Where do I even begin? I love my Jaguar F-Type. It's not my only car, but it's the one I genuinely enjoy driving. So when things started going wrong, it hit different. I took it everywhere -- local shops in Anaheim, Jaguar dealerships, even "specialists" in the LA area. I spent thousands of dollars and kept getting nowhere. Then the real scare happened. Every time I started my car, the RPMs would shoot up extremely high and fluctuate like crazy. It honestly made me nervous. I knew something wasn't right. I took it to Jaguar in West Covina. They charged $270 an hour just to inspect it. After a $1,400 leak-down test, they told me I needed a $35,000 new engine. Yes -- $35,000. They said my engine was fried. On top of that, during their testing they blew out my starter and then told me it was "failing" and wouldn't take responsibility. I was numb. That's when I reached out to Mina Gallery. They manufacture performance parts specifically for Jaguar, and I had purchased my cold air intake from them before, so I trusted them. After explaining everything, they referred me to Keith at Tapa Jaguar & Land Rover Engines. From the first phone call, Keith told me straight up: I did not need a new engine. After being burned so many times, I didn't know whether to believe him -- but something felt different. He told me to look up his reviews. I did, and I was blown away. People ship their cars from all over North America to him. So I shipped mine about 100 miles north. Within a day, my car was basically back to normal. The "blown engine" turned out to be a few relatively inexpensive parts. No catastrophic failure. No $35,000 replacement. Just honest diagnostics and real expertise. They replaced my starter correctly. Hilario even did some wiring work as a short-term fix because I had underlying electrical issues. Instead of pretending to handle something outside their specialty, Keith referred me to a trusted electrical shop in Santa Monica that specializes in that department. Two weeks later, they fully corrected the issue. That level of honesty meant a lot to me. Keith even went out of his way to help me fight Jaguar West Covina. He wrote a detailed breakdown explaining what was really wrong and why their diagnosis -- and the damage done during testing -- was on them. He didn't have to do that. He gained nothing from it. Because of what he wrote, Jaguar reduced my bill down to $700. He helped me get money back. Later on, I developed a coolant leak underneath the supercharger. If you know these cars, you know that job isn't small -- the supercharger has to come off, and it can get pricey. Keith and Hilario replaced the coolant leak properly and replaced all the necessary parts that go along with that repair while everything was apart. Around that same time, I was hearing a rattling noise from the supercharger. Keith was honest and told me I didn't have to replace it. The rattling only happened because of the original RPM issue -- it caused internal parts inside the supercharger to loosen up. He wasn't pushing a big-ticket repair. But I didn't want that rattle continuing, so I chose to replace the supercharger anyway. And when I did, he gave me a killer deal. Now my car runs smoothly. No noise. No rattle. Everything sounds perfect. It drives exactly how it's supposed to. The biggest thing for me is this: Keith could have made way more money off me if he wanted to. I was frustrated and vulnerable. Instead, he chose integrity. He calls, texts, keeps me updated, and I never once feel taken advantage of. I've even spoken with his wife, and they are genuinely good people. I bought a new-to-me 2015 Jaguar F-Type R in Jan 2024. Had a 170-point pre-purchase inspection done by LemonSquad, and the report showed all green lights. On day 2 of ownership though, the engine blew. The quote to swap out the head gaskets on the AJ133 V8 supercharged engine was as expensive as buying a remanufactured engine. Enter TAPA. The decision to go with a remanufactured engine (aka "reman") was easy: all of the flaws of the original engine (e.g. plastic coolant pipes cracking under stress) are upgraded in the remans from TAPA. TAPA does a whole bunch of other stuff to improve the remanufactured build (ask Keith for the full list). And you get a year warranty (or 12k miles, whichever comes first) on the reman, which gives you ease of mind. I was happy with TAPA solely with that part of the story and decided to purchase a reman. After speaking with Keith at TAPA though, I decided to have them also do the work to swap the old engine with the new one, so I had my car shipped to his shop. Let me tell you, Keith is the most personable mechanic I have known in my life of car ownership spanning 30+ years. I am so overly impressed. Keith and his team are a white-glove service; they pro-actively communicate with you on progress, sharing important photos and videos of their work as they progress. They give you estimates on completion which are spot on. Keith personally called me on many occasions to describe what he had found and what the next best steps were to correct the issues he found with the car as he performed the work. There are so many what I call "above and beyond" things that he and his team have done while they had my car, I can't name them all here or I'd have to write a book! Just to add a little color though: I told him I needed to have the car smogged before I registered it; he took it to a smog shop and had it smog-certified. While the car was there for swapping out the engine, I had parts to replace the rear tie rods in the trunk of my car; he replaced the rear tie rods at no additional charge. On a different occasion, after I had had the car back for several months after the swap, and everything was running smoothly, a seal broke in the coolant system, so I shipped the car back to Keith. He replaced the broken seal under the warranty and reinforced it. Then he installed some parts I had in the trunk of the car that had recently been shipped to me (upgrades to the upper and lower air intake, and replacement struts for holding the hood open) at no additional