I have not been here for 4 months and I used to come to this restaurant monthly. The food quality went down, the beef rice noodle roll came with regular soy sauce instead of special soy sauce which made it difficult to eat. The steamed pork ribs have rice noodles rolls under it which used to be full of meat but anymore. The shumai is bigger but less shrimps with more corn starch, not very good anymore. We ordered takeout for a special family occasion and it was a good experience. Food: Their menu is very extensive and descriptive. Love how it reads in English, Chinese, and Vietnamese. It's packed nicely if you order takeout and still tasted great at home. The Peking Duck was my favorite menu item. And their Walnut Shrimp was a hit for my other family members. The prices are fair and serving size is good for the price. White rice is included with the entrees. Service: I ordered by calling ahead right when they opened at 10:30 am. Our 12 item order was ready in about 30 minutes and the host was even kind enough to give us extra rice, chop sticks, and chili oil. They even offered to help take it to my car. Really kind people here. Ambiance: The inside of the restaurant is pretty standard with most traditional Chinese restaurants, but it was a little more modern than most, especially with their seafood tanks. The parking is limited at the front entrance and did not offer any takeout parking spots. But there is plenty of parking closer to the grocery store side of the building. Golden Phoenix is a staple and versatile restaurant in the Asian District. On the other side of the Chinatown supermarket, this Chinese/Vietnamese restaurant has just about everything you could want and need! They've got the roast meats, a large Chinese dinner menu, an equally large Vietnamese dinner menu, catering for events, and my favorite: their dimsum menu. For their regular menu, my family and I will frequently order to go and occasionally dine in. We often order off the Chinese menu when we're going family style (flat noodles, salt & pepper squid, egg noodle lo mein, and scallion chicken are some of our favorites), and we will order from the Viet menu for individual portions (we love their egg noodle soups, pho, broken rice platters). One of my favorite dishes is their lotus root summer salad, and I've not found another place that beats that dish here! I've found their service with regular dining in to be hit or miss. Most of the time we get great service but a few times here and there we have a hard time finding our server. Moving on to my favorite part of Golden Phoenix- the dimsum. They serve dimsum primarily on the weekends from opening to 3pm (I think), and they have really brought up the OKC dimsum game with their large and delicious dimsum menu! Their dumplings like the hargow and shiumai are large, filling, and delicious! I particularly love the fried shrimp and chives dumpling and their shrimp egg rolls. The service during dimsum is fantastic because they've got people pushing around carts and carrying plates of food out to you. Looking for more wok hei tofu pot but we enjoyed the meal. Since it's my first time in OKC, I was pleasantly surprised with the number of Asian families dining on a Wed evening! We loved the Dim Sum Cart Service. They accommodated us despite being busy on Father's Day. Within 5 minutes, we got a table. It was spacious and family-friendly. The food was decent. Lunch at Golden Phoenix with a friend. Golden Phoenix is one of my favorite restrauants in the Asian district. The restrauant is always buy, but I've never had to wait to be seated. Parking is sometimes a challenge. The venue was remodeled a few years ago with a modern twist to Asian decor. It's a lively scene. We orordered off the menu, that can be an exhausting experience. The menu is ginormous, and can be daunting for the inexperienced Asian diner. They also have service carts that come around with a variety of items that can be ordered a la carte, or you can mix menu items with a la carte items. Menu items are served family style. We orordered two menu items, Salt and pepper calamari and Walnut Shrimp. Both were excellent. The calamari comes with jalapeño peppers and I added red peppers. If you don't like spicy heat don't add the red peppers. The dish is mild without the red peppers. I was surprisrd how much I liked shrimp. I will be ordering it again. The prices are moderate, the service very good, the noise was surprisingly low for a busy restrauant. read more

I was confused because I get it all the time and I'm a regular customer, so I asked if he could please check. He then told me to ask someone else because he wasn't going to get it. Thinking I may have misunderstood him, I asked, "You want me to ask somebody else?" He replied, "Yes, I'm not getting it." At that point, I was preparing to leave because of the poor service. Short story: I am from the Bay Area. As a child, my dad will always bring me to a viet restaurant that served sweet and sour catfish soup. Ever since then, I could never find an establishment that sold viet sweet and sour catfish soup. Trust me, the only place I didn't look was Vietnam. Of course nobody in my family would or could cook it because we are Taiwanese. THEREFORE, I WAS SO FREAKING EXCITED that this place even had it on the menu!!! I had very low expectations. But when I took a bite...oh my gosh, it was everything I remembered as a kid. THANK YOU, Golden Phoenix. Another short story: I have no friends, no family, and I have never felt so alone in my life in Oklahoma. The only people that reached out to me were from OKC. However, I was always deadly afraid of an almost 3 hour drive. Friends I gathered from OKC highly recommended Golden Phoenix. But, I don't appreciate the crazy increase in price. I understand there are signs and of inflation, but a $4 increase... that's nuts. A small soup of sweet and sour catfish was $15.95 and now it's $19.95. However, I do appreciate that they included a side of a huge portion of rice as their sides usually average $2.50 (no idea if the price jump includes sides because their to go and online menus have yet to be updated). Ambiance: Asians! Definitely HUGE and a good place with large tanks to have a feast and conversations with family. Though, be aware, there are massive amounts of Hispanics working here. I have no idea what their actual Chinese food tastes like. Parking: There's a rather large side parking lot. It's attached to a Chinese supermarket. There's parking in front of the restaurant but there's no direction. It's obvious cars are parked as one direction but people enter and exit the other direction anyways. First time at golden phoenix and I enjoyed the dim sum! It's an experience that I recommend everyone try. We received a tally sheet and the servers would mark the sheet after dropping off a dish. We tried many dishes but the custard biscuits were my favorite next to the custard tarts. I also wish I would've tried the spring rolls! They looked delish. We had about 8-10 dishes and we each paid about $23 a person. So it's definitely not an inexpensive experience but worth a try! I got here on a weekday lunch time and it was busy. The staff in front missed pronounce my name and said something completely different so we didn't get seated for a while. Most of the staff was very nice and tried to seat us asap. However there was this lady who was very aggressive and got annoyed at us when we asked if they had the shrimp siu mai and she wouldn't speak English to us even though she knew English.
