Sadly, I did have some cavities, but he and his team never made me feel bad. I built a rapport with Dr. Barton way back during her Rocky Mount tenure at Harrold & Associates but she seemed too busy at this practice. For the most part the staff is pleasant, although on my last visit I had a hygienist who said she travelled from practice to practice (a dental hygienist temp?). She had a little bit of trouble finding things and operating the equipment and had to ask another staffer for help. The dentists themselves are professional and nice as well, although if you only see them for a few minutes unless you have bigger dental issues. They usually have bottled water in the lobby but their little fridge looked empty on my last visit. Note: finding the new location can be tricky since it is off the road a little bit at an office building, not directly on the road.

The office management is very poor, I was scheduled for the surgery months out but they called me less than a week before the appointment and said that they had to cancel because they had not received information from my cardiologist they needed. After some begging on my part they agreed to keep the appointment if my cardiologist sent the info, which he said he already did but he sent it again immediately. When I arrived I was treated okay by the staff at first until I was in the chair. When the surgeons came in NEITHER ONE OF THEM SAID A WORD TO ME. Instead one of them grabbed my chin and pulled it up and back, applying painful pressure underneath my jaw. My attempts to say something to her was ignored and she held me there until the drugs kicked in. When I woke up I was already outside of the clinic being bundled into the car with my mouth stuffed with gauze. I waited for months only to be treated like this because of a mistake that the office manager had made!! I don't recommend this facility at all and I have let my dentist know about the treatment and hopefully they will stop referring patients there. Update!!! One year after getting my dentures I have to have a piece of tooth removed that was left in my gums!! I can't bite down on that side because it is too painful. I am reporting this to the medical board. This place needs to be closed down!!

Dr. Tope is like those dentists/doctors that you see on TV but you really think don't exist in real life. it was almost as if he (dare I say it) likes his job and likes people. I've never been afraid of the dentist, but he was so calming and reassuring that I would probably trust him to do an unmedicated root canal. He takes his time to explain everything, he had that 80s sitcom dad kinda vibe. He's the best dentist I've ever had and if I hadn't moved out of state, I'd still be a patient there. Three fillings there, several cleanings and a few referrals and I never experienced the slightest pain.

If you have any disability or particular circumstances, single mother, career oriented time limited person DO NOT GO HERE! They will make it seem as if it's a burden, they are more superior to you and your "life happening moments" or they will charge you because your disabled child was in the hospital and you forgot to cancel a dang routine dental cleaning appt. Literally got into a head on collision before I had an appointment (my first one scheduled) suffered a minor concussion etc and this was my first "missed appointment".. explained to them my reason and then after that it was just an attitude, negativity towards my kids & myself and a issue to move forward with anything. This place never had business which makes it so bad.. I would understand a slammed booked office to behave in such a way, or if I didn't actually have a teenage child in a wheelchair or communicated with the front office about things outside of my control..its a freaking small dentist office with no business or business ethnics, compassion, consideration or awareness. Out of my near 30 plus years seeing a dentist and meeting others for my children's dental work I've never experienced such a nasty office staff or irrational "policies". Not family oriented, not handicap accessible or accepting, they are not compassionate or personable people.
