We're not from Canada and thought this place looked good! We didn't really know how Canadian coins worked and only asked for help with the amount we had left as it was our last few days. Our cashier tried helping us, but another worker started laughing at us on the side. He was the one wearing black. It was an unpleasant feeling. It made my mom and me feel a typa way. We only came here for the offer of $30 vouchers for tourists to come to this mall. It's disappointing that they're trying to advertise for out of towners, but for them to laugh at us when we're confused about Canadian currency definitely did not feel welcoming. The girl working was very nice however! As for the drinks, they were refreshing and good! EDIT: The guy came up to our family and apologized, and he said he was actually laughing at an inside joke and I quote, "when customers ask for too much." Honestly, it made us feel worse from it because now we feel as if we're a burden to both the cashier (guy in gray sweater I believe) because he looked annoyed while taking our order by our requests. We were only asking to use the rest of our voucher which wasn't allowed. That was fine, but there are other ways to handle situations than making your customers feel like a hassle. I even expressed that it was fine if it didn't work, so what was the point of laughing at the "inside joke" of customers asking for too much? Were we really asking for too much? If you wanted to apologize properly, a sorry without any other excuses would've been better, but I hope it helped him clear his conscious. It only made us feel more upset towards the cashier and the other male worker.

This was the first time I've ever come across or heard of Tao Tea. I was checking out Square One's new (or new to me) Food District when their MISS SUNSHINE sunset drink caught my eye. Thanks to the butterfly pea flower tea, this beverage is gorgeous! Mixed with a nice mango-flavor, this drink was refreshing and super tasty with a slight tartness to it! Price was a little steep at $7.35 (tax included) but definitely worth a try (4.8 out of 5.0). They also had their PEACH BLOSSOM WHITE TEA for sampling and that was a delicious, subtly sweet, organic option! (4.7 out of 5.0). The tea barista was knowledgable about their products and friendly when we were asking questions about their drinks menu. Working the shop alone, she was very efficient as well. Kudos to her! The aesthetics of the shop is very interesting, with all their tea tins aligned along the walls. I'd definitely recommend a visit!

I bought the brown sugar milk tea w/ tapioca and orange peach blossom tea (~$5.99) on two separate occasions. The store looks really elegant and modern, service is quick, and it's super spacious since there's no seating inside the actual store. That said, I found the drinks here downright disappointing. Both drinks were diluted and super sweet, worse than what you'd get buying boxed milk tea or juice from a grocery store. I ordered normal sugar, but found all of the sweetness came from syrup which made the whole drink taste artificial. The tea/milk tea itself didn't taste like anything. Pricing overall is good for a shop in the Food District, around ~$6 or so for a drink which is consistent with bubble tea shops outside. BUT, $6 for watered down tea is not so great a deal. I'll definitely steer clear from this store in the future. Don't waste the calories, drink something else somewhere else.

There are samples on the counter for you to try. Today, it was the peach blossom tea for sampling. Pretty nice and refreshing. I ordered the crysantheum tea with honey. Not a lot of place serves this tea. It has a nice floral note and very refreshing. I will come back to try other tea.

Went to the Food District with my nephew and friend. I wanted to try the bubble tea from this store. The staff recommended the Brown Sugar Milt Tea with Tapioca. The price is around ~$6 including HST. In my honest review, I didn't really find anything different from other bubble tea places I've been in. If you're going to try something out, I might suggest trying something different than the regular brown sugar milk tea as they have a selection of drinks that I haven't tried before. I recall reading a can on their shelf which said "Gunpowder Green Tea" , so that might be worth a try.

Tao Tea Leaf is a new addition for hot teas and bubbles teas at Square One, in the new food district. It's a pick up only facility, but the food district does have seating throughout. I have tried their matcha brown sugar milk tea and their matcha cheese mousse drink and both were pretty good. Their cheese mousse topping was probably the best I've ever had, compared to franchises like Chatime. However I do find their regular and brown sugar tapioca to be plain, and a little unsatisfying. The wait for your drinks do take a while too, as everything including the tapioca is made to order. The staff at Tao Tea Leaf are good as well, and will give you recommendations if you dont know what to order. Overall I had a good experience here, and I would recommend any drink with the cheese mousse!

