Bartenders are knowledgeable and friendly, the setup is perfect to hangout with friends playing some board games or watching a game on TV. Another plus is that they serve some finger food. They also have a decent bottle selection if you want to take something home. The seating indoors is smaller than I like , but I do love the outdoor area. They are located in more of a residential area, and have tables available in addition to the bar/counter area. What I love about the place is the fact that it is very close to where I live, the place has a nice ambiance to hang out and watch sports, but most of all, the beers on tap are quite good. I usually get the pale ale type or blonde lager, but from time to time I go for the thickness and go darker...what can I say, I like the Guinness type beers. Heck, I love beers period! The staff is quite nice, the bartenders tend to your needs without being too naggy. I wish the place is a bit bigger, more food selection, and closes later, but it is an upcoming bar, so I think those things will happen overtime. I love everything about this place. I drive out all the way from Milpitas to spend time here. Even if I only have one beer in a few hours I've never been told I'm taking up room at the bar . Today's destination : Taplands. This place has a great vibe. It was crowded, but they have plenty of places to sit including a dog-friendly patio area. (Disclaimer: I like to drink and pet cute dogs...with owner's permission, of course haha). Bonus points that they were playing reggae music. They have a really good selection of beers on tap. There were 2 guys working and they attended me promptly, and made sure that every time our drinks started to get low to see if we needed another beer, super awesome! They had some great beers on tap, one of my favs is the New Belgium Heavy Melon, similar to Hell or High watermelon but better. The only downfall is the lack of ciders. Sometimes a girl feels like something sweet. FYI if you're coming to eat, the kitchen closes around 9, so don't come hungry or your only choice is chips. This place recently opened up a block away from the Santa Clara campus, and if you're a beer loving student like myself, you'll really appreciate being able to come here for a pint and taking advantage of the free wifi while you work on writing a paper. I recommend their Duchesse Sour Red - delicious. They also serve food, which is the icing on top of the cake. I recommend getting a charcuterie and cheese combo as a light snack. Super yummy. One of my favorite local watering holes, I don't make it out to Taplands as much as I like simply due to timing more than anything else. This place has great atmosphere, knowledgeable and friendly staff, and most importantly, a great beer selection. The offerings here are usually pretty different from other local craft beer places, too, and their selection choices strike me as trying to cover as broad a spectrum as possible--never a bad thing considering how varied beer can be nowadays! There's food too, and while it's not a full-service restaurant, you can still find enough to turn a trip into a full lunch or dinner beyond just snacks to tide you over while you have a few drinks. read more

This is my kind of bar. 25 beers on tap and constantly rotating. Literally within 5 minutes if beer taps out or a new keg is lifted on. Taplands specializes in draft, but they also have some good cans in fridges to take home as well. I had a few beers for $7 and $8 as well as some pita triangles. Really good sauces, with 2 hummus and 1 spicy sauce. Well worth the $7 - filling and into the stomach. The space is big and has TVs all over the place. Plenty of people outside as well as very cramped inside, making the location prime time worthy. I will easily be back in the next few weeks as this is my goto beer bar, especially when baseball is on. read more

This place is a neighborhood gem. Drive too quickly and you may just pass by it and you may not even know it, but once you know about it you're happy that you do. There are somewhere around 24 taps and they always serve some great craft beer. That have a small food menu and also keep some beer in the fridge to take on the road with you. They have a great outside area and their customer service has always been great. They are also a small batch Brewery and they serve their own beer along side they other beer selections. We are happy to come here to people watch, hang out, have a beer, and maybe even play a few games. The owner served our vegetarian friend a sandwich with meat instead of her caprese sandwich, which she ate a bite of unawares. When the owner came back with the rest of the food and was told about the mistake, the owner proceeded to shout "THEN WHY DID YOU EAT IT?" He continued to shout the question at her when she tried to speak. Customer shaming is never acceptable when the restaurant makes a mistake. I'm glad to never go back to that place. read more

Taplands has an excellent select of beer. However, I suggest you come on an empty stomach because their food is BOMB! Complements to the chef. He is always mixing it up. Ok so I've been coming here for the last year. I was actually there on their second day of opening and at first I wasn't sure if I liked or hated the place. But I gotta say this HS my go to spot in SAnta Clara and living a short 10 min walk away doesn't help. Beers I give a 8 out of 10, I've been really impressed with there fridge recently but it has also Been lacking some days, I'm sure it gets cleats out over the weekend. Food is pretty damn good!!! Every pressed sandwich I've had and I've had them all is damn good! The meat and cheese boards are great as well. Overall it's a great spot with great people who love beer. read more

Went to Taplands on a Friday night at about 9 pm. The beers on tap are very unique and decent. I would give the beers 4.5 stars, but the service drops it down to a 2. You can tell the two employees did not want to be working that night. The taller employee with the beard was very blunt and ignorant. I was with my friend and he purposely disregarded my friend's card and strongly suggested to pay under one tab... which came off as pure laziness. Best brewery in South Bay without a doubt. I wont classify myself as a regular but this is one place I`m proud to take my friends from the city or from other states. They have a great selection of taps. For all the beer connoisseurs, I would definitely recommend the unique Sid`s Serrano Pale Ale. I haven`t tasted anything remotely awesome as this one. I have generally been here to have a relaxing cold brew. This place has a super chill vibe especially in the patio area. Also, you can buy a 6 or 12 pack from their fridge which is super awesome. The barkeeps were excellent, friendly, confident, and with great service. The rest of what their website offers did not exist. We went there expecting their own brewed beer, and their regular menu. When we arrived there their kitchen was closed and they did not have any of their own beers on tap. There was a pop up kitchen doing nachos. The chips were cold brittle things with no taste. The toppings were fresh, to their credit. They did not offer salsa or other condiments. No cheese on the nachos. I would give my entre a 3, mostly for the people who ran the pop up. They were quite nice. The beers we chose rated a 7 for the stout and the West Coast IPA. The English Ale may gave be good for its type, but I would rate it just above above Coors or Budeweiser. My advice is to call and confirm what they are serving. It will be a while before we go out again. read more

If this place was in Denver I'd give it three stars but for the location it is an above-average option if you're just looking for a beer, especially if you're not a fan of chains like Gordon Biersch or BJs. I really like this place. I proposed to my girlfriend upstairs and let them know we would be coming in afterwards. There reserved us a couple of tables outside on a beautiful day! There were also cool enough to put in tap my fiancés favorite beer Duchesse De Bourgogne. They had a number of special bottles in fridges as well. The group also really like their meat and cheese plate (the dutch-crunch-like bread is really good!). I think the favorite item was this creamy goat cheese.
