prices are awesome for the amount of food we got. Today we ordered Peking shrimp and bamboo shoots with pork bento box. Bento boxes comes with soup, fried spring roll, and cream cheese wonton . They were both delicious today. We used to order the bubble tea drinks a lot, but I guess they have new owners and they do not taste the same like it used too. The milk teas are on the bland side now. They have great customer service. Every time we come eat here, the food comes out really fast. Comes out fast and fresh! We love the environment and their great staffs. read more

This was the worst experience ever and my first ever bad customer service ugh I dont even know where to start.... frist of all our appetizers came after our main meal, the guy told us it was almost out but it took 15 mins no joke then we later ordered 2 drink the girl had to get the paper to write down the order rather them memorizing them.... but after that we had waited another 20mins let me just tell you this there was only like 5 customers there during the time also our waiter was the worst she acted like she didnt even care about us which made me angry but im the end the boba was terrible the boba all stuck together and it was very watery im just so disappointed cuz the one i went in yukon was the best!!! So i suggest going to yukon rather then edmond, the one is yukon is the best!!! read more

This place is a favorite of mine when it first opened up.. And for some reason, it kind of fell off the radar for me. However, I went back this weekend with a friend, and it was just as good as I remember. My go to food is the sesame rice box, and I get an extra cheese wonton instead of the spring roll. Those cheese wontons, let me tell you, you need them in your life! SO yummy. My friend got the General Tso chicken and the sauce on it was really good too-- just enough spice. You would think with the prices this would be a cheap Asian place, but it is pretty far from that. The prices are great and you get so much food, I usually take about half of my meal home. I also love that they have teas and slushes etc that you can add boba or jelly to. I love the green apple slush with strawberry jellies. It's a nice little treat that isn't too heavy! This is the most legit boba tea joint I've found in Oklahoma to date! I chatted with the nice guy behind the counter for a bit as he was making my boba orders (1 regular milk tea with boba and mixed jelly, 1 honeydew melon green tea with double boba). He's from Hong Kong originally, finishing his undergrad degree at OCU. A HK employee = Authentic boba tea! I was pleased with the texture and consistency of my boba balls. Perfectly chewy, not too tough or soggy. The flavor of the tea was delicious and my boyfriend was thrilled with his order as well! This place is basically an upscale version of Quickly's/Tapioca Express for those of you who know what these places are, but in short, Tao Cafe does Boba and does it with great proficiency and finesse; I ordered the taro milk tea with tapioca thinking I was going to get one of those cheap plastic cups with sealed tops -- instead I got an entire kettle full of rich milk tea with taro-flavored tapioca balls which I had to share with two other people simply due to the fact that generosity and blessings should be shared with as much and with as many as possible. I only came in here for bubble tea, but I did see a decent repertory of asian "cafe favorites" which I will definitely try out the next time I'm back in Oklahoma. read more

Tao definitely deserves 5 stars! If for just their prices and boba tea alone. But seriously, I love mostly everything here. My husband and I have been coming here for years, and it's consistently good. Their rice boxes are so filling, and only $5.50 each! I really like the General Tso's chicken rice box. It always comes with egg drop soup, a cream cheese wonton, spring roll and rice. Such a good deal! Their shrimp fried rice is also really good! Now, the best thing they offer, hands down are their teas, slushes and frappés! Sometimes the food can be very good, but other times there are inconsistencies like the rice can be undercooked and the thai tea can be grainy because it's powder-based. The service is good but can be slow depending on the server. Overall, it's a great local restaurant for college students. read more

Haven't tried the food. This place gets 5 stars for being a really good place for boba tea. You have a choice of black or jasmine green tea- both are brewed ahead of time. No powder mixes here. Good selection of flavors and every time I've been they've made it just right, not too sweet, and with the perfect amount of boba. Peach green tea is my favorite but they have a tastey blueberry flavor which I rarely see in other boba tea places. I've never been very impressed with the building itself or the food, but there is one reason I still go there semi regularly - the tea! This place seriously has the worst customer service. Always so rude, and recently had ordered the Kung Pao Chicken, it had way too many onions in the dish and hardly any chicken. Asked for something else, but when it came time to pay, said that I had to pay for both meals..? I didn't eat or even touch the first dish, which I told them was their error and that I would not pay. One of the guys with a sort of grown out Mohawk, then threatened my friend by saying "I know where you work." And then said "get the fuck out of here, bruh" before my friends could even pay for their meals. Just absolute disrespect. My best friends and I go here on a regular basis. We love the variety of flavoured green teas with different flavoured jellies. Brilliant to mix and match. You can never go wrong. Each one of us has a fav. Mine is Orange green tea with mango jellies, but I change it up quite a bit. Second favorite would be grape green tea with green apple jellies. my friend Lauren gets the Kiwi green tea with strawberry jellies EVERY single time. Ingenious combination and Sam gets peach green tea with Strawberry jellies. The drinks take a while to make, so if we're not getting something to eat, we sit at the couch and flip through old magazines. If we are eating, we have a seat and sit for a while before someone comes and takes our order. I have a short temper for slow service, but I have come to terms that that is how the Asians run their business. They do need more servers at times, especially around lunch time. I usually order the japanese tofu! Oh its divine. it comes nice and fried with a dipping sauce of some sort. We usually all split the edamame, and if were there for dinner, I order a box of kung pao chicken. It comes with a spring roll, egg soup, a cheese wonton, rice, cabbage and the chicken. Its a nice size meal for a great price. My ONLY complaint would be the slow service and the quiet awkward atmosphere. there needs to be some sort of music. I always feel like the other people in the room are listening to your conversations. Plan on being there for at LEAST an hour. Oh and if you're a single guy, its a brilliant place to meet girls. They flock to this place. We have a nickname for the entire area its located in: Bitch Central. Its the jelly drinks. Girls LOVE them. read more

There was one guy working, perhaps the owner. It does take some time for anything to be made since he was the only person there.