cost for his labor. I could write more, but we'd be here forever. Class act all around! Now that I have the car back, the engine is so smooth in comfort mode; silently cruising along in cruise control. When you take it on a canyon run though, put it into dynamic sport mode and hit it, that engine turns into a beast! Growling, snap-crackle-pops, and when the supercharger engages, it's the sound of a British hellcat! Every time I push that engine, I'm laughing out loud. If taking it to the drag strip is your thing, you won't be disappointed. I'm looking to get official numbers, but the 0-60 is under 4 seconds. Such a fun car to drive! Keith is a truly knowledgeable professional, that cares about people and prides himself in service excellence. From the first conversation I knew I had found the right team for my vehicle. My LandRover Discovery HSE had been worked on by a mechanic that had no idea how to repair a coolant leak, although, he insisted the exact opposite was true. The vehicle was initially in need of new coolant outlet pipes...in the process the engine was overheated and ruined everything. Months, Weeks and Thousands of dollars later my vehicle was in need of an engine replacement. In September, my wife purchased a used 2017 Range Rover, no warranty. The same day driving back to San Diego, without warning, the engine overheated. The issue is that the plastic coolant lines crack, the coolant slowly leaks out and the Rover never gave any kind of overheating warning. As well, there is no display for engine temperature. The motor was completely totaled and we were completely freaked out as what to do. After several days of surfing the internet for hours and hours we finally spoke with Keith from TAPA. After reading his quote and speaking with him we got our vehicle towed up to TAPA. In less than two weeks he personally drove the Rover back down to our house in San Diego to deliver it with it's new rebuilt engine. There were one or two very minor issues and he immediately corresponded with us and the service manager at the independent shop in San Diego. Neither issue had anything to do with the rebuilt motor. When you text Keith he responds in 1 or 2 minutes, every time. Never seen anything like it. We now have put on over 3,000 miles without issues. I definitely suggest going with Keith at Tapa Jaguar to anyone interested in refurbishing their Jaguar/Land Rover/Range Rover motor. I have a 2015 Jaguar F-Type S convertible with 53,000 miles. While driving, my check engine light came on and I had an instant rough idle. I immediately shut off the car and had it towed to my dealership. After inspection, my dealership informed me that I needed a new motor. They told me that one of my cylinders would no longer hold compression. I said "Well, can't you just put a new piston and piston ring in? They said no, the motor has to be replaced. I was totally devastated by this news. I didn't know what my options were. I got on the Jaguar forums to inquire as to what would be my next step. I was advised to spend the money to find out the cause of the issue. I felt like this was a total waste of money. It didn't matter to me what the cause was, I needed a fix. I asked my dealership how much is a new replacement motor from Jaguar. They said it was over $26,000! and they couldn't find one in a nationwide search anyway. I reached out to Jaguar North America and they said there was nothing they could do because it was outside of the 50,000 miles/4-year warranty. So, my next option was a used motor from a salvage yard. But then I thought, if I spend the $9,000 for a salvage motor, I could still have a failed piston in that motor because this seems to be a problem in Jaguar engines. I began to do research and I learned about Tapa Jaguar. One of my concerns was that he is located in California and I'm in Michigan. I couldn't go to his shop and check it out. I read all the reviews and they were all excellent. I reached out to Keith and spoke to him directly. Very nice guy I might add. I explained to him my situation with my failed piston. Keith explained to me the problems that Jaguar, Land Rover and Range Rover engines have had. He went on to explain the steps that they take to address those issues with their complete rebuild. I shipped my motor to Keith, and I waited a few days and I text him and asked if he could take a couple pictures of the teardown. He said sorry, your motor has been torn down, rebuilt and it is being shipped back to you. I was completely blown away at how fast the turnaround was. He also included videos showing compression on all cylinders. The engine was received at my dealership and they charged me $14000 to install it. I received a call that my vehicle was ready! Excited, I arrived at my dealership early to take delivery of my vehicle. I drove the car exactly 26 miles! From my dealership to my job. As soon as I arrived at work, the check engine light came on and I had a rough idle. I had the vehicle towed back to the dealership. After inspection they informed me that I have three cylinders with no compression. At this point, they began pointing the finger at Keith and Tapa Jaguar saying that they did a faulty engine rebuild. I reached out to Keith and he reminded me of the video showing the engine had compression on all cylinders and that my dealership installed faulty fuel injectors causing the damage to the engine. To be sure of this, Keith had an independent inspector, inspect the engine. It was determined that the damage to the engine was caused from faulty fuel injectors that my dealership installed. What they did was instead of installing new injectors, they installed my old injectors which added too much fuel to the cylinders causing a term called cylinder wash. My dealership was at fault and refused to accept any responsibility at this point. While talking with Keith he volunteered to replace my engine, which he didn't have to do. Tapa Jaguar was not at fault for the damage to my engine. My dealership was and this was proven by the independent inspector. Keith wrote them a very nice email on my behalf seeking a satisfactory resolution. In the email he stated that Tapa Jaguar & Land Rover Engines was willing to provide a replacement engine to address the issue at hand. Additionally, suggesting that the necessary injectors come from Tapa Jaguar directly. By doing so, they could ensure the use of genuine components and maintain the highest quality standards. He went on to ask that they consider offering a free reinstallation of the engine, which they refused and charged me an additional $7000 to reinstall the motor. I have received my vehicle for the second time and I have driven approximately 6000 miles on my second remanufactured engine from Tapa Jaguar. This engine is amazing! It pulls all the way to redline in every gear! I am forever grateful for Keith and Tapa Jaguar. These guys have given me my life back. Keith is the real deal. read more