I'm a former java head, trying to live a healthy lifestyle. I tried tao tea leaf then asked the associate for advice in which type of tea is popular. She surprised me with a organic tea that didn't taste that good she provided excellent customer service. I enjoyed our conversation, Prices are comparable to Starbucks coffee. tea is organic + stepped. Tea isn't for everyone, it's an alternative to caffeine. I highly recommend this location.

Very unique taste! A pleasant iced tea, on a hot, sweaty shopping day. I will absolutely come back here.

Tao tea leaf has your tea needs covered. If you had to pick a tea go with hibiscus tea. It's a nice tart flavour with sweetness added. Their chrysanthemum tea was soothing and similar to chamomile..another nice tea with a strong aroma was darjeeling tea. The tea is flavorful with spice. Give Tao a try

They have a three tier tea stand that comes packed with scones, clotted cream and jam, sandwiches and mini dessert bites. I absolutely LOVE their scones. And the clotted cream and jam supplied by Devon cream company is delicious. I am not a jam fan but the vanilla berry jam is So good! They have a little under 300 varieties of tea and you can actually choose your tea after smelling it from the glass container too. It was such an experience! Hot water was added to our teas, and otherwise we were left to talk amongst ourselves. They served clotted cream, and a choice of jam with their scones. Had a mixed berry jam which was a good amount of tart and sweetness. Scones were excellent, one of the best I've had so far; which admittedly is not a lot. The sandwiches were okay, filling good, but bread a bit stale. The sweets were a small selection of 4 desserts and berries on the side. There was a lot of food for the 'White House Tea' set, well worth the money and the experience. Nice to try, but a bit far to come back again. Will definitely recommend to someone in the area!

Most of the drinks here come with toppings, which I usually prefer not to have on my drinks. However, they are generally pretty flexible removing with removing them. If you do enjoy toppings in your fruit teas and drinks, then you'll enjoy the drinks here. I had initially come here to try their Lava Taro drinks, but because I come by this location in the afternoon, they're always out by then. The staff told us that their Lava Taro products usually run out for the day at around early afternoon (around 1-3 o'clock pm). Do keep that in mind if you plan to get it. I got their Creme Brulee milk tea, which was very good. Their milk teas are good quality. My boyfriend tried their Very Grape Lime, which I've had before and I also enjoyed. Aside from that, I've had their Tiramisu latte, their Hero milk tea, and their berry fusion, which have all been very good. As far as I know, the drinks come in a fixed size. I wish I could further customize the size as sometimes I want a larger Tiramisu latte, but they do let you customize the sugar and ice level. Otherwise, very solid location. The staff are friendly and quick, and there's always ample seating. The art inside the store is very cool and anime-esque.

I got 3 drinks: one Jasmine green tea, one classic milk Boba tea and one pineapple tea with Boba. I was not that big of a fan of the pineapple but loved the other ones. I don't like the Boba used as I find it a little too chewy and the taste isn't as good as other Boba pearls I've had. I find this one to have a bit of stronger taste. It's a small shop, but cute. There are board games available and it gives off a cozy/chill vibe. When waiting for your drink, there's a seating area near the door and even a game you can try. The timer/game gives you the chance to win a free drink on the house if you manage to get a perfect 10:00 score (I mean you manage to stop the timer on that time). Product was well packaged. Drink was not too sweet despite not having adjusted the sweetness level, which I liked. The only thing for me was the waiting time which took forever, as in more than 20 minutes to be served. It was busy and there was only 1 person working. 1 person for the entire place, to make drinks and take the orders. I can imagine how much slower it would be during peak hours. I went during non-peak hours and there was only 2 people in store sitting down, yet it took me over 20 minutes to get my drinks.
