One of the employees from tap came to our house arriving early which is always pleasant. He came in I told him the problem and he got right to work. He fixed the situation within minutes and them politely asked what else he could do for me. He was nice, professional, and hardworking. I used TAP & Son's a couple years ago to replace an island light with three pendant lights. The job was done quickly and done to absolute perfection. (This is written by a perfectionist, btw!) I'm leaving a review today, because I used another "2 hour electrical work deal" today, for a DIFFERENT company, and it was a bad experience in every way. I would strongly recommend that you use a different electrician - these guys charge $150 per hour, and are not professional in appearance or in their work product. I'll have to get someone else out to fix the items that I had them repair. I only gave 1 star to be kind. read more

Thom the owner did an estimation on work that needed to be done himself. He came out and took a look at what I wanted done: 4 can lights in cathedral ceiling, replace existing fan light and finally install fan in bedroom, no fan had been istalled before in the bedroom. Originally I had wanted can lights in cathedral ceiling, but I changed my mind (cost and potential damage to new ceiling). So in my livingroom all I needed was replacement of excisting fan. I was told by Thom Tap that if I "put boots to the ground" and helped electrician set ip staffolding I would save money in doing so. I paid handyman to help set up staffolding to reach ceiling safely (he would have installed the fan for free) instead I had Tap and Son's Electric install it, it cost me $250.00! Cyrus, the "professiona"l, didn't connect the light fixture that came with fan, had I not showed up to notice, I would have had to pay Home Depot for additional day of rental. Cyrus also didn't call to find out if there was acess to fan in bedroom via crawl space....so he cut 2 holes (fist size) in both newly painted wall and refinished ceiling to run wireing to fan. Finally and not least, this company that I hired ony because they where recommended by ROSEY ON THE HOUSE send a bill as an attachment to an Email that I missed when reading my Emails. I called them twice to get a bill mailed to me and to discuss modification of work and cost of said work...the office manager told me that I obviously was trying to not pay my bill!! A month and a half had gone by since work was done, was charged $550 to have 2 ceiling fans installed. I incurred costly damage to wall and ceiling and worst thing of all they put a lien on my property after a month and a half! This comapny is bad news...If I find out that their actions did damage my impecable credit, I will hire a lawyer in a heartbeat. BEWARE of Tap and Son's Electric! read more

I had Tap and Sons out today to replace the main service panel on my 41 year old house due to it being rusted out and exposing wires. They had the whole service panel replaced amd with new breakers up to in less then 8 hours. I do not remember the technicians names, but they were very knowledgeable and personable. The owner Thom and service manager John are great people to work with. They were able to get me and my family a safe and updated service panel right away. I am very thankful for the services provided. Keep up the good work. I would recommend this company to all my family, friends and anybody else that need help. Two nice guys arrived on time and were great all the way. I was stuck on a work conference call that went long. They were patient for me to wrap that up. I explained the problem and the outcome I wanted. They had the problem sorted quickly and got work. Mind you, another licensed electrician from a different company had worked on this same thing for several hours and never got it working. They fixed my non-working circuit and installed 2 additional can lights along with a new dimmer switch. They also installed a new Whole House Surge protector. If you dont have one of these, you need to get it soon. Protect all those electronics you have plugged in your house; computers, phones, TVs, fridge, range, dishwasher and on and on all have circuit boards that are one Monsoon storm driven surge away from disaster. protect your stuff. I have used TAP Electric on about three different occasions before today and had been satisfied. This time, they came in to do some minor fixes for a home I am selling. The electrician was there for one hour and ten minutes. I was charged a few bucks under $600 for this. We're talking of course about highly technical tasks like resetting a tripped GFI outlet and tightening the screws on a loose switch box in the attic. One hour, six hundred bucks. read more

I was in a bind and needed an electrician on short notice, and on a Saturday, to install some junction boxes in the attic. This is normally work I would complete myself, but a bank was involved and they were requiring a licensed electrician. TAP came out, almost on time and went right into the attic to get it done. The work itself was done well, I have no complaints on the quality of service. But it came at an unreasonable price, which I paid since the bank already had me backed into a corner. A rush job on a Saturday, I expected to pay the premium for labor. $225/hour was still a little rich for the task at hand. What REALLY kills me is the material cost of $65 per junction box. My parents own a hardware store, I know those boxes run less than $6/each. Highway robbery. Be sure you get a quote/estimate up front, itemized if possible and do a little research on material prices. If in a hurry, look elsewhere or make sure you are permitted to provide the materials needed for the job. read more

This company is to terrible. From the customer service over the phone they give to the prices to the service in the field.

We used this company on a professional level. I found them to be very unprofessional and very rude. The tech came to the property without the proper equipment and while we had to go to Home Depot to get the supplies, because the tech did not have them, the tech stayed at the property on his phone and ate our breakfast that is meant for the guests. We were charge for time that the tech did nothing but eat and be on his phone but Thom negotiated the invoice when we received it and I was happy with the end amount. We let them know we pay 30-45 days out and the day after the first invoice I received a over due notice. Tonja was extremely rude and unprofessional through this process. At least Thom was willing to work with us and was a bit more decent than her. He would stand to have a better business if not for her and the attitude. The fire department has inspected our property and we are safe and the work done at our property is within specs of the City of Tempe read more

We will never use another company! I called late Saturday afternoon after hearing crackling in my braker--they were at my house within an hour! Cyrus was the best! He swapped out the bad braker and had us up and running in about 30 minutes!! I thought the worst and was so grateful when the situation was resolved and for much less $$ then I was anticipating!! I had this company come out to install a new line for our microwave, which had been hard wired directly into the wall. In addition, we also had a new GFI installed in the kitchen. They were able to come out within a few days of calling. It was not an emergency, so that was just fine by us. We were satisfied with the work overall. The lower rating is for two reasons. First, the price that I was given over the phone was not what the actual charges were. Was charged an extra 5 dollars compared to the rate I was given for the extra line. Also the GFI rate I was quoted did not include the labor, and was double what I was told over the phone. My bad for not asking if there were additional costs. Lesson learned. Secondly, the electrician installed a bad GFI, and he had to come back a second time to replace the original. I assume that this should have been tested prior to him leaving. Overall, the service was fine, just make sure to ask the right questions about pricing and check the charges prior to paying. read more
