Richard had a letter attached to the wood frame entrance to our accommodations welcoming us to the property. He came right over to introduce himself, show us around the property, and even picked a few things from the garden for us to enjoy during our stay. We settled in and enjoyed the cheese, crackers, olives and snacks that he had on the table along with a bottle of wine that was delicious. The next morning, Richard was on our doorstep with warm pear and walnut scones that he made from the pear tree on the property. Our little cottage was perfect. Filled with local art work, bright colors and the textures of the Southwest. We had a lovely living room, dining area with a banquette, kitchen stocked with everything we needed. Upstairs was the bedroom and bathroom with a large deck off the bedroom and stunning views of the mountains surrounding Taos. Everything was spotlessly clean, warm, inviting and cozy. We relaxed, enjoyed and savored every moment we were here. I even used the little meditation hut next to the creek for my morning meditations. It was the most peaceful spot. In the refrigerator we found 6 fresh eggs that Richard had left from the chickens on the property. We thoroughly enjoyed them. Richard was friendly, kind, giving and the most gracious host and a wonderful innkeeper. If you ever find yourself traveling to Taos, you must stay.

Lovely Bed and breakfast in the outskirts of Taos…read more We arrive at this lovely B&B and Gould the grounds to be very beautiful. Has a real south west vibe going on which continued into our room. The rustic charm is everywhere from the Spanish tile bathroom to the spacious bedroom. There are chair on the front porch to sit and enjoy the court yard. Our room had an open but private back porch with more chairs. We enjoyed some coffee here before heading to breakfast, Breakfast was delicious and the staff was friendly and helpful. Nga was amazing. Wished we were able to stay longer. I would give this place 7 stars ( 2 bonus stars)

I really wanted to leave a glowing 5-star review because, when we first arrived I was obsessed with…read morethis place. My boyfriend, our dog, and I ended up booking this B&B last minute after leaving another accommodation early because it had bugs (including a camel spider in our bed ). We found this place online at resnexus.com as well Yelp and stalked their website, loved the photos, read the reviews, and immediately felt relieved when we arrived. The Piñon Casita was adorable, the property itself is beautiful, breakfast was delicious, and the hosts seemed friendly. For the first hour or so I was thinking, Thank goodness, we finally found the place. Unfortunately, things slowly started going downhill from there. The first night, the fireplace wouldn't work. We messaged the hosts, sent photos, tried troubleshooting it ourselves, and eventually just gave up and accepted we'd be having a fireplace-free evening. It wasn't the end of the world, and we figured hey, stuff happens. The next day they came and fixed it, which we appreciated. Then came the washer. One of the reasons we were excited about this casita was because it included a washer and dryer. Earlier in the week we'd already spent time at a laundromat, so we were looking forward to doing laundry before our 8-hour drive home. We started a load and got a 4E error less than halfway through the wash. We looked it up ourselves, we tried troubleshooting, we messaged the hosts, we followed their suggestions, and we tried different cycles. At this point I felt less like a guest and more like the on-call appliance technician. They eventually told us the washer had been fixed while we were out hiking, so we were excited to finally do laundry. Spoiler alert it wasn't fixed. Same error. We tried again later that evening. Same issue. Then around 11 PM the washer completely shut off and locked our wet laundry inside. We messaged the hosts again because we were supposed to leave the next morning after breakfast and start an 8-hour drive home. The response that frustrated us most wasn't even the broken washer, it was being told that because we hadn't specifically mentioned on the phone that we intended to use the washer and dryer, (And she said that they don't accept same day bookings, but made an exception for us, though that was never communicated nor was this a policy written anywhere on their website) compensation wouldn't be considered. Respectfully, if an amenity is advertised, guests shouldn't have to announce ahead of time that they plan on using it. That's like asking if the shower works before booking because you intend to shower. We weren't asking for a huge refund. We weren't asking for hundreds of dollars back. Even a small gesture of goodwill $50 to $100 off the stay would have gone a long way and would have shown that they understood the inconvenience. Instead, we paid full price despite having a fireplace that didn't work the first night and a washer/dryer that never functioned properly during our stay. To add to that, there were also multiple spiders and bugs inside the casita. I understand this is the countryside and bugs exist. Trust me, I get it. But after literally leaving our previous accommodation because of bugs, it wasn't exactly what we hoped to deal with again. The next morning our laundry was still trapped in the washer. Eventually my boyfriend ended up figuring out the breaker issue himself after staff told us where the breaker panel was located. We rushed to get our laundry spun and dried before checkout, but they still weren't completely dry. So instead of leaving relaxed after a nice getaway, we ended up starting our 8-hour drive home later than planned with damp laundry shoved into a trash bag. The frustrating part is that this review could have been completely different. The property is beautiful, the breakfast was genuinely fantastic, the casita itself is cute and cozy. And honestly, if the hosts had simply acknowledged the inconvenience and offered even a small amount of compensation, I probably would've happily overlooked most of this. Instead, we left feeling like the burden of fixing the problems fell on us while still paying full price for amenities we couldn't properly use. It's a lovely property, but unfortunately the way these issues were handled means we won't be returning.

