What ever you order, do not get Kung Pao chicken. Save your money. This dish was a total disaster, it's a dish with lots of chopped onions and a few pieces of chicken. It also does not look appealing. Definitely not your traditiona Kung Pao chicken. I went for a second time, and tried their vegetable rice, it's not bad, but is was not amazing either. They definitely need to redesigned their dishes, and try something new. The boba drinks are their hallmark, these are sweet-delicious. And have many choices of drinks. Our family went to the Tao for dinner and we generally were underwhelmed. We started with some hot and sour soup, which was the best part of the meal. We also had some spring rolls that looked like they were miniature. They tasted fine, however they were tiny. We had ordered Beef Chow Mien, Shrimp Chow Mien, and Tofu Singapore Noodles. The Beef and Shrimp Noodles were flavorless and had a lot of onions and hardly anything else. There were several pieces of Beef/Shrimp in each dish. The Singapore Noodles were more flavorful, the Tofu was not firm. I didn't specify firm to be fair. We had some bubble tea and a diet Coke (served in a can with a glass). The service was good, however the food just wasn't to my liking. We spent about $45 for three. I could have paid more and got a better meal next door at Cafe Icon. I also could have paid about 25% less at Panda across the shopping center. I would have had to settle for more grease, but that's what you are in for (no surprises). read more

I came for dinner and a milk tea. they have a Frappe section I thought different. my go to is a Taro black tea with boba. I tried the Frappe here. I also ordered the flat noodle (T1.) Prices are fantastic. Quality is there for the price. Simple dishes that are tasty filling and quick. Atmosphere is a younger crowd (teens/20 somethings) and a minimalist decor. It was relaxing with the chatter around me and top 40 hits playing. The staff was very polite and running around pretty quickly, a sign of good service to me. Casual. Fun. Clean. Tasty. I ordered this through Postmates, I got the sesame chicken rice box and a cup of Egg Drop Soup. Everything was really good. The egg drop soup wasn't the best I had ever had but it was hot and definitely good. The sesame chicken was, hands down, the best I had ever had and the rice was cooked perfectly. Tao's Cafe is in the mold of the lower costing Chinese restaurants but have spiced up their presentation and surroundings while also improving the taste. The restaurant is colorful and modern and easy on the eyes. The wait staff are attentive. The prices were the same low cost that you pay at the lowest cost Chinese restaurants. The food was however better than normal and they carried a wide variety of drinks (teas and smoothies) that seemed to be a crowd favorite. Tao has been one of my favorite places for years. It's very reasonably priced for the amount of food that you get. I always get one of their rice boxes which is more than enough for me. I recommend any of their milk teas (so many different flavors) and the cream cheese wontons are to die for! read more

Have you ever been a broke college student? Because I have, and I currently still am. This establishment is one of the most afforadable restaurants in Edmond. I have way surpassed being able to count how many times I've been there on my hands. The staff usually working are extremely efficient in their work. I have never once had bad service at Tao Cha Cafe. Everyone is human, so of course people will make mistakes in their work. But that shouldn't ultimately determine how you feel about this work place if you only go once. The tea is amazing. I never bought into the boba craze, but there's something special about a pot of hot rose milk tea that injects serenity into the veins. There's quite a few options for flavors, but do expect it to be fairly sweet. The food is pretty good, if a bit overshadowed by the tea. The really nice part is that it's only $5-7 for a fairly substantial lunch portion. The service... Okay, it's a mixed bag. The second time, service was very quick and on top of things. The first time was a series of inattentive encounters that led to the one and only time I left zero tip. I don't know what happened, and I'm not going to dwell on it. Sometimes people have extremely bad days and I'm glad I gave this place a second chance. I'll keep going for now. If service is as good as the second time reliably, it's really a five star place. This is one of the best place for college students that're looking for cheap chinese foods. Although the price went up by a bit recently, still, compare to other chinese restaurant, the price is surprisingly cheap and the food portion is big enough to fill your tummy. I had to to go my leftover food everytime (i often get the ricebox). However, the bobba tea was ok, it's very watered down and not sweet at all. The service was ok too. Some of the waiters seem nice but some was ok. They sometime pass you the check but most of the time you have to pay at the counter. I stopped in a little bit after lunch time and was greeted by a very friendly staff member. I sat and ordered my normal-when-I'm-trying-a-new place: Sweet and Sour Chicken. It was awesome!! Several freebies came with the meal, like a cheese wonton, an egg roll, hot and sour soup and of course steamed rice. The sauce was served in a bowl instead of already on the chicken, which I loved. I hate soupy chinese food! Also, the breading on the chicken was just right! The portion size was perfect as well- I didn't leave feeling like I was over full, but was very satisfied. Horrible customer service. Went with a friend who ordered the Kung Pao chicken and it had so many onions that it was inedible, the dish was almost entirely onions, we politely asked for something else, which they gave. When it came time to pay the bill was told that she has to pay for both. When we refused saying she didn't eat it, and it was awful, we're not paying, one of the guys stepped up to me "saying I know where you work." As if to threaten me? I'm not sure. Then before we could even finish paying said "get the fuck out of here bruh" so we said okay we will leave since we didn't get to pay and you want us gone, we will go which then they threatened to call the police, but there the ones who told us to leave before we could even pay. Just ridiculous awful service. We were faithful customers for 5 years and now we will never give them our business again. read more

Spicy tofu was my least favorite selection but it was something we knew we might not like when we ordered. I always order the Curry Chicken fried rice spicy, which is always fresh and consistent on flavor. The portions are generous for the price and the staff are extremely friendly! Decent food. The crab wontons are amazing. Had the curry noodles and was impressed with how much you got for the price. Bubble tea was also pretty good. But the wait service was horrible. They sat me down, gave me a menu, was back in two minutes with my drink and to take my order, brought the food about four minutes later, and then was not waited on again. The noodles were spicy so I ended up eating the ice from my empty drink to take the edge off. I had to go to the counter to ask for my ticket, and they did not seem too happy. I've been eating at Tao Cafe since they first opened and always look forward to a seafood rice box and hot jasmine tea. It's delicious and wallet friendly. The service has always been friendly, but rather quirky. Most of the waiters are asian students from nearby UCO, and are known for serving a table, one meal at a time, rather than serving everybody together. While it's still one of my favorite places, I'm sorry to report that in my last few visits, I've noticed a slight decline in food freshness and a change in the ratio of ingredients (i.e. less shrimp/more vegetables). I originally only got the boba tea from here which I still love, but they have a cheap 6 buck bento box, comes with choice of main course, ie general tso or sweet and sour, etc, then rice, cream cheese wonton, and soup with egg roll. Not a bad deal for a lunch, but pretty slow. Small places, but usually can't get out of there in under and hour no matter how much I rush. I ordered the Thai tea boba, avocado boba, black tea sweetened, chicken bento, pork bento, and veggie lo mein. Thai tea with boba: Thai was good. Boba wasn't that good. It wasn't consistent. Some were hard in the center, some were mushy, and some were just right. Avocado boba: the avocado was alright, boba was the same as above. Black tea sweetened was alright, this one didn't have boba. Chicken bento and pork bento were average. Veggie lo mein was pretty good, although it had a bit too much sauce. Staff is friendly and helpful. Above all this place is average. I don't think I will be going again unless someone else wanted to go. I won't be ordering any boba drinks though. read more