Wow! I ordered an engine for my 2015 Jaguar XJ back in August of 2023 for $11,000. Supposably it comes with a 1 year warranty. It was professionally installed and maintained but after about 8 months, the engine went bad. They refused to honor any warranty and claimed that I did follow some crazy break-in procedure that was never even disclosed. Stay away from this company! read more

I purchased a 2016 Range Rover Sport from a dealer in Fountain Hills, AZ. everything seemed good upon its delivery to New Mexico, it was a beautiful vehicle. 20 minutes in, the vehicle shut off, with steam bellowing from under the hood. The engine blew with no warning from the cabin whatsoever. The search began for a new motor, and the word TAPA motors came up several times on multiple forums for Range Rover. I dialed the number and expected to speak with office personnel, or a service manager. To my surprise it was the cell phone number of the owner listed. Keith explained his engine build process and the short comings of multiple Range Rover engines across a spectrum of models. He clearly knew his way around motors, and it was displayed by the craftsmanship and attention to detail when fixing all of Land Rovers shortcomings in their 5 liter motor. The motor was shipped in less than a week to NM along with all of the upgraded parts necessary to avoid issue down the road. An SVR super charger was also purchased and begrudgingly (kidding) sent with the new motor. Turned out in speaking with Keith that he was a genuine motorhead, and intended to place that super charger on one of his personal motors. Videos and photos of my motor were sent on the day the motor shipped, and it was even more beautiful the day it arrived in the crate. The motor has been in the car for 3 days now. It runs strong, no leaks to speak of, and the euro shop that did the motor install and first oil change were impressed with both the quality of the build, and how clean the oil was after 100 miles. Every single positive review about Keith, his operation and his integrity are all 100% accurate. These claims can be backed by experience should you make the wise decision to do business with TAPA. I can say that very few people are as organized and responsible as Keith, especially in the automotive industry. He beat his timelines and right when I thought I needed to check up on what the status was, he was already shipping it that day! I ordered a 2011 Range Rover Sport Supercharged 5.0 Long Block from TAPA. I got a chance to see the engine & supercharger in the crate but didn't take pictures; however, they were very secure. Engines are shipped without the timing covers but are sent with a new set of gaskets. During the process of getting the deal on the engine done, Keith offered to send a remanufactured supercharger if I sent mine back to him with my core (THANK YOU AGAIN). I was expecting to just have my original put back on there so that is a big help and one less part to deal with rebuilding later on (needle bearings suck). Keith and his guys know these engines top to bottom and front to back. I can say that with confidence because well, I also know these engines top to bottom and front to back. After install of the engine there was a strange issue happening with misfires only on the driver bank. All of the standard approaches of diagnostics were not yielding results with the dealer. The dealer was thinking that the engine wasn't timed correctly but I saw it in the crate and all of the timing marks were perfect as well as the crank keyway being at exactly 90 degrees. Keith and I exchanged multiple phone calls to brainstorm on what was causing the issue. We narrowed it down to one of the driver cam phasers or the actuator that pushes the plunger on the front of the phaser (allowing the computer to control the Advance/Retardation of the cams, hence Variable Valve Timing). That all being said, I went to the shop myself and looked at the two phasers through the oil cap and sure enough, I could see one of the spring loaded plungers was stuck pushed in. I unbolted the actuator and cycled the plunger with my finger and there was a bunch of debris stuck in the oil hole. It was a silver material that looked like engine paint. Put everything back together, fired it up and boom, perfect. No rough idle, no misfiring, nice and smooth. I let Keith know what happened and he immediately had his guys stop using engine paint where it may come in contact with oil. Rest assured, this is a freak occurrence, usually, your oil filter will catch any particulate before it causes an issue, this may have been as simple as some overspray on the inside of the timing cover! Now, I know some reading this would think man, I don't have time / know how to do any of that. Well, before Keith knew that I knew anything he was ready to get on the phone with the dealer and their shop foreman to get this sorted out. I simply got involved to make the process smoother, faster and potentially save everyone money, the dealer charges $200/hr of course! So all in all, I am a very happy customer and was treated with the highest level of customer service. Thanks again to Keith and his team; forget about the $25k engine from Land Rover lol, get a TAPA engine. read more