The house is gorgeous with two tiny salons, a dining area and kitchen. You can feel the history. There are coffee table books documenting Mabel and Tony's life and their influences on the area. We spent about 30 minutes reading. Visiting hours are between 10.00am and 2.00pm each day if you are not resident. When there are no workshops or events coming after 2.00pm is fine. Breakfast is available for the public to book, $15 each for a good buffet. Reception has a number of books and cards for sale. The Dia de los Muertos shrine for Dennis Hopper was still up and many photographs surrounded it. What history this house has seen. Georgia O'Keefe, Ansel Adams, DH Lawrence and Martha Graham graced these rooms in Mabel's day. Dennis and his friends brought a livlier set no doubt! Situated just a mile north of the Taos "hub" Hacienda del Sol is an oasis of tranquility, luxury, and hospitality. The rooms are immaculate (complete with a wood burning fireplace begging to be lit and enjoyed). The grounds are beautifully manicured with local garden decorations and plenty of Adirondack chairs for basking in the sun under Taos Mountain's shadow. You can't paint a better view. Mark and Gerd serve the most delicious of breakfasts each morning. I enjoyed the fruit cup starter with only the freshest fruits, followed by options including French toast, pancakes, biscuits and green chili gravy, cheese omelette, skillet potatoes and eggs, eggs any style, and, of course, bacon. I looked forward to waking up and joining other guests each morning to see what new delicious options we would be offered. I enjoyed the privacy of the individual hot tub times. You can sign up for 30 minute slots throughout the day, 7 days a week, to enjoy an intimate hot tub time with your party. There are some dog-friendly rooms, so bring Fido! They do have some ground rules with the dogs (cannot be left alone in rooms and no sleeping on the bed). Please be respectful guests so that they may continue their hospitality towards canine guests as well. Be sure to bring a crate if you do intend to leave for any amount of time. There are many restaurants just steps from Hacienda del Sol and the staff will be happy to make recommendations or reservations at your request. Within 30 minutes you can be at Taos Ski Valley, Rio Grande Gorge Trails (25 min drive), the Rio Grande Gorge Bridge (12 min drive), downtown (5 min drive), a grocery and liquor store (6 min walk), wine country (40 min drive), and Santa Fe (1hr30 drive). Simply put, we had the most magical experience and cannot wait to make Taos and Hacienda Del Sol an annual vacation spot.

The bedsheets are super soft and the mattress is comfy. We used the steam shower in our bathroom after a long hike up Wheeler Peak and wished the hot tub had been open. We would love to have used the kiva fireplace, but mid-summer isn't the season for an indoor fire. Breakfast was delicious, in a beautiful setting with stunning views of Taos Peak and friendly service. A few quirks: the room lighting is a little dark once the sun goes down; there were cobwebs in the ceiling vigas that need to be vacuumed away; the southwest style bent willow chairs could use a thicker seat cushion; the bath soap smells heavenly, but the shampoo and lotion are uninteresting. But, we didn't go to Taos for the shampoo. We went for the scenery, the hiking, the starry night, the "enchanting". This B&B knows how to bring the enchanting.

A kind resident had the curtesy to smudge me off and to get me through the shock. She took the responsibility of helping me because it happened as I was helping her with a dragon sculpture. We turned out to be closer during my stay and my respect for her stayed good. They noted that I was luck I didn't break anything but I fell into it trap door style and I scratched and brusied myself hard. Muna noted that her sons were idots to leave a dangerous spot like this around when there were children also staying there, As she spoke to me in a patronizing was that she often speaks to most people if not petting their egos. I remember Muna the owner telling me before I could ever think of suing, thank you for not suing us. I remember how I fell and Muna also a body worker did minimal body work like massage or acupuncture to help me heal. ( I have scoliosis but she didn't even seem to have much thought about how this even affected my body and my nervous system. I was paying a discounted price for my room but I never got any lower prices because they seemed defensive when I brought up paying lower due to the fall, Anu said " I didn't know you felt so angry" They clearly don't have much expertise customer service. Muna can be unessisarly nasty to people at times, and you much guard yourself from her random anger and not take it to personally. She must have tone it down on me because I had fallen and I didn't even complain much so they all thought I was a great visitor! I found that regardless of the signs that read no drugs allowed, they are very 420 friendly. I remember my first visit, I felt like a dear in he headlights and someone sent me there but I ran away because I could not bear Muna because around her I had a huge difficult loving myself, which may have been simply a reflection about how she felt about herself. During my stay as if I was not a flexible enough candidate, I was asked to move my room around in case someone else wanted to rent it! They were asking me to rent a cabin a very small room shortly after my fall! for the same price! My struggles there with Muna and Anu not having good relations with most of the staff or with me, I had a difficulty finishing and focusing my energy on Native Roots because I didn't feel supported by them or safe there. There were some nice things, like sweat lodges and drug circles and connections with people, maybe the moral was that I needed to develop the connection with myself instead of putting myself through so much suffering... Sincerely Charlotte
